  1. I was sleeved about 6 hours ago and I'm actually feeling pretty good so far. Dr.Alvarez and all the staff have been absolutely wonderful. I have met some new people while walking the halls.

When I booked the surgery in the middle May this year I weighed 334

This morning before surgery I stepped on the scale at 306!!!!! Wow 28 pounds already!!!

I'm very proud of myself :)

So cheers to everyone's journey.... So far no regrets, ask me tomorrow and it might be different HAHA no gas pains yet.

  2. I'm on day 14 of my 21 day liquid diet. It definitely gets easier as the days pass. sugar free Popsicles are my life saver. I actually enjoy taking a bite... Sure is cold... Lol... but refreshing!! The veggie Soup from Susan got disgusting after day 6 :) so the next batch that I made I cut the veggies way bigger (follow the same ingredients) and let it simmer. after it cooled I put it in the blender and pureed it. It thickened it and then I didn't have to gag down the vegetables. (Which I usually love) much better :)

My surgery is in 8 days with Dr. Alvarez!!!! Yikes, it feels kind of surreal. I'm starting to pack little by little. My house is ready for me for post op and I hired (yup for 8 hours each day) my niece to come over to play with my little guy for the first 4 days that I'm at home while hubby works.

  3. Hey,

I'm on a 21 day liquid diet. I started it today and its been very easy for me, I even made Breakfast and lunch for my son and then chicken Alfredo Pasta and veggies for supper for my family. I believe that today was easy for me because I spent the last 2 weeks tapering off of food. I usually had 2 shakes (visalus) or a Protein one, a small snack ( fruit and a slice of cheese) and then supper with my family. My supper was always a Protein and steamed veggies. I stayed alway from carbs and pop for those two weeks :)

Asked me tomorrow and I might have a different answer but I truly believe that tapering off is the way to go. I wouldn't do a pure liquid diet for longer than you need, just be smart in your choices.

My hubby even said he would take me wherever I want to go last night to eat whatever and however much I wanted..... Guess what.... I said no thank you and had a healthy supper instead.

  4. Hi Saskatoon ladies ,

I kind of lost touch since last week but life is busy.

I start my 21 day pre-op liquid diet tomorrow... Holy sheet :) that means surgery is in 22 days!!! I went shopping and bought absolutely everything I need for this as well as the items I will need post-op. I also bought items that are healthy and easy to cook for my family. I think that's going to be the tough part. Being a stay at home mom with a hungry little guy might be trying during this journey.

The only thing that hinders me most days is my weight... Not being able to fit in my clothes right and finding pregnancy pants comfy is a huge problem... Yup my little guy is almost 19 months... Why am I still wearing them!!!!! I don't suffer from any sickness and I'm not out of breath going up a flight of stairs. But for how long??

    I'm 31 years old, and stand 5'7

    Highest weight 334

    Current weight 322

    Goal weight 160

I have a long way to go, and so much life to live.

As you might already know, I'm getting Sleeved by Dr.Alvarez July 5th. So here is to getting my overly large ass in shape and being the best I can be!!!!!

  5. That's awesome!! Can't wait to be on the other side!!

How was the first day of solids?? What did your meals consist of??

Are you from Stoon?? I think us Stoon sleevers should start a walking group! Anyone else up for that??

A walking group would be great!! However a little boy in a stroller may accompany us women :)

I'm sure we could think of something

  6. I can send you the actual one Susan sent me if you want. I think the hardest part for me was the 2 weeks of liquids after the surgery before I got to the week of liquids that included soup' date=' juices are great for that phase. I know after I sent all my info and my deposit I gained weight before the rating but I don't know how much as I didn't weigh myself out of fear! I had my surgery on May 10th and I have lost 35 including the original pre surgery amount.

I get to start full solids next week and I'm nervous I won't lose as I might have hit a plateau now but not sure :/ . However, I'm thrilled with he whole experience!! You are going to love them!!!!!![/quote']

Susan sent me the Soup recipe :) that's my shopping mission next Wednesday lol. But thank you for the offer. Wow, 35 pounds in a short time is great, actually no.... It's amazing and your doing awesome!! I look forward to that day :)

I have read lots about the surgery and they say plateaus are a good thing... Maybe instead of pounds, inches will disappear. Don't ever get down on yourself (we are definitely our worst critic) just think, wow you lost 35 pounds!!!!!

I've been eating great and preparing myself for liquids so far Ive lost. Hoping to keep up with it!!

Good luck with full solids. What are you wanting to try 1st?

  7. Hey I'm from Saskatoon too! I did not go to Dr.Alvarez but he was high on my list! I also read his book which is pretty good. I too did NOT go through WLF and have no support group. I'm 24 working full time.

    Hello SKgirl27,

I think support and a listening ear is important. I'm not ready to tell friends yet and most of them have never ever struggled with their weight. I received enough finger shaking from concerned family members that I just want to keep it on the down low.

How's things going so far? I sure wish I could have done this at 24! I definitely would not have been ready tho, so very happy to hear you made such a great decision :)

  8. I did the liquid diet for 21 days too. It was definitely hard. I had a good amount of pop cycles and Tomato Soup. Susan wih Dr. Alverez sent me a veggie Soup recipe which really helped. It was basically the Weight Watchers veggie soup recipe. To me that was a god send. I lost 16 or 17 pounds before surgery and he said I did really good. Of course I wanted to lose more but I was happy he was pleased. I also liked Carnation Instant Breakfast. I don't seem to like it post surgery which is weird to me as I loved it so much before!!

I wish there was more I could help you with but you are doing great!! Hang in there' date=' it is the hardest part.[/quote']

Thanks for this!!! Losing 16-17 pounds was great work. You did amazing! How are things going now?

I start my liquids on the 14th and have a wedding the next day, so I'm actually bring that soup with me. It is what it is :) I tried it on weight-watchers and it was good, but not that good for so many days in a row. I'm going to make a beef flavoured one as well to change it up a bit!

  9. Hey! I'm not going through WLF either. I'm heading to Mexico June 24th to Dr. Aceves! I'm 27 and a full time student who works too much <img src='http://www.bariatricpal.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />. I will talk to you anytime- it seems like its all I want to talk about these days!

I'm going to Dr.Alvarez. I did my research and just found myself feeling comfortable with his credentials, other peoples feedback, youtube posts and the receptionist Susan. I think about it most days to.... Sometimes scared and other times extremely excited. I have a little 18 month old and am worried about how it will be once I get home, since we aren't supposed to be lifting.

My email is jrstein@hotmail.com. I would be more than excited to have someone to go thru this with.... Ups and downs...
