    Sauces to try...

The depth of flavor is tremendous for a tiny amount. There is a little bit of salt in there (I didn't know that until a while ago). Otherwise its just like the broth/stock reduced down. That's about the best way I can describe it. Its on their website, and I'm sure they have a list of their items.

    muscle gain/workout

I gained muscle mass when I was swimming like a banshee. I was solid muscle and no fat. This was right after surgery.
  6. I can do chickpeas but not hummus. I can do a whole egg but not only egg whites. LOL.
  7. The attitude of doctors and their staff in regards to thinking that the only way to get Protein in is to kill a cow and that you don't count plant and other protein in your daily ration. I'm the opposite. I have problems with red meat, and then intolerances to dairy, nuts, tree nuts, fish and shellfish. They added gluten to that but I only seem to blow up like a balloon about 1/2 the time (which is probably why they said bug off it LOL). I'm glad you are going to keep this route. To be honest, I'm not much into cooked veggies (broccoli, peas, corn, some stuff) but I'm mostly a salad eater. People are amazed at how and what I have into a salad. I've done black bean quesadillas, tomato and asparagus salad.

You didn't. There is a problem with the forum. Its based on # of posts not your year.

Help me please! I continue to gain weight!

If you don't want "judgement", what did you ask us to do but judge the foods you eat, the exercise or lack thereof? No one here wants what is bad for you but we're telling you, like your surgeons' office should do, a counselor should do, the same things that you will pay them for. They're going to ask why you aren't following them or trying them. I have to reiterate what others said. I agree that while it seems harsh to you, they are asking you the same questions any counselor or your surgeons' office or dietician is going to do. You know the behaviors, you've stated them. What about trying 5:2 or going back to your original diet? What about exercise?

    LapBand Forum going away?

I don't bash banders. I only state the experience I've seen (both good and bad) for bands. I have the research (even if it is older, etc.). I also support people going to Mexico. I would want people to look at me as a person, who had WLS, and support me no matter what their surgery or gender, political association, etc. I'd do the same for them as far as I can. I've had complications. I had a surgeon who didn't treat me as I would have expected, according to research. He put some major things in my records, got care denied for me, has talked negatively about me to others so that they would not want to treat me. He told me if I didn't do what he said, he would put it in my records, and that other doctors would see it and wonder why. I had called his office trying to get his nurse to ask if he was going to be in the office on a particular day, as I was going to make him a 3D lifesized doctor bag cake & wanted to give it to him. I was trying to hide the purpose and get the nurse quickly without him noticing. She promised to keep quiet about it but not before he called me at home and chewed me out saying they paid enough attention to me and get to me when they can. I said nothing. He even put it in my records! Then when I gave him the cake, I said you chewed me out and didn't even apologize, this was for you. His response? Laughter. Yes laughter. Then he asked for the Gelatin flower we had created in one of my classes too. I would have gotten in some trouble with my church giving a married man a flower. So guys, how about we work together for all of us and make it against surgeons who treat people like this (I have more stories ...), drop their care, etc. I've seen a number of people who've had an interesting experience there. Please, let us "band" together against doctors like this. Isn't life hard enough with all of us after WLS that we need more? I've also got complications. It brings in a whole new meaning to support. I don't have care in the area. Please guys, can't we find common ground and accept each other no matter what the surgery is? We all wanted to lose weight (and I thought I'd lose my GP too ... ) so can we just go from there and accept and support? Lets not become ObesityHelp.com.

    Motivation? Energy?

Ok, I'm not a bander, but thank you for your words of wisdom. Hope that you aren't too angry at me for posting, but no matter what someone has, there is always the potential that I find another who's had that surgery or who can use the words of wisdom to pass on. Thank you for helping others.
  13. swimbikerun

    No energy

Everyone has a different reaction to the surgery. If you need a break, have one. I do suggest a light walk though. Nothing major. I had a metabolic acidosis problem to the surgery. Once I got out of that, I was booking. Again, each person reacts differently, so don't measure yourself to people like me. I know its out there and I'd like to address it. If you can't do it, work simply on drinking your fluids and getting whatever Protein in you can. The light walks are going to help though.

    Anyone use protein shots?

Hmmmm supposedly we can only handle 20 grams at a time. Is there any way of posting the ingredients on these protein shots? I saw some that had caffeine. Fake sugars. That's why I am asking.

@@Stevehud unfortunately it is true. In the group I was with, what care you got depended on whether or not the surgeon liked you or not. I would see care given to one and not another, no way it was based on medical research. They also would sit with some people to figure out problems and not others, blaming them for the problems. It was incredible. That doesn't mean it was true with everything, but there were a number of issues I had to ask on. Now that I've been going public with the story and starting to tell more people, I've gotten harassment for it. I think you really need to investigate the surgeons. I'm supportive here of people that I don't where or what they got in terms of surgery, because I know that good doctors & programs should be supported.

@mrsto Thank you for that information. VERY MUCH!! I'll look that one up about recent studies. I would suspect the lower rate and slower rate of weight loss is the issue. Lets face it: Americans want it fast and now. RNY & Sleeve deliver that. I would TOTALLY support the issue you brought up of follow up care. My surgeon dropped my follow up care (I'm a complicated patient & from what I can tell he didn't know all the complications from surgery and didn't even bother to research it, nor was my questions & research & other docs' opinions any meaning to him). Yes, that is correct: once the $$$$$ surgery happens, you are a waste of money except for the ASMBS studies. They can send you out to regular PCP's to draw the blood work each year. They don't want us problem children because we're not worth the investment. No matter what the surgery is: band, sleeve or RNY, there are ways to get around them.

Stevehud you would be surprised. When I showed people, by the cops own admissions statements in the FOIA'ed police reports, that my surgeon was calling the cops on me for doing nothing illegal and wrong, its amazing the hate and retaliation I got from some of his people/patients. In other words, they promoted the one who wronged (and who's group has done things they appear to try and stop me from speaking on). The question is what is the motive in their hearts to do that? I would say to ask the same question for people who don't support anothers' choice in the surgery. Or in where they get surgery (since we've known people to have a problem with those who go to Mexico for it).

    LapBand Forum going away?

I think one of the research articles I saw was 20% rate of slippage with the band. The other is having refills, etc. that you don't need with the other surgeries. The weight loss is not as good. If you have more weight to lose, as people are getting larger, the sleeve or RNY or DS is the way to go. I have heard of people with 8 years or more doing well with the band. I've had some with sleeve or RNY not do well, and everything in between. I support whatever surgery someone gets. Its hard to ignore though, the reasons above. Not saying people don't have success, but the success rates with RNY & sleeve are higher, the complications less, going to a specific doctor for refills, etc. less than what RNY/sleeve do, that's a good part of why you see what you do.

Just got the call from the hospital!

Same here. I cringed seeing this. However, the attitude doesn't surprise me from the medical profession. Well some of them any way. The oddity is that the bariatric surgeon is in more need of an attitude adjustment than the other docs I have now.

Nanna it sounds like you had a really hard time. How are you doing, both physically and mentally? You have been thru a lot. What could we do to help you? We can talk about what to eat and the like but I think the issue is more that you were depressed, feeling deprived and then ate the emotions you had. Did the doctor at any point suggest helping you? That's what I don't understand - unless they're like my bariatric surgeon.
