The letter from your PCP has to say that you are cleared for surgery and he recommends for surgery. Both my husband and I got denials at first and the wording was part of the denial.

Cigna is being very strict now on the dietician visits, well about everything really. You have to do a full 90days, and all the visits have to be spaced out evenly apart. Apparently, they went from a 3 consecutive month visit to a full 90 days on May 15th. My surgery had to be postponed so i could get my 4th dietician visit in, which was today. Insurance will be resubmitted today for my July 22nd surgery. Fingers crossed. I was originally denied because I was missing my 4th visit and because of some verbiage on my PCP letter.

I called the NUT and she said seeing her qualified as a well documented WL program. I had a couple of blank sheets of daily logs for exercise and food journal so I enlarged them at work and made 90 copies to document EVERYTHING! And my 3 months will be up 9/21. I did end up canceling my gastro and pulmo appts till the 3 months are up. Thanks all for the advice. I feel much much better

Ahhh Cigna, fight it. My husband was denied by Cinga last week. We fought it tooth and nail, saw the dietitian again. Made the Primary Care Physician write "Cleared and Recommended for surgery" also has the physiologist write "unequivocally cleared for surgery." Follow the verbiage in the requirements to the T. Paperwork was submitted Tuesday and he was approved this morning. His surgery is scheduled for Monday. My paperwork will be submitted next week, so I'm sure I'll be in the same boat.
