Ok first have people died from surgery in the past? Yes. The surgery NOW is safer than a hip replacement (as far as I have seen the official stats). That being said, remember surgery on an obese, especially the super obese person is risky. That is why it is imperative that people investigate their doctors, and be careful. Note that this person could do this because they are selling something. I always investigate what someone is tied to. I have no $$$ and no interest and am not related in any way to a group or office. You can't tell if that is true about this person. I've been in a couple of "stings" where I investigated offices who had people masquarading as people who used the product, etc. and it was all a scheme to win their $$$.

Fabulous post Camella.

You just got an excellent response. My other question is why aren't you trying exercise to help relieve tension and stress vs. food?

Seasoned vet as far as weightlifting and cardio
swimbikerun replied to Bigdog56's topic in Fitness & Exercise
Yes but for the positive. I can't do anything now, even walking can be an issue but that's a different story. -

My leak healed i am seeking help for after healing life
swimbikerun replied to faisal_vip1's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Well here is why I ask, is that we have tiny appetizer spoons and forks, and that is what I use. Same for dishes. We have 4x4 plates that help us starting out. Tiny bites at first. I dont know if you have cups like we do, that are only 1 ounce in size. That helps you to drink at first and to eat. I'd go for whatever lean Proteins there are there. That first. Anything that you can cook soft also. I love dates big time, and figs aren't bad either but those are bit harder on the stomach. What can you get that you can cook soft or make kinda mushy? -

That's great that your doctor wants you to do that but what are they giving you in terms of help? I understand this point, but what about a PICC line until you can eat? banana bags? At this point, I am quite concerned that doctors should be taking the lead in helping you. I'm not sure I get that feeling. I would say going from soft moist foods at this point would be good but we're missing a MAJOR issue here: culture. I am not a Muslim and don't want to tell you to eat something that is "haram"? I think is the word. I don't know what is usually available to you in terms of foods that you normally eat in your country. I have friends from India and their "daily diet" is different from mine. The veggies and fruits available here in the states or even Canada is different from Saudi Arabia. Do they have nutritionists there to help? Please know that no matter what religion, we are all here to cheer you on and support you at least mentally and emotionally as best we can. The Arabian Peninsula, from what I understand, has a growing populace with obesity issues. To take this step, requires courage. Its tough as in America, the focus and support is different and is more wide and varied. May the step you took work out. -
I know what would be helpful and that is a tracker. When I am off, or think I am off, I use Supertracker. I also have done a job of investigating some scientific ranges of how many calories I'm really expending. I am not calling you a liar. I will say that I've overestimated and underestimated both sides of the equations at times. I've had to adjust based on digging deeper. I dont know if that helps or how we could do better unless you produced a report or your background articles to help us fine tune things more.

I would ask not just about leaks but other problems. I had other problems. The surgeon didn't appear to recognize them. Then its all being blamed on me. However, these are bonafide diagnoses and there's nothing that can be done. Trying to block care, send lawyers after me (amazing how I have said I aint interested in suing you so why are you reverting every question to lawyers?), the cops after me (hmmm being in a public place walking or sitting and not screaming profanities, etc. probably has the cops wondering because they've said we're not seeing any sort of behavior like that). Yes I would be asking a lot more questions and sure wouldn't be as much about that as how much aftercare they'll do and what it encompasses. You want to ask people who have good and bad experiences with them. My eye doctor gave me the lawsuit he got in, and I checked it out. It was a bad problem but nothing he did but just be the one who did it. That's a real doctor - he says this is my worst case and is upfront about it. He didn't lie either.

Complications....so broken and sadden
swimbikerun replied to boojak2003's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am so very sorry. Wsh I could give hugs. That has got to be frustrating. Why is it they need to work with the GI? That is a surgical issue. -
I know of several people that have before. After, here in this area, you are apparently prevented by terms of a legal agreement. Not sure it can be enforced. Slasherms has it right. I didn't have but a couple of piddly problems before, but now with dumped care, and the fact that there are a ton of questions that when I ask "ethically is this right" and they send me to lawyers, what does that tell you? Check them out before. You might get left in my state.

Avg is 100 calories a mile burned in walking/running. I've seen 80+ to 110. Avg. swimming laps is 7 calories a 50 yd trip, but all dependant on speed, your stroke, and flipturn ability (I know some really lazy people who coast for 15 yards or so from a flipturn). You dont say your mileage. I am really wondering if your liquid consumption is the issue, more so than weight. If you have it to burn, why isn't the body burning it? Mine turned into a fabulous calorie burner right after surgery. Unfortunately it got very good at doing that.

DOCTOR SAYS I AM EXERCISING TOO MUCH.
swimbikerun replied to Thinkingthinner1109's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I find this interesting. I needed fluids but that was it. I did a 10K 3 weeks and 1 day out and was doing a whole lot more than others, but nowhere was I this tired as others seem to be. I had troubles eating too. -
Scratching head. What about your exercise routine?

The best surgeon on Hampton Roads, Va is: Dr. Terracina
swimbikerun replied to mswisdom's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Hi, I can tell you of the experiences I had with another doctor in the area. I can understand why you all talk about Dr. Terracina. I can give experiences with other doctors from friends who I know are telling the truth. I am thankful that everyone has been kind to list the items here. Yes, when they talk about being out for the business, I have 2 right off the top of my head that are into marketing the extra products. Realize that this surgery can have a 40-45% profit rating. It makes up for other areas in the hospitals. That is a very good reason why they will protect the surgeons and not us. We are expendable. The doctor makes money for the hospitals. There are less than 2000 bariatric surgeons, from what I understand. -
5:2 diet? That is supposed to be the "jump starter".

Yes drinking lots of Water or the like and then doing things to get your mind off of it. Its saying YES I CAN.
