Unprepared for this complication
swimbikerun replied to tammygRN's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Same here, bad reflux. -
Jasons' deli (salad bar, some of the wraps), Subway (same as Jason's), HT wraps, and once in a while Chipotle's salad. I can't eat half of the stuff there but they always give me extra lettuce and tomatoes. Great veggies. I haven't been to McD's or Wendy's in years. I'm floored when I get told things about it.

Just a link I found on sugar substitutes. Don't know if people are using them or just regular sugar in smaller amounts. http://www.fda.gov/ForConsumers/ConsumerUpdates/ucm397711.htm

Complications....so broken and sadden
swimbikerun replied to boojak2003's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm sorry. Really, as someone harmed, I can say the same. There has been a lot of comments about the lack of followup from surgeons (here in the states) especially for issues one year out or more. That is usually regain. The only option we patients really have is to tell others of what happened to us and try to get it fixed so it doesn't happen again. I can certainly understand that one. -

Keep us informed. I'm sorry over your situation. I think but am not sure, that some surgeons expect things like that to heal on their own. -
Congrats!

Maybe this will help. A pound is a pound no matter what it is, but fat is a lot larger mass size than what muscle is. So you can pack more muscle in than fat. Which is better to have more of?

Eating 'raw cuisine', my lap-band and, oh dear, no weight loss
swimbikerun replied to TheProfessor's topic in Vegetarian or Vegan Eating
It is the grains and the like that get you. Straight veggies not so much. The grains and nuts do have a lot of calories. If you go to clean eating with out the carbs, what about seeing if that works? You can always do non meat types of proteins. -
@Djmohr Sounds like you are doing a fabulous job!

@@AvaFern Thank you. Very descriptive and useful.

At some I will be getting the whole deal. If you don't like pain, don't get plastic surgery. They'll do what they can. However there is only so much you want at one time to recover.

Struggling to eat enough, one year anniversary next week
swimbikerun replied to lblondon's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
Whatever you can manage to get in, and keep in do so. I have several liquid meds to help me. Some times it helps and others it doesn't. You really have to take one day at a time. Other than that, its my church family. I'd be nowhere without their prayers. -

Yes and I'm over 3 1/4 years out. I can feel for you. One day at a time. Keep on trying. -
Reversal for gastric sleeve?
swimbikerun replied to Gladys62's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have found on multiple forums, people are relating to others so they get better and they rarely say don't get the surgery. Its get the surgery but here is what to look out for. The way it should be. I can't believe how many go through this with eyes wide shut. The doctors want the $$$, people want to be thin. They see the honeymoon, not the -1 honeymoon year rest of your life that you are going to have to work hard for. Not the problems that can happen years out. Be prepared. Know what you can do. Make your journey successful. -

That isn't negative. Telling the truth about your experiences is not that. You had a bad one. I also did but in a different way. We tell these things so others learn from our experiences. They don't get the same experience and exert pressure on those who do to have a good one. -
Nutritional Deficiencies and Weight Loss Surgery (WLS) – What to Know
swimbikerun replied to Alex Brecher's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Magazine
I am a bit concerned over that. Collagen is not the optimal Protein as I do not believe it is a complete protein source, compared to something like whey. I believe it is missing trypotophan, something you get from items like turkey. (In my family we call it the trypotophan high.) Try https://asmbs.org/resources/integrated-health-nutritional-guidelines. This might help, do a search for collagen. Best of luck. -
I used kettlebells off and on for the first year. Got settled into some other types of things. I will pick it up, like several others, on and off/on basis to keep me fresh.

Crystal Light in water (or the equivalent) is what I use. You are still getting in 0 calorie liquids.

Nutritional Deficiencies and Weight Loss Surgery (WLS) – What to Know
swimbikerun replied to Alex Brecher's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Magazine
@@My Bariatric Life @@Alex Brecher Thank you both for the article and response. I was hospitalized for malnutrition about 7 months after surgery. I literally was going to die from cachexia. I've had problems ever since then. I had GI issues before the surgery and the surgery was to fix a problem. Not only did it not, but caused a bunch of other issues. My bariatric surgeon did not test for all the items above. Only for what was "general for their patients". They also didn't know how to deal with complications, or, it appears, how to listen to a patient and not say everything was all in their heads. I would suggest, based on my experience, that people really ask about the aftercare. This is huge problem after surgery, and I've seen it on several forums. I was shocked and surprised when one post addressed it and got a lot of answers feeling the same way. My questions would be how much aftercare is performed, what types of complications have they dealt with and what ones have they dropped? I've seen "ads" that tout how great a place is, but can't take care of problems and end up really dumping them on other doctors. Please, I don't want to see others in that situation. I'm having a number of physical problems that interrupt my life and are expensive, all because a surgeon didn't know the researched complications after the surgery and didn't work with my doctors when his consult was requested (or put it in when it wasn't). Good luck to all. -

Why not ask a psychologist and see if what I said was fact. You are quite persistent and rather than continue, this is my last word on the subject. I know bullying when I see it. I've had it happen before.
