I just found out today I am approved for surgery. I didn't think I would be approved this fast, so I'm kinda on edge a little bit. Plus my weight keeps fluctuating 1-3 pounds everyday, which makes me nervous. I started doing a liquid diet yesterday, not so bad. But I'm just wondering what others did to prepare for their surgery? I'm hoping to have surgery the end of this month or the first couple days of February.

When ever I had my Gallbladder surgery last year, I had staples on my stomach. They just took them out on the followup appointment. But mine did hurt when he was taking them out, just because I was so sore and bruised. It also just feels weird having the staples come out.

Well I got called by the insurance cordinator at my surgeons office this morning They just sent my paperwork to insurance today !! I'm already out of pocket $1,500 for this year. And also my surgeons office is very strict on paperwork, they even make the paperwork for each month for the diet plan for the primary care dr to fill out so that way all info stays togther and they faxed those every visit back to the surgeons office.

I'm so excited and nervous!!! Finally finally finally this time has come to where my 6 months can be sent out to insurance.
I got a little side tracked since I had Emergency surgery on getting my appendix removed in Sept 13', so that set me back and I had complications after for a month. Finally got over that and got better. Yay!!
But this past monday my primary care dr forgot to add Cleared for Surgery on the letter. Which for my insurance ( Cigna ), you have to have "cleared and recommend for surgery" in the letter. So had to go yesterday and talk to the surgeons office and then go downstairs to my primary care dr to write a note on what needed to be added. Then got a call this morning on the way to work that they had added cleared for surgery in the letter and had faxed it over to my surgeons office!! YAY!!
Then this afternoon got a call about from my insurance coordinator about how everything is all set and that the only thing is now is to have my surgeon review everything for me then it will go off to insurance !!
Now the wait begins for everything to be reviewed by my surgeon and sent off!!! I'm getting excited!!

I have cigna too!!! I am calling monday to find out from my surgeons office to see if it was sent in. did you have a deductible for insurance ? I just had emergency appendix surgery so I'm already out of pocket $1,500 this year. So I'm not sure if I would have to pay deductible or not if I got to do the surgery by the end of this year??

How do you find out how to donate your eggs? I've been wondering about this for a few months. I think it would help someone who cant have kids.

Wow thats really Great!
I'm Pre-op and have one more weigh in this month and one more next month!! I fee like time has flown really fast since May. I'm nervous and excited and just want to see what usually the average is for each month. Its taken me 4 months to lose 13..... and my weight likes to fluctuate between 262 and then goes up to 265 at times. Which I get irritated with that but then I remember its just another day and I find my self getting obsessed with the scale. So I've had to just make myself weigh only 3 times a week. I was weighing every morning and night.
But Yes I understand completely that I will have stalls with weight loss and I just like to see where everyone was at. I see different ranges where some people lose 120 in 6 months and some that lose 40 in 6months. Which I know for myself I will push my self to really hard to limits where I know I will make goals for each month on working out and how much I want to lose each month.

I'm at a stall for loosing weight on my 6 month diet. So I was going to do a liquid diet for the next 2 wks to see if it would help.

It's to shrink your liver and after surgery you won't be able to handle regular food. You will have to do liquid diet for a couple weeks after to get your stomach use to that and then you will slowly progress to puréed stage then to regular food stage

Congrads!!
What was your weight at surgery?

I'm just wondering how did you sleep after surgery? Did you rent a hospital bed and sleep in it?
I just remember after my gallbladder surgery last year, I couldn't even sleep on my bed at all for 2 months. I had to sleep on the couch with tons of pillows behind me and had to sleep sitting almost straight up.

I remember when I had my emergency gallbladder surgery last year that I wore a underwire bra and I was comfortable since it was low enough were it didn't hit the top staple line near my bra area.

Thank you!!
Oh I learned on how emotional it was in Sept when I had emergency appendix surgery and had complications for a month and spent that month in and out of the hospital. I lost 22 pounds in one month because I couldn't eat really anything. I was basically over eating and didn't want to eat because of the pain and was just sick.
