    I feel like a failure

What are you putting in the fridge? Subbing Water or the like for Snacks is a good thing. What about playing a game or doing homework? I buy stuff for the church breaks but otherwise my stuff is lean protein/meats, veggies. I try to keep all the other stuff out of the way.

    I feel like a failure

I can understand that. Been there. Do you think you might want specific help? Like should we look for things on the internet for you in specific areas?

    Already a failure

Have you talked with the doctor? Instead of eating how about drinking water? Doing some exercise?

We've ALL made a mistake or two in our lifetime.

    Already a failure

Ok first thing: are you still with the surgeon? Talk to them about how you feel. At this close far out, lay it on the line for them that you want help. They should be supporting you. What can we do in terms of being far away to help? KUDO's to you for saying I think I have a problem and being willing to ask for help. Do you need encouragement? How about doing other things than thinking about food? What about Clear Liquids? Your body still needs those this far out.
  11. LOL welcome to the losers' bench!! Glad to have you onboard.

    Half Marathon

If that is the case, I would suggest a couple of things (outside of checking with your doctor(s) before doing this, and I mean all of them): 1) double the Vitamins and minerals 2) be prepared to get down more caloried liquids or be wary and watch for signs of dehydration As for calories, that depends on your mileage. I went thru several calculators online, and you want to get a sort of happy medium. For running you expend 80-110 calories per mile. That is on top of what you need just to do your regular duties.

Glad to hear you are also a success story in more ways than one Arlene. Sharing messages of hope, there's nothing like it.

    Half Marathon

I did a full marathon at 100 lbs overweight. You can do this! I'd check on the requirements and get what you can and need in powders/liquids. I know that most bariathletes do tend to drop the no drinking while eating issue. What they eat and how they eat it to support what they do is very different. Agnostic healthy eating is what I used, but again, its all different for different folks.

Need to get back on my path

Natalie_christin You didn't come off bad at all. There is nothing wrong with saying here are my qualifications. It is helpful to know who is educated in what. People can make better decisions about who they might want to ask what question.

    Well...got my answer...

Hi, I'm sorry it was sort of made for you. I had gastroparesis before the surgery, got the sleeve, and now have reflux. I can't get another surgery because my surgeon dropped my care, and even another doctor who was going to work with me & the nutritionist, he vetoed that. So I agree with the above answer, make sure you got a surgeon that can deal with complications and recognize them. I had a patient first pcp that figured out possible neuro involvement and told me to see the surgeon, because of research about nutritional deficiencies, neuro problems, and bariatric surgery. I had them in droves thanks to GP, IBS, reflux, and food intolerances. 2 months later at the scheduled appt. I went to them. I got told they knew of no problems like that a year out from surgery. It took 6 months from then before I got to a neurologist. Sure enough, the neuropathies and the like I have all fit the medical research. I was a nationally ranked swimmer, 1 year later I walk with a cane, got braces for both legs and just got a handicapped sticker for the car. I'm sorry but I preach research the surgeon. Make sure they will take care of you even after the magical one year passes, not just its all in your head.

    Unprepared for this complication

Agreed. This is sad to know but at least you have your doctor behind you. If you get a problem, you can be easily dumped if you complain about it where I went. The records, seeing "eats a lot of headaches", etc. is scary. Make sure they dont put problems in the records and make it out like its your fault.

Is this a good protein powder?

You can do this! I'm not trying to belittle wht you are doing or asking for help. I apologize if that sounds like it is. Milk is good but what kind? Fat free? That's good but what about changing it for Peanut Butter or a piece of chicken? Sausage or bacon? That's a lot of fat but you can use turkey bacon. How about eggs? 2 eggs is 14 grams of Protein. With some milk, there is lots of protein and good Vit D and Calcium. I'm a big salad eater with chicken and eggs. Peas, Beans, etc. What about a turkey wrap? The fish is great but try different types of fish. Are you maybe bored with the diet? How about tuna? You like that?
  21. I am single, lost weight, and gained a bunch of wolves sometimes now trying to leech on me. If I wasn't good for them fat, I aint good for them skinny.

Is this a good protein powder?

First thing: you gotta track this stuff. What kind of veggies do you eat? Its not that Protein isn't important, but cereal and milk aren't going to give you what you need as much as a piece of ham and broccoli is. Cucumbers, tomatoes, even an apple. A small apple. The granola bar has a lot of calories. So would the K bar. Lots of Protein Bars have tons of sugar in them. There are other fishes besides tilapia. Salmon, flounder, white fish, and you don't mention chicken or turkey or any red meat. Just wondering.

Is this a good protein powder?

We actually didn't research anything. We were hoping you would tell us what is on the back of bag there. Its hard to tell without seeing the nutrition breakdown. You can go anywhere to find Protein stuff. Visit several Vitamin stores, Walmart, BJ's or whatever. Read those labels. What are you getting in, in terms of protein, veggies, fats, etc.? I'm a big believer in eat the food and then figure out what you need to supplement from there. How much protein do you need extra? If you only need an extra 10-15 grams, what about a couple of eggs? Cheaper and you can do more things with them than a Protein shake. Beans are good too and that's Fiber.

    I feel like a failure

Ok well you have the first hurdle down and that is information. Since no one can ever tell what doctors leave with their patients, I always find it good to ask. What do you feel is stopping you? Is it the honeymoon is gone? Life is busy? Do you feel that you are tired of being restricted in terms of diet? Do you need a change in exercise? In the doldrums? I ask a lot of questions because I'm not here to blame. I'm here to help explore what possibilities the issue might be and to encourage you from there. I got enough bad vibes from my surgeon. I won't do that to another.
