Cant get protien or fluid in!

Hang in there. I'm 8 weeks post op and I'm having the hardest time to take all of liquids in. I have had a horrible experience with the sleeve. I was nauseous from day one I stayed in the hospital longer than I should have right after surgery because I couldn't keep my liquids in. When I was home from the hospital on average I had 24-30 oz a day. Which I ended up 4 times in the ER with dehydration and the last time I was in the ER I stayed for two weeks in the hospital. I'm now home with a pic line and I get infused with a TPN bag that has all of my nutrients and sugar and fat our bodies need. I get migraines all the time and the thought of food sickens me because of the Nausea. I'm going on my third week of this And I still struggle to keeps fluids in. I'm not trying to scare you. I'm trying to help you prevent all of this to happen to you. Try your best to sip even if you have to set a timer for every 7 minutes to sip on water or protein shake. I'm on Zofran, Reglan nausea patch and I'm still nauseous. However ginger tea has help me a little and I suck on sugar free cinnamon candy. I read one thread here that pickle juice helps with the nausea but in stead it gave me the runs. I wish I was like sone people who's sleeves were a breeze and they are happy with the results. Unfortunately I was that 2% of people with complications. I have only lost 10 lbs in months. Try sugar free Popsicles see if that might help you get in more fluids that way. I completely understand your frustration.

    Uggh. Nausea back tonight.

No. I actually asked for second opinion before I jump into another major surgery that is not guaranteed me the outcome if it. And to be honest I'm so afraid of other complications. Thank God, this new surgeon is going to try her best to get me well and get rid of this nausea once and for all. I never imagined this to happen to me but there's no turning back all I can do is keep moving forward and let God and the surgeon take care of me because I'm so powerless over this situation. I'm staying positive and optimistic about my situation. And I have actually met someone in this sight that went through the same exact scenario as me and she pulled through and she is very happy with the results of the sleeve. This gives me hope.

No I didn't go through with it. I asked for a second opinion and the new surgeon wants to try different methods to see if the nausea will subside. She gave me new hope . Because honestly I'm terrified of the gastric bypass. I actually know of one other person here on this sight who had the same thing as me and she too was going to have the gastric bypass but her nausea went away after her TPN at home treatments. So I'm hopeful that I will to recover from this. I have to stay positive and determine. And give it my ALL because Lord knows I don't want another surgery again.

    Uggh. Nausea back tonight.

I feel your pain. I was just released from the hospital after two long weeks. I was nauseas from day one after my surgery. I'm almost seven weeks post op. But the nausea kicked my butt. So badly I had severe dehydration. Now I'm home with pic line and a TPN fluids for two weeks. I had never imagined this to have happen to me. While I was in the hospital I had two endonoscopy's and both times they stretched my new tummy because there was some narrowing. On top of IV nutrients I'm getting. I have the nausea patch I take zofran every 6 hours and phenagran as needed. Its been a nightmare for me. I fall under that one percent of patients that have chronic nausea Please be careful and try your best to keep that nausea under control so that you can keep your fluids in and not get yourself dehydrated and end up in the ER. Hang in there and keep us posted.
  9. Can anyone out her please help !!! I want to know if you had this problem right after your sleeve and did it last a long time. I'm going on 6 weeks of it and I'm hospitalized for 9 days and now my surgeon want to covert me into a gastric bypass I'm so scared and I need feed back from from you guys before I jump into another major surgery. I've been online trying to find a solution to my problem. I've had an Upper GI I've had an endoscopy but it all has been normal. I need feedback. Please HELP ME
  10. I'm 5 weeks out post op sleeve and from the very beginning I was very nauseas. My surgeon gave me Zofran and said it will take a little bit of time. I had to get use to my new stomach. Well 4 trips later to the ER with dehydration. And still nauseous they had to hospitalize me. I've been here 8 days and they had to give me everything through IV fluids including my protein. The only thing that helps my nausea is Phenegran by injection the pill form doesn't work for me. Im so miserable and unhappy with the sleeve. The sad thing is you dont know how your body will take it until you e had it done. I research this sleeve for two years before i decided to do it. Sadly I was not a good canditate for the sleeve. I'm now scheduled for gastric by pass for Monday. I would like some feedback and or words of encouragement in these difficult times for me.

