  1. Hear trader joes has great low carb tortilla wraps and probably carry the pittas I buy that are only 50 calories (Joseph flax and oat pitas). At costco, if you are still doing Protein shakes, the premier Protein Shakes are great (RTD). I also love the teriyaki pinappe chicken meatballs by aidellS. Otherwise, I just buy veggies, meats, white canned tuna, olive oil, balsamic vinegar, bottled Water, toiletries, etc. from Costco.
  2. I know juice cleanses should be cleared with a doc or nut but I was wondering if anyone has done one before. I like the idea of cleansing my body from toxins and rebooting my system and figured with the smaller stomach capacity, it should be more manageable to only have liquids again. Anyone ever done a cleanse before either pre op or post op?
  3. I layed on the couch in a reclined Chair for the first 10-12 days. Laying flat pulled too much on the inside and was uncomfortable. By 4 weeks out, I was so much better and now at 6 weeks out, I have no remaining discomfort at all
  4. Women's weight vary quite a bit so weighing daily will make you crazy. My weight varies within 3-5 pounds but is trending down. Don't worry.
  5. I don't like too sweet so I usually get a grandeskim milk latte with 2 Splenda. It's around 130 calories for the milk. I get it iced or hot.
  6. What's the grocery store near you? Do you have publix? Your local grocer should have organic cheese, dairy, and eggs and maybe som limited produce. I would definitely get spagetti squash, Gia Russo spagetti sauce (publix sells it but your local grocer may not) in Hot Sicilian or tomato basil, check out their quinoa grain mixes, fresh greens like arugula, kale, etc. Take your time, read labels for serving size, calories, Protein, carbs and fat since not all things there are healthy but have packaging that seems healthy. I am lucky (so I feel your pain) because I have super target, whole foods, publix and Fresh Market all a few miles away.
  7. I am 6 weeks out and can drink 17 oz in 10 minutes.
  8. My regular grocery store has a nice selection of organics so I don't really get much at whole foods other than spagetti squash (my grocer doesn't always have it) and some soups. If you have a super target, check out their organics. FYI not all produce at whole foods is organic
  9. Download a free app for tracking food so you log every calorie you eat. I think twice about what I am going to put in my mouth knowing the calories in things first. I am working toward 1000-1200 calories a day which goes really quick! This way you won't be afraid to eat knowing your limits.
  10. Thanks for all the feedback. I am not letting it get to me and I am proud of the choices I make now but it's hard not to be frustrated. I know it will come off eventually so I will plug along. Time to do elliptical now actually
  11. Yes, you read right I M using mfp. I do the elliptical for 40 which burns just over 400 calories according to my precor elliptical and am eating 100-1200 a day and not upping calories on workout days. I can easily add more calories because I can eat a good amount and do get hungry. I may add some more healthy Snacks in the day.
  12. So I know stalls get discussed at nausium but here's another topic about stalls! I am 6 weeks out and experiencing a frustrating long stall with 2 weeks fo no weight loss even though I am doing my elliptical for 40 minutes 3-4 times a week and eating 1000-1200 calories a day. I know stalls are normal but thought I would have powered through this one by now. I started at 213 and am stuck at 193, far off from goal of 145. Just curious to hear what have others experienced in the duration of their stalls and how far out from surgery date? If its relevant, comment on how close you were to goal since weight loss gets slower the closer you get.
  13. Interesting answers! I know myself and think these items can be a slippery slope adding calories to my day. I will take them when I travel internationally so I can skip restaurant breakfast and lunch and limit meals out to dinner.
  14. The texture was off putting to me me! Like rubbery. I say just make spagetti squash and know you are eating a low cal veggie that is all natural.
  15. So, I know Protein bars if eaten as a Meal Replacement, are probably great but given their calorie content is comparable to a candy bar and some taste like candy bars (oh yeah brand), I could see where these are just added calories in the day. I just bought a bunch of types to try for traveling (which I still hope they will serve their purpose and eliminate meals out) but I find I want them as a dessert and tat is not their intended use. What are your thoughts- are Protein Bars friend or foe?
  16. How any days out are you?
  17. Cut them long ways (not like circles) and mist or brush with evoo, sea salt and pepper and cook on grill just a few minutes each side, I like them with some crispness still.
  18. We don't have trader joes
  19. That's the most tender area bc that's where all the work was done. I too had a tightness/pulling that hurt if I tried to stand upright fully. It wasn't severe and doc said it was normal. It went away by 4 weeks out
  20. I eat the Joseph's pita rounds which are made with flax seeds and 50-60 calories (depending on the size you get)- they are delicious with turkey, cheese, and the toasted in the toaster oven. I also eat tuna fish salad with them. For wraps, the tortilla factory low carb wraps at 50 cals are great! I ame mini pizzas on them or Asian wraps with them.
  21. Spinach and broccoli are my other favorites (and asparagus)! I make my broccoli and my spinach the same way or steam the broccoli in low sodium chicken stock if I have extra open but I use a steamer so the broccoli isn't sitting in the liquid but it gets a little flavor. The Brussels sprouts come out tasty and the drizzle of balsamic sweetens them a little plus makes them a little tangy! Before I got surgery, I loved them cooked with shallots and bacon but knocked that recipe for the sake of good eating! API
  22. Zucchini has 7 grams of carbs for a cup and only around 30 calories so I would say enjoy! Yellow squash is 4 carbs and 40 calories for a cup so another good choice! I like them on the grill. Yum, might need to make some soon
  23. That sounds great! How do you prepare it?
  24. I love most veggies but have been on a Brussel sprout kick lately. I like to roast them in the oven with a drizzle of evoo salt and pepper and some balsamic vinegar. What's your fav veggie and how do you prep it?
