I was perfectly healthy at 296 pounds too. I did this for my mental health. Honestly, preventing future ailments due to obesity rarely crossed my mind. I think mental health is equally important.
I hated how I looked. I couldn't see how my husband could find me attractive! He was/is very attracted to me and I was constantly turning down his advances because I was so disgusted with myself. All the failed diets put me further into self loathing. I was tired of eating until I was absolutely sick for hours after eating. I did this to beca well rounded happy individual. This surgery did that for me! I don't have one regret! It's changed my life completely! Good luck to you!

I had that thought run through my head about a week before surgery. (Although I was 43, no kids, etc.) As I'm sure others have mentioned, look at the long term health benefits of getting to a healthy weight. Right NOW you don't have health issues, but what about in 5-10 years? What if you don't lose the baby weight and gain more?
My only regret with the surgery is that I didn't have it sooner.

You might get more replies in the PRE-Operation Gastric Sleeve Surgery (VSG) Questions & Answers or food & Nutrition forums. Your question was posted in Gastric Sleeve Surgery (VSG) Success Stories.
At four weeks, the surgery is still healing. Eating foods or quantities not on your program increases the risk of surgical failure, such as a leak. Each Dr. sets a program based on their experience, how they cut the sleeve, the aftercare program they are using (which, in my opinion, is why many Dr.s in Mexico have a more stringent plan following surgery - you probably aren't going back for after care).
In addition, most people can't eat much in the first months post-op. Choosing nutritionally void foods doesn't leave room for the important nutrients provided by food on the post-op plan.
I would consider counseling to help learn to deal with cravings. At some point, the sleeve can only take us so far.
    Best wishes on your journey,
    Lynda

I second what everyone else has told you. I used a clock and took super tiny sips all the time, with the goal of drinking 1 oz. every 15 minutes while I was awake. I drank from a shot glass and used a 1 cup liquid measuring cup like a pitcher. I drank everything room temp at first, but everyone is different. Another thing I liked very early out is Sleepy Time Tea.

Light fruit juices are good. Also use the broth of Soups like chicken noodle, veg beef, etc. it tastes better than plain broth. Go slowly. Sip, sip, sip all day. Good luck

Yes, walk, walk, walk. I walked all over my house. My dog thought I was nuts! Just thought...you could freeze Protein Drinks in ice trays and suck on those.

sheilarae got a reaction from Tim H. in Protein bars- helpful or harmful?
My dr said Protein bars should have at least 10 grams protein and under 230 calories. Also said to ignore other things on the label. I like EAS and Center for Medical Weight Loss bars.
