  1. A semi-update: I called my doc this morning. The PA called back and said she didn't feel like it had anything to do with the sleeve that it MIGHT be gallbladder. She advised me to take Pepto and Pepcid and go get a scan of my gallbladder if it didn't get better by tomorrow. I took a Nexium about an hour ago and so far that is the only thing that has helped. I still feel like it was a hamburger/bite size/not enough chewing issue because of the timing, but we'll see. Thank you all for the comments!

  3. I ordered a burger last night only ate some of the meat and cheese (no bread), but I guess my bites were too big or I didn't chew well enough. Anyway, it feels stuck (dull pain) - like right under my bra line if that makes sense? I tried to vomit it up in the night, but I think its lower than my pouch... I've been drinking water, took a Pepcid, took MOM. Im not sure what else I can do? Has anyone else had this experience and when will it pass? Should I call the doc? Im kinda afraid to eat breakfast - I don't want to pack anything else on top of it.
  4. What do gallbladder problems feel like - I've read WebMD - but I'd like to hear what you experienced. Im about 7 weeks out and last night after dinner I got this pain in the center upper stomach area that wont go away. Talked to my PA who said to try Pepto and Pepcid and if its still there to the ER and have my gallbladder scanned. Great!!

  6. I was scared like crazy the day of my surgery. I cried all morning and kept thinking: What if?? What if?? But I went forward and 6 weeks out, I am happy I did it. Its a personal choice though - only YOU can make the decision for YOU.

    Traveling!

I am 6 weeks out and just had a margarita last weekend and I've take 2 short trips. My docs main concern was counting the calories and carbs, not the "alcohol" itself. I think if you don't overdo it, you will be fine. The difference in how you feel between week 2 and week 6 is HUGE!
  8. I bought some unflavored protein powder with the idea to add it to foods (cuz Im over the protrein shakes - yuk!). Other than pudding, what do ya'll add it to?
  9. Oh Lord, is it that bad?? I've not even opened it yet!! haha

    Mental Hunger?

I never noticed how many food commercials were on until I had surgery. haha And I started pinning tons of new recipes on pinterest - my friends thought I was nuts!! 6 weeks out and Im starting to make some of those recipes now - but of course I can only eat 4 oz of it. Just focus on your food plan and take some laps around the house during commercials!

    Regretting surgery

It gets better - I promise! I also had those thoughts, as do many others, but once you are eating again and dropping weight you will feel better. I am 6 weeks out now, eating just about anything (but following my plan - protein first, then vegies). My pain is gone, strength is back and Im throwing away clothes that are too big. Hang in there!!

Body changes to expect after VSG

Im not thin YET.. but I've been cold ever since the surgery and I've lost my taste for sweets - Yea!! Everyone is different, but you will find good things and weird things that happen. One weird thing for me - the month after surgery I cried about everything... for no reason. I would laugh while crying because I knew it was ridiculous. That's over, but just a funny little "side effect".
  13. I had the same worry and sure enough - I AM losing slower than I had hoped - 25 lbs in 6 weeks, but ya know what? Its 25 lbs lighter than I was before! So I keep sticking with the program and someday I'll be at goal. Only you can decide if its right for you, but rest assured we all have doubts and fears - that is normal.
  14. I used to down 2-3 glasses of tea while I ate dinner, and although I dont follow the rule 100%, I have gone way down. At the end of dinner, i might have had an inch of water from my glass (small sips along the way to wash the food down or whatever). I dont feel like that much is detrimental to the program. I try to wait 30 mins after dinner to start gulping again.
  15. Im 6 weeks out and I can eat 4 - 4.5 oz of food total (including veggies or whatever my side is). My doc just told me no more than 5... shouldnt be a problem cuz 4 usually fills me - I still have the old mental fight with myself to not eat more if it tastes super yummy though. So far I've been good!

    Back to Work

It will get better. I think by week 4 I felt like I had never had surgery (except I couldn't eat as much). Hang in there.

Post op are you able tolerate seasoning your food?

Im six weeks out and for better or worse, I can tolerate everything! Spices, pasta, lettuce, bread... I've eaten the carbs sparing, but I was secretly hoping my body would reject them... it didn't. haha

    Post -Op time off work?

I have a desk job and went back in 2 weeks...
  19. Thank you for sharing... It probably is a normal stall, but after a while it starts to weigh on you (pun intended). I just bought a Wii too, so Im gonna start exercising and I was released from the doc to do some weights now. Hopefully it will pick up! Thanks again!
  20. Everyone is different, but for me - I've not craved food since having the surgery. As a matter of fact I am rarely hungry... I mean it is weird when others are eating these huge plates in front of you, but I just eat slowly and think about being skinny one day - its really helped me. To me the surgery gave me (forced me) to have will power that I never had before. Good luck!
  21. Im taking Centrum Silver chewable (even though Im not "Silver") and they seem to be fine. After the bottle is over though - I will go back to gummies which I took before surgery.
  22. The first few days i had no energy and just wanted to sleep. So I see your biggest problem being feeding the kids and making sure you have all you need to drink (water/protein). My advice would be to make sure you have things they can easily pop in the microwave, pull out of the fridge (sandwhiches) or will just take you a few mins to prepare. Otherwise, as long as all goes well, you shouldnt need too much help for yourself (nothing that your kids couldnt help with, ya know). Good luck!

    Hospital!

I cried the whole morning of surgery - to the point where they had one of the nurses come talk to me to make sure I really wanted to do it and I wasn't being forced. I did, I was just scared. Make the decision for yourself, then go for it. im 5 weeks out now... 23 lbs down... going through a little stall and feeling sad about that, but I've never lost 23 lbs in a month before and I know weight loss will kick in again shortly. Good luck!
