5K. The 1 mile is really a kids mile and the only others who do it are the adults pushing strollers.

I made it into the Daily News!

I have preached constantly my example of not knowing about your surgeon (or in my case, I got told this is who I had to take) and really knowing about it. Nothing like having a list of 'its all in your head' (amazing how only I can be told I need to be "discplined" over gastroparesis, IBS, multiple food intolerances and GERD/reflux when I did a marathon at 100 lbs overweight), told there is no global weakness after bariatric surgery (there is in the research, several studies), and a list of other items. Investigate your surgeon every way. Talk to people who are not their fans and find out why.

    Salad's How Long ? !

As long as you chew it well, why is there a problem? You need healthy food too.
  7. I can manage a cup of food at one time. Notice I have a lot of problems in doing so and it works better if I do 4-5 ounces and then wait 10 min and then do again. When I did shorter races, I could manage on that. I could nibble a homemade cookie (meaning it didn't have a lot of the garbage in there that other Cookies do) but they could still really upset the GI track from time to time.

    Complications....so broken and sadden

So very happy to hear that at least some things are starting to work out for you!

    I'm Slowing down need friends

2 pounds a week is 8 pounds a month. That being said you do not talk about how and what you are eating and exercising. What are you doing in terms of those? You are going to have to work hard at it now that the "honeymoon" phase is over. That being said you are still losing 8 pounds a month and that's not bad at all.
  10. SO SO delighted to hear of another triathlete! Congrats!

    Net Carbs

My question would be to the NUT: where are you getting your info from? If it is solid medical research and that's pretty up to date, fine. Otherwise, if it is a case of several medical articles saying one thing and there is another saying the opposite, its then up to the NUT based on their experience. That may or may not work for you. If what works now, that they're suggesting, works for you, great! If not, find out if you try something else.

    Complications....so broken and sadden

I am so very sorry to see you went thru all this. I went thru my own stuff and then didn't have a supportive surgeon and he dropped me later on. Apparently I hear he's also saying items that are not on medical record and that concerns me also. I know its bad and whatever I can do to help and cheer you I will. I have a supportive system here that and that it made things better. Now I fight because the truth about after care and how some doctors and groups are, people should know about so they can make an educated & informed decision on what they want.

    Lots of hunger lately

How about this: take grapes and dip them in Greek Yogurt. Then dip them in crushed nuts like pecans. Allow that to try in the fridge. Healthy snack, you get Protein from the nuts and yogurt, and some fat/dairy. Look around for salad dressings on Walden Farms. I know they have a ton of different ones that are free of a bunch of things. I'm a proponent of using lemon juice and Water. Make your own green goddess dressing, its not popular like it was. What about bacon vinegrette? I am on a lot of vegetarian or vegan lists. You can pick up a lot of tips on the protein that is plant based (and not just beans) to help you get in nutrients, they're not highly caloric, and are a different taste, something you can join in with the whole family if you want to make them. So you make connections over food that is positive.
  14. Hi, I am in the same boat you are in. They stopped giving me sucralfate and the like for a long time. The problem was making the nutritional issues worse. By this, this is not my surgeon. I am a lot farther out than you so I dont have the weight loss available to me without it being an issue. There is little I can do other than doing the same thing you are. I have food intolerances, quite a bit, so yogurt and dairy is not something I can use to help. A bypass has been known to work in many. Sad to say that it is not an option in my case because I have no surgeon. On top of that, with the other GI issues I have, I don't know if that is going to work. Realize that the reflux puts you at higher risk for esophageal cancer, so you do need to consider that. If I can help in any other way, and you want it, feel free to PM. I help people in any way I can, no matter it is public or private.

with oats protein mixed in or wrapped around on them or on top of them puree them grate them microwave them shred them what about all the other dressings? There is more to life than Ranch. People used to have French all the time and now don't. Have you tried some of the 0 calorie/fat dressings? With yogurt?

    Lots of hunger lately

Fruit is an issue, the veggies would help you more. You are trying to break a habit, please don't tear yourself down. I had a surgeon who did that enough for me that I have a hard time now when people aren't always complementary. We're all here because we have problems with food. Lets work to thinking and rebuilding our lives into something positive and that we can overcome this and work together to do so.

    Lots of hunger lately

Veggies, water or some form of non calorie beverage. You can never get enough fluids, and the veggies are going to help. Maybe a piece of fruit also?

    Blog updates

For those of you who want to review what issues/problems may occur with a bariatric surgeon, I've been updating my blog. The latest has to do with the FOIA'ed police reports I got. Basically the cops never found me in violation of any laws and that I ever did anything "concerning" to the bariatric surgeon, the staff, or the patients. While there were claims of trespassing, it couldn't be justified in any way. I've got more questions on the way. Be careful all, unfortunately there are some programs that you need to really ask deep probing questions about. Whatever you do, ask about complications and their experiences 2 years or more out. Ask how many people come back after 2 or 3 years and how old are their figures and when they gather them. If they deal with nothing but "everything ok", what medical reason do they have to get you back in? Outside of their database for ASMBS? Ask to talk to people who have had complications over 1 year out that were NOT weight gain related. You'll find out some good info very quickly.

    Get A load of this!

Medscape is a pretty good resource. They have one on there by David Johnson, a GI, about how he treats after surgery bariatric patients.
  21. I'm glad to hear things are working out for you finally. I can only address the probiotics (didn't do anything for me, but I have major GI issues) & no fish oil since I'm to do no fish/shellfish. I had a doc recommend that. I eat very healthy. I use Protein supplements but that doesn't always seem to work. I believe what happens is that after the initial weight loss and then the small gain back, most people don't have problems so that's why you see people not needing to go back. I would bet those who do may also go back to their PCP's as to get a specialist visit is a waste of time. PCP's or urgent care can run the labs most all need. Very few of us need more.

    Popcorn? Okay or Not?

Not here. Not nutritionally worth it, empty carbs.
