  1. Im 11 weeks out and I've had 2 drinks over the last 6 weeks. i choose not to drink because of the calorie count, but the alcohol doesnt affect me any differently than it did before. I did not get drunk or even tipsy off of 1 drink... Just my story

    Ordering at restaurants?

I've never been a "left over" eater before, but i am now, because I hate thought of wasting all that money. A restaurant meal will usually be 3 meals for me at least. And sometimes (if we can agree on something), I'll share a meal with the hubby.
  3. Im only 10 weeks out, but my doc said only 4 oz per meal (5 at the VERY most), so I measure everything into my plate before eating, and MOST of time I feel like I could eat more - which scares me!! Anyway what's done is done, but in the future measure, measure, measure.
  4. Im 10 weeks out - only lost 29 lbs total (yes, I know thats alot more than I would without the surgery, but its still not alot considering I had surgery). I feel lightheaded many times throughout the day, everyday. Water is still hard for me - I get about 55 oz of my 64 required oz a day I get about 70g of protrein on average Calories are around 800 - food goes down easily, but I stick to 5 - 4oz meals a day I take a 30 min walk about every other day or so So yes, more water, more Protein, more exercise, but could that small of a deficit be causing my constant stalls and lightheadedness? Has anyone else had these issues? Help and advice please, no ridiculing - Im having a hard enough time keeping my head up right now. Thanks!
  5. I do drink small G2 everyday, but I'll try the broth. Thanks!
  6. No, no meds - just vitamins. I think I will talk to the docs...
  7. I'm always most critical of myself, but today I took a selfie and was like: Damn! My face is really changing! haha The first pic is me in the hospital, the 2nd is me today - 2 months and 2 days out, 29 lbs down. Sorry for the "no-make up" look in both pics and the total self-promotion, but i'm too excited not to share!!
  8. 2 weeks - I have a desk job.

    progress

I try to focus on protein - beef chicken eggs cottage cheese. And I've been walking although not religiously... I guess Im just destined to be slow!

    progress

Congrats! I was sleeved the same day, close to the same weight and have lost 27... seems a bit slow to me. Can you tell me what you try to keep your numbers at: Cals per day? Do you count carbs? Do you exercise? Im just trying to figure out how to make it move a little faster. Thanks!
  11. I bought it at The Vitamin Shoppe or GNC. They are kind of expensive $4-5, but it was the easiest way to get down the Protein.
  12. I had surgery 8/13. I've lost 27 lbs. I'm slow, which can be frustrating, but I've never lost this much before, so Im trying to stay positive. Surgery went fine, I had no complications. The hardest part for me was getting all the liquid down - Im not a big Water drinker anyway, so it was super hard to drink all that in one day.. but Im 8 weeks out now and drinking and eating "regularly**" and feeling great. Another tip for after surgery is have everything bought before you go - bottles of water (if that's what you drink), Protein - I used Isopure clear protein -40g per bottle). I didn't really have everything I needed and ended up having friends and family bring me stuff. **everything I eat seems to go down just fine, but I stick to high Proteins and low carbs like a good girl
  13. I assume you are on a pre-op diet? I didn't have to do one myself, but I think a good tip would be to start eating 5 small meals a day - Breakfast, snack, lunch, snack, dinner. That is what you will need to do after surgery anway, so it might help to go ahead and get in that habit. Plus it will keep you from getting so hungry, if you are eating every few hours. Good luck!
  14. My doc said 6 weeks and was most concerned with calories and carbs than the alcohol itself. One of my fav pasttimes was being "overserved" margaritas on Girls Night Out. I went out with my friends recently and drank a margarita - nursed for over an hour (because I wasnt sure how it would affect me) and all it did was give me a headache.

1 day or 2 day stay, does it matter?

I was in 1 night and ready to go the next day. I didn't feel GREAT, but sleeping in my own bed was better than someone bugging you every 2-3 hours all night long.
  16. I liked apple melon the best... I mean none were AWESOME to me, but they were all drinkable. Like the poster above - I also alternated with water, but concentrated more on the protein until I got in all I needed for the day.
  17. I drank ISOPURE clear drinks - much easier to get down and 20oz/40g protein a bottle. They are kinda expensive, but it was all I could do at the time. Bought at GNC or Vitamin Shoppe.
  18. I stalled weeks 4-5 for no reason - I was following the plan, not cheating... it just happens! But the last few weeks its coming off again. Don't get down if you do stall - just keep working the program.

    Questions for post ops...

Like another poster said, everyone will be different, but this is how it went down for me: Controlling your emotions and eating hard those first 3 weeks? Everyone made fun of me (in a fun way) because I cried all the time over everything, even though I knew it was stupid. I would laugh and cry at the same time. I called it a surgery side effect - which has finally stopped - I haven't cried in weeks. I had no interest in eating until week 3 or so and by then I was happy to get to slurp soup. It was a week into soup that I had had enough and I wanted real food. it gets hard sometimes, but that's when you have to dig deep and stay with the program. 1 oz of Water every 15 mins? Was that hard? It was for me because I was never a water drinker to begin with. Even now I set my alarm to go off every hour to remind me to drink. Protein - you need 40 grams a day at first (then it goes up) I drank choc protein shake 20g (took forever to get it down). Then water with New Whey Liquid Protein (walmart carries it). Its flavored - grape or watermelon - not too tasty but OK enough to get down. Buy a huge container of protein for shakes. . is that good enough? Buy enough to get you started, but not too much, you may not like that kind. I find I like the premade shakes better - less foamy and thick. Bed ridden? I would not say bed ridden, but I took my pain meds and slept a lot the first week. I could walk a few laps around the house several times a day, but I couldn't go to the store or anything. What Vitamins do you have to take our do they suggest? I take a chewable multi-vitamin (Centrum Silver was the only chewable I could find, even though Im NOT silver... yet). B12 drops and D3 drops. How long should you wait to have sex? My doc said 2 weeks - I probably waited 3 just because my tummy was still a bit tender and I was worried... but everything was fine when I finally gave into my hubby's crying and begging haha How bad is the constipation? I have not gone on my own since surgery, but it never hurts - not enough food to really build up I guess. Every few days I take MOM and it flushes it all out. Has anyone slipped and taken ibuprofen? I take liquid Tylenol. I hate taking pills anyway, so I just bought some liquid at walgreens. Great questions - I hope these answers help!
