I'm not getting a good feel, from their website: "These statements have not been evaluated by the food and Drug Administration. This product is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease. If you are pregnant, nursing, have any serious health conditions or take certain medications, please consult your doctor or other healthcare professional before using this product." I would want to see double blind type study proof for this one.

They should be doing more at this time in terms of looking for stricture or a food diary and finding if there is a common thread in the problem foods.

Or you have developed an intolerance to the food/drink and the liquid might be too much sugar at one time.

Hope you are doing well - a DS is big surgery.

Does anyone else have an exercise peak?
swimbikerun replied to Faithluvhope84's topic in Fitness & Exercise
The magic words: "swim". Can you tell me something about your swimming ability? I don't want you to do what I used to do when competing. -
Big problem: you didn't tell us what you are eating, what you are exercising, for us to help. Without those pieces, specifics, there isn't a lot we can suggest to you. Can you give us more info?

Cooking for one
swimbikerun replied to Bacon-n-Limes's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
@@BLERDgirl THANK YOU! Couple of questions: do you have pick your own farms? I do and its cheaper to get your own food and freeze it (jams, jellies, etc.) or dehydrate, etc. than buying. Applesauce is another thing I make, apple butter. The other is that I can trade veggies and give it to friends, and they'll cook and give me some. This also saves me $$$ in terms of healthy food and I have sides I can eat for a while that cost little. I believe there are a few places out there that track what goes on sale and when. Do you know of any? -

@BLERDgirl I don't know if you have done this, but I am also in a limited funds situation. I think what would help is if we had some tips/hints on ways to help get cheaper healthy food. That would be useful to many. -

I failed myself yet again...
swimbikerun replied to JerseyJules's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes. As someone who walks with a cane and leg braces, nutritional issues that werent dealt with, I sort of differ. I do have disability at work. I'm not the only one with issues. One of the people who told me to be careful on it was someone who had her niece die from it in the early 90's. Do I believe in the surgery? Yes but I also believe in competant follow up care, complete and evidence based follow up care. Not something that is half baked, doctors who don't listen to patients or say that every problem is all in their head. Once you've had that, you change your tune when people need support in considering their options. Lets take JerseyJules seriously. No ribbing guys please? That's something worthy of the Obesity Help forums, not the people here. I have seen people on this forum extend hands of friendship and support that I didn't see in even some in person support groups. Pushing someone into doing something is a form of peer pressure. I want to give my understanding to someone who I truly believe is going to take the journey seriously. We need people like JJ. Actually I found his post quite smug and arrogant, kind of a quit whining that I didnt get it, and he is better than me cause he got it post..at least that's how I interpreted it. Also what were your reasons? Just curious to hear what drives certain people to take the plunge.. -
I failed myself yet again...
swimbikerun replied to JerseyJules's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If that comes thru, that is the bariatric surgeons' comment in my medical records and that one item is true (so many things I had to correct). I've been noting up the times he wrote in the records that I had pain after surgery and I was left for months with it. He said it was because I wasn't eating. I said if you got rid of the pain, I would eat. He even acknowledged I gained weight after getting rid of the gallbladder. -

I was on public property, people would go by the office and I'd say things like good luck, or where's the voice for those of us who didn't have a positive experience. No yelling, cursing, stopping people from going in, etc. Because I tell people things to look for like: * 40-45% profit margin for bariatric practices, * investigate a surgeons' experience, research, knowledge of complications, do they tell people that problems are "all in their head" * my records where the surgeon acknowledged me asking him why he had left me in pain for so long when he said he'd treat me like his family (actually the records say 'treat white count with family') * do they follow ASMBS guidelines * not verifying that there is a legal document of some type that bars you being accepted at other bariatric practices in the area once you've gotten the surgery at one place the center called the cops to give me a "history". The cops told them she's doing nothing illegal or "wrong" is the actual quote. They told them to "leave me alone" because I said the surgeon followed me. You see, when there is a 40-45% profit margin, how many businesses are going to not want you to speak? Remember, surgery is a one shot deal (98% of people due to cost/insurance). -

swimbikerun replied to JerseyJules's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I respectfully disagree. I've seen way too many people walk into it with no nothing other than 'it can't happen to me' or blame the patient when things go wrong. I didn't think I would get all the issues I did. I thought it would fix them. I got worse than that. So she is doing right to carefully consider this. Some maybe are more careful than others. No one goes into this thinking they will be the one with complications. Better to have things planned out like JerseyJules is doing, than get caught off guard. I know. I'm paying the price. I'm not here to force or tell people to get it, I'm here to be honest about things and support whether the decision is yay or nay. I've had too many who withdrew their support of me once I showed that the surgeon sent the cops after me when "female is doing nothing wrong". That should tell you what happens when people speak to others honestly about their experience. Is that the kind of "support" you want any way? -

Same here. I'm glad you had the courage to take care of yourself. Let me encourage you to do so. I have religious beliefs, so that is a little different for me. I believe you are worth it and hope you will continue to keep on loving yourself. -
I think there is a lot that can be done in that area. In my case, it didn't that long for a simple google search of the medical information to find out something the doctor really should have put together given my background and his "I've been a doctor for 20 years" experience. If you remove ego and $$$ out of the equation, health care can be very different.
