I work in an elementary school and last year I stood at the front door every day and saw the students as they came in to school. I also helped load many into cars in the afternoons and I have worked here for almost 10 years. At the start of this school year a couple of the students in 4th grade asked me who I am because they did not recognize me. I did change my hair a little too but nothing that drastic! I guess a 60 lbs. weight loss over the summer threw them off a little!
Sometimes the most hurtful things are not something someone says. My brother, who was somewhat against my surgery, has yet to say a word to me about my success. He never called to check on me while I was in the hospital either.

I'm in as well. My SW is 253.0 and my Halloween goal is 241.0.
Also, if you are interested, I'd be happy to track the progress from week to week and post it online so everyone can see. I'll add graphs at week 3 or week 4 as well. Here's the link for the online spreadsheet: http://sdrv.ms/19Qmc3j. (I'll change to the longer link if this short one doesn't work.)

THe peole that tell you it is the easy way out have no idea what we go through by having surgery. You can not argue or convence them otherwise. The best tactic is to ignore that kind of talk and have satisfaction in knowing you are going to do what is best for you and your health. Having the surgery is the best choice I have made for myself and it is the first time in my life that I have felt in control of my eating. My entire life I never knew what it was like to eat only because I had to and not because some unseen force was driving me to eat more and more and consuming my mind with the thoughts of food. I will say that this has been the most rewarding weight loss of my life because I am confident I can keep the pounds off this time and that is driving me to follow doctor orders and do my very best. Just keep your head held high and be confident in your decision. Make up your mind to do this and do it the right way and you can't fail. Best wishes!

I also tried many times to talk myself out of surgery and ended up prolonging it for several years. In that time I yo-yoed and felt pretty miserable. I was sleeved June 12th and total (pre and post op) weight loss is 40 pounds so far. The best outcome has been coming off of my diabetes meds. People keep asking me what foods do I miss eating and I can't say that I really miss anything. I am satisfied with what I eat and although food smells good I know that I feel better now than food ever made me feel. As time goes on I am sure I will be able to add back certain foods as long as I am reasonable about them and keep to a plan. That seems much more doable than ever before. My main goal is to have alternatives when the food choice is not what I feel I require. Sometimes that means lugging my cooler everywhere I go or having things in my purse that fit my needs. I'm not afraid to sit in a restaurant with friends and eat something I brought in rather than something off of the menu. The main thing is that I DO NOT complain, whine or make a big deal about doing this. I make out like its fine and normal if someone brings it up and I let them know it is my choice. Then I focus on a good time in good company and I do not let the talk center around my smaller stomach. This new lifestyle is not meant to hold you back but instead it's purpose is to help you spring forward and give you a new focus. Best wishes on your path forward!

I really needed to read this today. Deep thanks to all who posted!
I'm 9 days post-op and I've been so, so sad. My post-op diet is basically Protein shakes and pureed Soups. I'm limited to 4 oz per meal, and I'm hungry almost around the clock. I've been longing for the day when I can introduce more food. But the truth is, whatever that food is, it will never be enough.
I'm only a tiny fraction of the way through processing this, but the thought that pops into my head right now is: relax into the plan. My post-op diet couldn't be more clear, and it's obviously keeping me from eating the foods that were killing me.
Oh my goodness, I have so much mental work to do!

Go to the hardware store and get a decent sized pipe (3-4 inch pipe) that is about 10-12ft long put an end cap on one end and a twist off cap on the other fill with Water. Now carry said pipe in a crooked arm carry around the yard, now lift the pipe over head an do it again. You can vary the exercise by adding more water or also try walking backwards. One of the best core work outs I've ever done...using these slush pipes seems to target your weakest muscles in the back, core, and arms so it seems to work different things each week.

I do that too. Go online and get Unjury unflavored Protein and add it to things. I like to boil an egg, mash it up and add mayo, mustard, vinegar and half a scoop of the protein. Of course I add it to pudding, Soup, shakes and anything else I can think of!

I am a little over a week in and it's not that bad. I bought Premier Protein drink (chocolate) at costco and I love them. They are like chocolate milk to me but have 30 grams of Protein, 3 grams of fat and 5 carbs. My prayer is that I will still like them post op. I eat (drink) chicken broth and Greek yogurt plus some Jello. So far I've most about 10 pounds and I am already feeling better. My sugar levels are great!
