What Are Some Things You Can't Wait for POST OP?
swimbikerun replied to Denise73's topic in Pre-op Diets and Questions
Hmmm to be honest, if someone is eating a lot at the salad bar, I could that good. Now, I take a lot of fresh veggies and fruit, not 1 cup of cheese, bacon, etc. So I have to qualify that but if someone is taking a huge salad out with spinach, cucumbers, broccoli, cauliflower, etc. I would say go for it!! -
I know someone who had a bypass and does them. She has not had a problem with weight but I think she also goes to support stuff too.

Low Hemoglobin, Ferritin, and Iron 3 years out, anyone else?
swimbikerun replied to FishingNurse's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
Hmmm I'm not into believing that mess that just because your values are not lower than the computer range of values for 95% of the "healthy" population means that are you are not sick. You are right to compare and watch them. My GI took me off the PPI. Gave me something more appropriate. Not that I dont need it now and then but I'm trying to stay off such things as I am having problems with meds. -

The PPI is a good cause of problems. -

We dont either, its odd they say. I show signs of malnutrition but bloodwork is ok. I said that's probably because bloodwork is not an absolute and they should know that. That's why so many people get hurt, as a doctor should know that just because bloodwork is "normal" by the computer doesn't mean it is "normal" for that person. -

I'm wondering about bariathletes. Have you googled the term? Dan Bernandi? I'm not sure of the spelling of his last name seems to not have a problem with it. -
Anyone have gastric sleeve for gastroparesis?
swimbikerun replied to praybelieving's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
No I simply had a mild case of it except for now and then. I was on some things in the beginning but they didn't always help. Like I said, many people get relief from it and that's why I chose the surgery I did. I'm on eurythromycin now. It works better than Reglan or the other stuff ever did. -

I'd check out about the Flinstones. http://bariatrichelp.wordpress.com/category/vitamins/ No Vitamin K in there, and mine has never registered its so low. I was on them. Good luck!! I hope it does work for you. -
Anyone have gastric sleeve for gastroparesis?
swimbikerun replied to praybelieving's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, that is why I chose what I did. I still have it. 86% of the people w/gastroparesis get it cleared, but 14% don't, at least from the studies I saw. I am glad I took the chance. Gotta start somewhere! -
YAY!! I had a doctor too focused on weight and not focused on my health. I do believe that is why I've had some of the issues that I've had and the care/treatment (or the lack thereof).

Very wise advice.

There is discussion that Iron and calcium compete with each other. Iron works best with Vitamin C. So maybe something to look into? Also, do you really need the extra iron? -

Have you considered food intolerances? Have you been examined physically to make sure all is fine?

Electrolytes going off and/or your Protein being too low. In my case any way. Can kill you but you figure it out before anything gets too bad for the most part. {{shrug}}
