You do some carbs. Where are you getting them from? Did you workout before the surgery? In my case, I lost 35 pounds the year before surgery. I was working out up to the surgery and then was up and moving a lot. Vic

In my case, I had problems with food the first months out. I was 1 month out and a swimming competition was going on. I would say eat something else or more than just the Protein bars. Lots of them are sugary. What else do you eat? I ate a lot of veggies and tried to drink what I could. Any type of shake with Protein powder in it is good too.

Senior looking for a buddy for help during this journey
swimbikerun replied to Tikie's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hi, Question for you: how are you going to make out in the first days after surgery and getting home? You indicate you have physical problems already, so that might be a concern. Did your surgeon or the office talk about that? I think that would be more of a concern than anything else. -

Should I be worried. Unknown Resident Doctor assisting or is it more?
swimbikerun replied to trekker954's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
I would get in writing who is doing what. It is not unusual for "switches" to occur. If he is just doing anything like holding trocars, being a retractor b***** (as it is called), that's one thing. You want it in writing. There was a big expose about surgeons leaving the room after the biggest part of the operation was done to operate on others. Big stink. People got hurt because the surgeon wasn't immediately available and the resident/other doc got in trouble. Btw, placing the trocars and the like can be the most dangerous part of the operation. They're going in blind. In writing and you want proof of what goes on. If you wonder why I have problems with trust, it is legitimately based on. I have put up/out at least 1 150 page word documents on health care issues. I'm about over 100 pages on the 2nd one. -
More vegetarian, less red meats, no sodas of any kind/type, no fast food, more salads.

Hmmm it is possible to mistake the sleeve, I had a u/s tech do it. Still, he may want the GI to make the call if the problem is gallbladder/pancreas. It may also be he/she is hoping NOT to have to go back in. You had major (bariatric) surgery. You are still healing quite a bit. It can be a lot more risky for surgery, especially given your history. I'm hoping you don't have to go back in.

What about bariatricpal's stuff?

Are you chewing it thoroughly? That may be the problem.

I Lost 201 Pounds, but I Didn't Get Healthy

I can't add more to this than just an excellent post. -
I have a disability also. I wear swimsuits that are geared to competition. If you have things "floating" or any movement, the suit is not fitted appropriately. I never have that problem. I did with a couple of suits when I first put them on, but that was due to losing 27 pounds in my first month. I couldn't swim in the first month after surgery. Measure. That helps. PS I don't buy store suits, they're Speedo or the like, and are measured/fitted.

Has anyone given you IV fluids? Maybe that is what is needed? Also, nausea, I don't know what they do in S.A. but here, Zofran can be given dissolvable on the tongue (an oncologist would be more familiar with it) and you can give shots in the IV that will help. There are pills but pills and I can have an adversarial relationship unless its tiny tiny. I had nausea but I also had other GI problems. There can be other things going on, or maybe you need to go back to lighter stuff until your tummy can take it. -

Vomitting and hot like flashes, spitting up, etc. -
@Katrinakit @@Inner Surfer Girl Actually if you watch the videos on Youtube, you can away without doing that. You don't want someone trying to sommersault you. Drive with your head, then use your core to pull you through. There are some really good ones Speedo does with Ryan Lochte on the flipturn (free, back, etc.). Do a search for speedo fit swim flip turn. The Race Club also has some good videos. Btw, in masters' competition a flip turn is optional for all strokes. For fly and breast, you don't do a true flipturn. There is one of Ryan Lochte showing that on Youtube also. Most people don't flip turn as he does, at least swimmers that I know were at the Olympic tryouts are more out of the Water than what he is.

I would ditto @@James Marusek. I flip turn. There is no problem there, buy a decent pair of goggles and fit the nose piece to your face. The Speedo's mirrored Vanquisher 2.0 goggles are what I use. Swedish are pretty good too from what I hear. Keep doing it. I would have problems because I have inner ear issues. If I don't flip turn for a week, my ears go off and I have to slowly get back into it.

I'm looking for feedback on how your surgeon was chosen
swimbikerun replied to Familyte's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Asking them uncomfortable questions & how/what they answer, that's the issue. They will brag on all the good things. Its the bad ones you need to ask how they handle to find their experience, wisdom, and personality to get you thru in case problems occur. -
