    Is this normal?

I take 2 colace everyday and this helps a lot!
  2. It will get better!! I am 6 weeks out and I still have days that I am more tired than others. Yesterday I was exhausted but today I went to the gym, Whole Foods and Publix. Came home and cooked dinner and cleaned it up. Tomorrow I am going to Disney and will walk and do what I can. If I need to sit down that is what I will do. Hang in there and make sure you get your protein in! You just had major surgery and cut your calories drastically! It takes some time and you will get through it!
  3. Sorry to hear about all the problems!! I hope your doctor can pull the strings needed to push you up on the schedule. I was a self pay and had literally no troubles and sometimes I think it was worth the cost not to have to go through the hoops. Good luck and keep us posted!!

    New here, frustrated....

Wow you have been through it!! We have a lot of people on here who have gone from band to sleeve and if I remember correctly most of them are completely happy. I can tell you with the sleeve I have literally had zero complications. It works wonderfully and you don't have to go in for adjustments. I know that some people have had the revision when the band was removed but most of them do a 2 step process. Look on the groups and see if there is a band to sleeve group. Best of luck to you!!
  5. So today I was talking to another fellow sleever and I am not sure if she has any medical credentials but she talked like she did. So she was telling me that if you are sneezing, burping, hiccuping etc. then you have eaten to much and you risk stretching your sleeve. I was always told this was the sign that you have reached full and to stop. Not you have already eaten to much and now you could begin stretching your sleeve. Can I get some feedback on this topic. Tonight I ate about 4 ounces of shredded meat and certainly no more than that with a few diced pieces of tomato. That was all I ate and still had the sneezing. I can't even begin to see how I overate...........totally full but not uncomfortable. Any views on this?

    Woah...

My surgery was on June 7th and I am still trying to remember to eat small bites and to slow down. I think it will take some time for me to establish this as a normal pattern for me.

When were you able to eat? Like really eat.

I would say our journey is very similiar! I am now 6 weeks and eating what I am in the mood for and nothing has bothered me so far. My doctor sent me home with instructions to start puree and progress to soft if the puree didn't bother me. This worked for me. Good luck!!
  8. I noticed your surgery date was June 7 same as mine. Thanks for the reply I never get the full signs until after I have finished eating anyway. So I have never pushed on past those signs since I am already done.

Be afraid, Be Very Afraid !

Hang in there! I didn't tell a soul at work nor my friends except one. Only a select few family members know and they are sworn to secrecy!! This is your business and your journey and no one has the right to squash your determination. If you want to keep it to yourself then do so. If you want to tell some make sure you chose wisely. Your scenarios are pretty much dead on and that is why I kept it quiet. I didn't want their opinions or suggestions no matter how caring or jackassey they wanted to be. This is a serious journey and major change in my life and I honestly have found more love and support from this forum then I could ever get from my people in my life that don't know about it. I wish you the best!!

    Cravings

I hope your personal issues will come to an end soon. I know what the stress of life can do to a person and the coping mechanisms we use to relieve that stress. At least it isn't dessert that you are looking at. I don't know what soda will do to you when you are this far post op. What about taking a walk or doing some other type of exercise to relieve the stress. It seems easier said then done I realize this but we all have to figure out new go to coping mechanisms to stop our patterns. I truly do hope things get better!!

    Addicted to "weight loss praise"

I go back to work in 4 weeks. I work for a high school with at least 80 employees and 1600 students. I run the attendance office and have contact with most of the kids. I am hoping to slide back into my office without much notice. I seem to be a slow loser and have lost 30 pounds and am 6 weeks post op (loss includes my 2 week liquid diet also). I figure I will lose more weight but the slow weight loss will be a blessing when it comes to people noticing a difference since I haven't seen them over the summer. I really don't want to talk about it with these people (I like them) but I don't like the attention focused on me for this reason.

    I'm a leaker

That is wonderful news!! So glad you are on your way!!
  14. So I have had a textbook surgery and recovery but yesterday I was getting a pain in my right side and it is still there today. I don't have a gallbladder so it's not that and to high up for appendicitis. It feels like it is in my midsection along the right side by my ribs. So...................has anyone ever had this type pain? It feels kind of like a muscle pain but I haven't done anything to myself.
  15. So today I stepped on the scale and I have officially lost 30 pounds and I am six weeks post op. I am very happy with my progress so far. Tomorrow I am heading to Key West and am determined that I will not gain any weight while I am there. My daughter n law has a gastric bypass and is going also. So I will have partner in crime to help make the correct decisions. I am a little concerned with the heat and humidity down there and staying hydrated so I will keep a bottle of water with me at all times.
  16. You know when I first read this that was my first thought. God knows the number of hairs on our head. I believe we came onto this earth with a predetermined date and we will leave with a predetermined date. I am a saved believing christian and I know that God already knew my walk on this earth including this surgery. So I will keep the faith and lose weight with a smile on my face.

    post vsg .hot flashes!

Oh my goodness YES! I think it is because of the hormones being released in the fat cells. I am no doctor by a long shot but I did read something about this. I am also 52.
  18. I also looked it up and that was my interpretation as well. I could die of a million different reasons because of obesity. When you lose weight a lot of these reasons are no longer a risk factor. I am not going to worry about this.

    No enjoyment of food?

I think we all go through this but it will get better. If you go on www.theworldaccordingtoeggface.com you can get some good food ideas and recipes. This will help. I found it hard to figure out what to eat. Hang in there!!

2 weeks out and in pain

Is he actually throwing up or keeping it down? If he has dry mouth, dizzy, disoriented, or having muscle spasms then he is dehydrated and may need some extra fluids. If this keeps up you might want to call the doctor to see if he needs some fluids or to be checked. Be proactive so he doesn't end up in the hospital. Make sure he is some G2 for the electrolytes. Best wishes and I hope he feels better real soon!

    Ranting

I completely understand your frustration and I feel for you. This forum will help you a lot! I believe you need to trust and have faith in the process. My story and most of the people on here is the same as yours. If we could have easily lost weight and controlled our food addictions we wouldn't have needed the help. I bet we have all tried more diets than we have fingers to count them on. I was not fortunate enough to have my insurance pay for mine. I was a self pay. I would suggest to you that you stick this out and work with the insurance company. I do believe the sleeve will allow you to lose weight and allow you to be a happier person. Stick it out and see what happens. I don't think your BMI will stop you from having the surgery. Please keep us posted!!

    Getting back to basics

I am 6 weeks post op and rarely eat fruit yet. I still need to concentrate on the protein. Did you think about just starting liquids over for 2 meals a day and then doing a lean piece of meat and steamed veggie's for dinner. This would get the carb habit out of you again. I don't know much about the other 2 options. Best of luck to you!!!

    Self Pay St. Louis

You can call Dr. Shillingford in Boca I know he is farther away but a lot of surgeons won't do both at the same time. I know some do so good luck to you!! He charged me $10,500 but I know yours would probably be more simply because of the circumstance you have going on. Good luck to you!!

    Hate my NUT

I would let your surgeon know that she is dragging his practice down! He doesn't want that kind of review on his business and he will probably talk with her.
