flavorless protein powders?
swimbikerun replied to veeleexb's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
Vega, Garden of Life, any of those that are vegan type based work better for me. Pea and hemp proteins, stuff like that. -
That's me - decaf. They've got waters too.
-
I dont know if anyone has any additions to the list. That is all I could come up with.

When did you have your surgery? Yes you would lose strength but you will build it back up. Be patient.

swimbikerun replied to acampbell1318's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Have you tried water, exercise or reading a book or what else do you like that you can use to get your mind off the food as a source of comfort? -

Folks Who Have Had Complications
swimbikerun replied to Pegsinthewoods's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm in Hampton Roads but I have a good idea on several of the doctors (actually most all of them) from various sources for the Hampton Roads and some for the Peninsula doctors. Good and bad. -
Drink water or zero calories drinks, get up and exercise, do something (whatever your niche is) to get your mind off it.

I was 3 weeks and 1 day, did a 10K. Light exercise, yes.

3 years post-op and up 40 lbs- feeling like a huge failure
swimbikerun replied to Pagie's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
Ditto the above. What do you feel you need to do? Have you reached out to any support to help you? Did you go back to eating like after the sleeve? What about exercise. Did you ever start that or do that? -
Looking for Florida Buddy November Surgery
swimbikerun replied to Eclectick's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Eclectick, Beauty is on the inside, not the outside. Your physical body will wane in old age. Your heart and soul do not. Physical beauty is fleeting. Love, warmth, kindness, gentleness, patience, hard work, none of these things are ugly. If you showed them before the surgery, you'll still be the same after. and just as lovely. -
2 years later and wanna lose 20 more
swimbikerun replied to TheNewSusie's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
Tiny? What about 0 or 00 at that height? Shoot the sizes now are off ... that's not that tiny. -
Find a good heme and do the IV infusions. That helps. I have enough GI issues that Iron doesn't do well with me either. Not the best choice, but it beats sickness.

I am so very happy to see posts like this. Thank you. Yes, very true. I happened to have had a doctor who appears not to know the complications from bariatric surgery. If it wasn't for the research, we wouldn't have known what the story was.

18 months out...finding the right balance

They can also be used to praise and help others on the boards. Not only are you not looking for food but you are providing "food" for those who need it. -

There is no way around it. You are going to have to exercise. -
my family is telling me to stop loosing weight :(
swimbikerun replied to gruiz27's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
""Sometimes people just liked you better when you were fat. When you didn't speak up for yourself and didn't have self confidence and your world revolved around them, not around you."" Yes ma'am! That for sure is true. Especially when you handle differences in a polite, mature manner. -
Ok I don't want to go into specifics but I work/live/friend people of all backgrounds/financial statuses. I came from the "hood" as my city has been called. I still go to the same stores, etc. as I did before. I make more than I did before but still shop like I used to. I'm still the same person no matter what or where I shop. I have relatives that can't shop at Neiman Marcus. That's ok by me. I still love them. That's the way your peeps should be. Any peep.

One thing a lot of people are missing is that a lot of people are bigger than they used to be. So not everyone in the gym is 20 something and size 2.

"Is their opinion more important than my health? No way." Yes Lord! Bottom line, if your opinion is to be negative of someone trying to do something to get healthier, then you need to be talking to a counselor. Lots of people don't attempt to do anything. Why can't we encourage those who ARE taking steps to do so? "Another thing I discovered is that if I put my earphones in on my way in from the car, it's like being in a quasi-invisible bubble! No one yacks at you with headphones on," The problem is that you don't hear people like me who encourage the non stereotype gym people on. Not everyone out there is going to cram you. Some may have been in the same position you were and want to pass on blessings. People like me.

Surprised about such a small list of threads
swimbikerun replied to catdaddy's topic in Vegetarian or Vegan Eating
I think you can check Vega (LOVE), Garden of Life (GREAT), Plant fusion (YEP), Puritan's Pride, Ultimate, Sun Warrior (GREAT), Amazing Grass (I think I saw that at Whole Paycheck or Heritage ...), Twinlabs, and doggone ... Nutiva and Life's Basics. That's a good one if you don't have the $$ for Vega on the off payweek. Oh and Tera's whey is a new one at Whole Paycheck. -
Very interesting. Well said. What is even harder is having normal weight and malnutrition.

My guess: weakening of the staple line. Freak occurances, possibly from the stomach organ itself losing the adhesion
