Specific nutrients needed to sustain healthy life after surgery
swimbikerun replied to Dallas Powell's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I had other GI issues before and now after the sleeve. These do include problems with absorbing food. Its why I made the distinction. -
That's my anniversary! I was dancing a jig before the surgery.
-
Ditto on the above. Otherwise I've not had any problems.

Any one in Virginia?

Lovely area!

I go and don't eat or get a salad or sandwich. It doesn't bother me, doesn't bother them.

My surgeons office sent out email with all patients names CC'd. How upset would you be?
swimbikerun replied to Missy407's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
You can take the email and file a HIPAA violation. I can help you do that if you want to PM me. I would also advertise who the doctor was. I'm putting together things because I want others to be safe, and to show them just how these "medical boards" and the like act and better ways of getting justice for hurt patients. -

Struggling through complications

Sending prayers here also. Sometimes it takes a bit. -
@@jenlovestim I've seen both sides of the coin. Vets see a lot of the same things over and over because there are a lot of people who don't search, they just want an answer and won't do the work for themselves. They also don't know what your situation might be unless you tell them specifics such as I searched for X here and didn't find it. That's why I made the suggestion that I did. It depends on how far out you are from surgery. Quite honestly I'm not comfortable giving advice to people unless they're a couple of months out from surgery and its something I've seen a lot or have very good reason to be comfortable on the advice. Doctors do slough off the "support" to others, and this is one specialty that they need to stop doing that to. That isn't a knock, but hopefully that will help you better in the forums. I know of a couple of particular groups who have a negative reputation that they legitimately earned and still are earning. (((

I feel for you. My gallbladder gave me crap for months at 11 and 12% function. Best of luck!

@@jenlovestim maybe this might help: http://www.bariatricpal.com/index.php?app=core&module=search&search_in=forums If you go to the search button, next to it is a funky type of circle. Click that. It is the advanced search. If you put in thanksgiving there, you can find > 1000 responses. It doesn't work if you go to the regular search, you have to do the advanced search. Vic

How Often Do You Actually Cook?
swimbikerun replied to Alex Brecher's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
Same here, when I go out it is for a sandwich or salad. -
I can only echo the same as others. I am so very sorry and hope this gets fixed soon.

Keep going for the dairy, cheese and eggs that you can get down. There are Protein powders I do.

My heart aches for you. I had problems after the surgery in other ways. I can so feel for you, your daughter and granddaughter too. Is there anything they can do to help her? Imagery or anything?

Things a Vegetarian should know before getting the sleeve?
swimbikerun replied to nolongerhere's topic in Vegetarian or Vegan Eating
@@Daisydawn34 Could you help me understand your post. I got the first couple of items, after the sleeve date I'm lost. I'm glad you are vegetarian. Even eating less meat helps. -
@@talkingmountain I asked the question about why we need extra Protein AFTER we heal from the surgery. Never got an answer. I sort of came to the conclusion Dr. Garth did. Its not the first time I've asked a logic question and got silence.

Things a Vegetarian should know before getting the sleeve?
swimbikerun replied to nolongerhere's topic in Vegetarian or Vegan Eating
Hi, Yes you can always message someone. I think where I got my biggest help is from following Dr. Garth Davis, and just looking at anything vegetarian that gives recipes. I also have Indian/Hindu people, where the diet is very very tasty, and they do emphasis on the flavors in the dishes, not salt, fat, sugar. You also want to make the decision as to the type of food you want to eat. There are those who eat only fish, some poultry, some eat eggs and cheese, some don't. You sort of want to figure out what lifestyle you want to go for and then find the recipes. That's what I do. It also depends on whether or not you are willing to try other cuisines. I'll eat anything if I can keep it down. I can eat some spice, it is the salt, sugar, etc. that I don't do well with. I can do a tiny bit at a time, but otherwise, whoops it is going to bite me. -
Yes. Have you talked to the surgeon? At this point, that is your better bet to see if something has changed. Either that or they would send you to a GI.

Feels like food sits in my throat.
swimbikerun replied to Jerseygene's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
At this stage of the game, 3 weeks out, I would talk with the surgeons' office. This might be more of an issue than you think and allowing them to make the decision this early on is probably for the better. Best of luck.
