    Thought Approved But Not

I thought that the US rarely approves any kind of wls for anyone under 18 or over 60? Is this a myth?

  5. I am not banded yet (March 24) but I am a planner so I have been gathering a list from everyone I come in contact with and I will share it with you... So far, I heard some good things to bring/pack/do/tips/advice though..... carmex/chapstick, a bra with no underwire, a portable heating pad, robe, comfy slippers, crossword/game/puzzlebook, shave your legs before surgery day as you may not feel like bending over for a bit, take plenty of small bills for tipping, slip on shoes for the ride/flight home, have a wheelchair arranged for on the way home with the airlines (this can be done at the baggage check in or ahead of time), very loose and cool light clothing, your favorite pillow/stuffed animal, your "fat" picture to remind you of why you are doing this, small picture book of family/friends, have your friends/family call you as cell phones work intermittently, digital camera and journal (document it! even if you feel icky, you will be glad you did), leave valuable jewelry at HOME, in self pay make sure the check is not a personal one but a US cashiers check from a bank, ALL of the things that Shell suggested (tylenol, gasx chewables/mycolin drops, comfy clothes, hubby snacks) Hope this helps for anyone..... (I am a bit of an over achiever I think when it comes to planning) Anyone else want to expand on the list so far? please doooooo!

    time of the month issues....

I just got to thinking.... (i know, dangerous stuff). Anywhoooo, I am being banded end of March and that is exactly the time of my, well, womanly flows. I know I hate to discuss this, but does anyone think that is a bad idea? Women are more tender then so I am wondering if maybe cramping and bloating because of my period will make things worse? Any comments? What about getting fills close to that "time of the month"? Someone shoot me if this is a dumb question, and someone better respond soon before I do a DeLarla and delete this post! (ha ha ha)

LMAO, okay, I feel better. I told my husband about my question and he said about the same thing... what do they need to look down there for? I kiddingly said, well my doc is very handsome. Without skipping a beat he retorted, "well I hope he buys you breakfast in the morning like I did". ha ha ha ha... too funny! I love my hubbie!

OT: Heartbreak. For dog lovers only.

Rainbow Bridge Poem Another Version Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, they go to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable. All the animals who have been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind. They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; his eager body begins to quiver. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster. You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart. Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together. Author unknown

P.S. Getting the band done outside of the US has proven for many bandsters to be very financially saving to them. Most popular I think would be Mexico but I have also heard a lot about Europe, Belgium, South America, Spain. For example: lap band surgery in the US costs approx 15k-22k whereas Mexico costs are 7k-12k.

What is the first consultation like?

I am a self pay. (5'8", 31 years old, 225#, don't qualify because I am healthy with no comorbids, weight gain obesity is only for last 6 years) I am going to Mexico. Tropicana, PM me if you want to know details about what I am doing. Another good person to talk to that self payed is La_Madam. We both have the same doctor. Although, she is already banded and I won't be banded until end of March. She answered a lot of my questions.

    PB ing

This should have been definitely something you came across in research phase of the decision process.... but in any case, I am pre banded and from what I can gather it is sort of like a chunky burp that gets a little caught. And has the same reaction as a baby spitting up after a meal. I hear that it is "uncomforatable" but not painful but yes, I think it is something you would want to avoid. I am just trying to help with the answer to that even though I have not had the pleasure of experiencing the whole PB feelings. But believe me, I am making a list from what everyone else is saying and just making my own "be careful" list of foods. Try doing a search for PB and a ton of things should come up. (no pun intended)

    Fun Thread - Screen Names

Well some my think my name is because of the childrens story book (about the little princess who could not sleep because of the pea under her mattresses, good story, u should read it) But my story behind my nickname..... Okay, here goes (don't laugh!). One night I was tossing and turning and kept feeling like there was something poking me. The next morning I looked and found nothing. I couldn't figure it out. I flipped my mattress thinking it might be a spring or something poking at me. I figured I would just chalk it up to strangedom when my husband found the culprit! U READY FOR THIS??? There was a milk dud stuck on my back because I had been eating them in bed that night. I was laying on it all night and it stuck to my back!!! GROSS!!! (plus I was humiliated!) Needless to say, I NEVER eat in bed anymore. My mom bought me the book Princess and the Pea because of this whole ordeal, and therefore I am..... princess_n_thep

Pam.... Splenda is my best friend. I too loveeeee sugar and hate artificial sweetners (and their yucky after tastes). Try Splenda, I be you will be glad you did. Believe me, I fought my mother on it for a year before I tried it!

    Google and your privacy

Okay, my 2cents... I wayyyy over reacted to the whole google thing. (as some of you saw in my post) but I have removed my picture and other info to identify me. My only issue is that your pc isp is attached embedded in every post. If someone knew what they were doing, they can extract it. But then again, if they want it that bad then come get me I guess. I am in favor for people doing much more research than just on LBT though and since LBT is linked from many other fact based sites I think that having posts removed from the google search is best. But either way, I am just saying THWI and posting anyways. If someone cares so much about my cellulite that they want to find out specifically about me and my personal saga, then so be it. Jen

    2005 Vegas Bash

Just a thought too..... checked a bit more.... Stratosphere is $107 a night, Imperial Palace is $98 a night, Circus Circus is $85 a night and Sahara is $89 a night. Being that this all has the propensity to get somewhat large of a group, the group rates will probably be even lower. The newer hotels are fairly expensive but the older more established hotels on the strip are just as nice, just not as themed or showy. I have stayed at all of the above and like them all (sahara and riviera being top choices, and circus circus being the bottom). Do you have any thoughts or input in this De Larla??? I drive and play and stay there all the time and send people there all the time, but you live there (so you get the inside scoop ha ha ha). Surely you have a better opinion about all of these places I have mentioned than I would? If I am invited, my vote is for either weekend. I am driving. And just as a side note..... why not plan a quickie cruise down to mexico? Only about $300 pp for 4 nights and everything is included! (can you tell I love to travel and jump at ANY and ALL chances to leave and have fun!!!) Jen

    2005 Vegas Bash

Okay, with or without permission... I had to do a quick search.... and the Riviera (which is middle of the strip and a GREAT location for walking either up or down the strip) is only $92.04 a night (standard, double occupancy). And I bet I can even do better than that in a group rating. As some of you know through chatting with me, I am a police officer but I am also a travel agent part time and have been in the travel business for about 8 years now. So let me know if you need my help.

As a travel agent.... would you all mind if I popped in and gave some different quotes on rooms???? Actually, the Stratosphere is going to be cheaper than Excalibur. Excalibur was cheapest 4-5 years ago but now they aren't "new drumming up business". Harrah's is also known to have great rates. If I can have your permission, I would like to do some searching of my own and give you guys some good prices???? Let me know.