10 Month Post Op - Before and After

    You look so Beautiful! Congrats!!!
  12. Thank YOU, Dee Dee For your kind loving message. And thanks for all the prayers too. I will definitely will be getting a second opinion today I hope.
  13. I'm definitely asking for a second opinion I was reading on line last night that it could be that I have a thiamine deficiency or to have my B12, Iron and Vitamin D levels checked and to ask to see a gastroenterologist which I will be doing today. I want to make sure I'm cleared on everything before I jump into another serious surgery. Also I have had an upper GI to see if there was narrowing on my sleeve but everything looked good. I had an endonoscopy and I had a stomach tissue biopsy to have checked for gastritis because the doctor who didi it said he saw some redness and gastritis has almost all the same symptoms as dehydration and I was hoping it was so that I could be treated for it but the pathology report was negative. It's so frustrating. I can't even sip on water without it making me sick. I haven't had any sort of food since before I was hospitalized 9 days ago. I'm so sad. I never imagine this would turn into a nightmare for me.
  14. Thank you all for the get well wishes. I have had nausea since my sleeve June 10th and I'm dehydrated with low blood pressure. My surgeon said that with the sleeve you still have a biliary duct and he believes that is what's causing the nausea and dehydration. I'm so scared for the gastric by pass but he said when he makes the pouch the nausea will instantly go away. I don't have much of a life right now and he said If I hold off another couple of weeks and maybe the nausea will go away. But it's not a guarantee. From all of my research on the sleeve I had never heard of sleeve revision to gastric by pass. My husband was here with me all day at the hospital I couldn't help but cry when he left . I feel horrible, scared and sadden by all that is happening to me. I have to try to stay positive. I just find it hard to do so. So help me God.
  15. WOW thanks for sharing. I'm curious to know What that ball thing inside your stomach was that he moved towards the end of your surgery ? I had mine done a month a go and I wish u had asked for video too. That was pretty cool to watch. Good Luck on your weight loss !

    Depression and anxiety

Hang in there. It will get better. I'm almost one month post op and I feel sad and blue too. And lack of energy, YES of course. But I have to remember that I was blessed with an amazing gift to life again with this new me. And everyday is a present and I have to remember to open it and live it up. For life is too precious to let it pass me by. Maybe you should seek professional help and they can help you too. Or join a support group. Chin up buttercup

What will IT look like? Maybe be tmi for some...

SahayLeigh you had me rollen. I so appreciate this post because I too had wonder about my cookie. I know there not the prettiest to begin with buy I DON'T want a FUUUUGLY one either. Witch is why I'm definitely doing a tummy tuck and a breast lift after my weight loss. And when I do have mine done I'm going to make sure I tell my doctor to make sure my cookie looks pretty again. I'm only 3 weeks post op, so I still have a while, till I cross that road But I will keep you posted !!!!! Funny Girl.
  18. I'm not disappointed but a little discouraged. Monday it will be three weeks post op for me and I had complications with my sleeve, I stayed longer than anticipated at the hospital because there was to much swelling in my stomach right after the surgery, I was given steroids too minimize the swelling. I am nauseas all the time, it's hard for me to take in all my liquids even after I've taken my meds. I'm tired all the time and I ended up back in the ER 9 days after my surgery with severe dehydration, I'm suppose to be on purée stage now but just about everything makes me sick and I keep track of my calorie intake on myfitness pal. And I'm consuming on average about 250-300 and I can drink about 28-35 oz of water. And today I got on the scale and I'm still only 4 lbs down since my sleeve. How is that possible ??? I'm so frustrated and disappointed. So feel your pain. I know we aren't all programmed the same. But when you read how some people lose 15 lbs in a month and I've only lost 4 and im three weeks in. It's very disappointing. I lost 26 lbs. pre-op and 4 post op. I was so discouraged I burst into tears this evening. It hasn't been easy for me at all. but I know I'm in this for the long haul. And I really hope I see better results in the next months to come. Hang In there.

    The day has come

Hang tight... This is a ride of a lifetime !!!!
  20. So today is my 3 day post op. My surgeon said he would be keeping an extra day because I can't keep anything down. And he doesn't want to send me home only to return to the ER due to dehydration. After the surgery it was non stop vomiting. Especially with the pain meds they were giving me. I have been walking around a lot since day one. But man was I feeling so sick and full of regret. I thought this was going to be easier. I can't even have water without getting sick. This blows, so I have been on steroids to reduce the swelling inside my abdomen. I know this will get better. But I hate feeling this sick. Has anyone been through the same thing as me ?
  21. Thank you guys for lifting me up. I saw my surgeon today for my 9 day post-op and I only lost 4 lbs since my surgery and when they did my vitals, I had low blood pressure, my doctor said I was dehydrated, so they attempted to start and IV line there at doctors office. (I've been taking all of my meds levaquin shots, omeprazole, zofran, and metoclopramide ) After 9 tries later, even my surgeon tried but no luck. My veins kept collapsing I ended up in the ER with two bags of fluids. When I got home this evening I was feeling nauseous but i thought maybe i needed my zofran, i couldn't in. I've been throwing up for the past 3 hours. If I this doesn't stop. I'm afraid I'm going to have to go back to the ER. I know this are just small bumps on road, but it's been really rough for me and i understand everyone is different but the sad part is you don't know until you get there. I sometimes wish I could have a fast- forward button. I know this too shall pass.
  22. OMG, Zen I'm so glad you made it through such a rough ordeal. They gave me some sort of steroids to minimize the swelling inside because I could keep anything in and I too had the ear nausea patch but it didn't do me any good. My doctor did say there's 1 out of 50 cases that will have nausea the first month or 6 weeks post op. ( I happen to be one of those lucky ones ) today I'm 8 days post op and last night was the first night I actually slept through the night. But I'm still having a hard time keeping fluids in. I can do 24-28 all day. And that's it. My doctor did switch me to the second phase when I was releases from the hospital. But all I can drink is the Premium Protein shakes. It takes me almost two hours to drink one. But I'm doing it. Thank you for your encouraging words. And Congrats on your weight loss Tomorrow will be the first time I weight in since the surgery. I'm excited !
