Just like diets with surgeons..obgyns differ so much in their opinions too..mine tells me mirena is perfect for people before kids lol.
Oh absolutely! I know to a of people with mirena before children
-
Wow I was told that it took a month to be in your system..not on depo anymore though...my primary wouldnt even let me consider this surgery on depo since the risk of weight gain. I'm on mirena now
Yeah my doctor even gave me papers explaining how quickly it's in your system. My doctor doesn't like soon mirena or any other IUD on people who haven't had any children yet. As far as weight gain goes I gained tons of weight when I took bc pills. I haven't gained any weight due to mirena yet. I took my bc pill until the day I had surgery. I started my period the day after surgery so 4 days later I got my shot.

The depo takes a little while to start working...id be careful
Well I was It technically is in your system as soon as you get the shot. My doctor told me to still use condemns for the first week to be safe (I did) My doctor said even if I didn't though I'd be fine.

Also, maybe you should measure yourself maybe you are losing way more inches but the scale hasn't caught it yet. Pre-op I would lose crazy inches but the scale never moved. Everyone is different. A lot of people in stalls say upping their calories has helped. Keep us posted!

kcolli28- wow we sound pretty similar. <img src='http://www.bariatricpal.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> Maybe doing some cardio is whats missing from the mix for me. I feel really good with foods and am able to take in tiny bites of chicken breast which is really helping with Protein intake. Can I ask you what a typical daily menu is for u?Thanks!
Absolutely!!
Breakfast- egg beaters (1/4 cup)
Between Breakfast and lunch- Protein shake (8 oz)
Lunch- cottage cheese (1 oz) and peaches in peach juice ( I usually only get like 3 bites in)
Between lunch and dinner- milk (8 oz)
Dinner- 1 oz flaky fish and about 4 green Beans
Then Ofcourse tons of Water between.
My cardio right now looks like 30 minutes on the treadmill (walking) and 30 minutes on the bike I then also try to do some weights but I'm usually pretty exhausted after all that. I hope this helps!!!

Hi everyone-I spent a lot of time on this forum when trying to decide if to go through with the sleeve and really appreciate everyone's opinions and information. I ended up getting sleeved on May 22. I spent 5 years trying to work off weight with every diet and pills available. I was hospitalized for a month with my last pregnancy due to pre term labor and got Magnesium sulfate IV drip 24hours per day. This ended up both stunting all functions including metabolism and causing late onset gestational diabetes because it stunted insulin function. After being thin all of my life- I gained 90 pounds by the end of that pregnancy and was never able to work off the weight. Its been a very long and depressing process.
After my GP suggested I do the sleeve and did some intensive research and a month later had it done. Today is my 3 week anniversary. I have lost 17 pounds- 10 of which happened in the first week' date=' 5 at the beginning of the second week and for the last week and a half only 2 pounds.
I'm very grateful for every pound lost, but I am having a difficult time understanding how at 500-600 calories per day I have not lost more than 2 pounds in the last week and a half. I start to get really nervous that just like all the diets I did before didnt work, this won't work either- and there are no more options after this.
I am trying to stay positive and keep up with correct food intake. 70-80grams of Protein, 500-600 calories and low carbs and sugars.
Any experience that you may have or know of thats similar would really help! Please share.
Thanks for being there.[/quote']
I was sleeved the 22nd also. So far I have lost 20 lbs. 15 the first 8 days, then very slowly lost 2 lbs. I just got back into the gym and dropped 3. I say your on track. I know for me I was hoping to lose more, but again happy with every pound lost. When I had my follow-up appointment I had already lost the 15% of body fat that I was intended to lose by week 6. It'll happen for us!! Keep going and don't get discouraged!!!

I have RA and Fibromyalgia and I have been feeling wonderful. I don't take meds for it but cymbalta. I even questioned if I truly have it because since surgery I have not had a flair up at all. I was sleeved on 4-29.That's really good to hear. That gives me a lot of hope for my RA and fibro!!

Thanks ill remember that. Ill have to ask my nut if i can add chia seeds now or maybe take something to keep me regular haha.
-
It takes awhile for things to back to normal . . .I am 12 weeks out - still not normal...Oh good, I was so concerned lmao!
-
I'm never comfortable talking about bowel movements, but I'm not sure if everything is normal. I am 19 days post-op and four days ago I had my first solid bm. (I was on liquids until 14 days out) I have taken that one solid bm an that's it. I haven't gone since. I was going regularly prior to surgery and going regularly after surgery (although diarrhea).
Any help?

That's definitely where I'll start. I can just see me walking from the parking lot to the locker room of the gym' date=' then turning around and walking out because I was "done".[/quote']
That's exactly what I was afraid of lmao!!
-
Oh also, I forgot to mention, I went back to the gym yesterday. But as soon as you feel up to it. I was walking grocery stores, malls, neighborhood, etc. prior to going to the gym.
-
Thank you so much for sharing. It gives me encouragement for recovery :-)
Absolutely! I was so worried for awhile. Just take it easy for now! It's much better when you start actually eating.
-
For me I couldn't have it until 4 weeks out. Everyone's "diet plan" is different though

Omgosh i felt the same way!! I didn't understand why, because I had never been so exhausted after walking the grocery store. Turns out it was just post-op recovering. I am now 19 days post-op and I am going to the gym. I still feel like sh*t when I get back from the gym, but it's because in pushing myself. It will get better! I am happy someone posted on this. When I had this problem I thought my Iron was low.
-
Congrats on your first step!! Good luck on your journey!!

I am not quite at the point that people can tell I've lost weight (18 days pre-op), however my family keeps saying they are so proud of me,which is frustrating. Why are you proud of me?? I had to have surgery to lose weight, which I think is fantastic, but I don't see why they are so proud.
-
what kind of jerk would say that?!? I'd be tempted to say "I guess my face matches your soul." haha
I literally just laughed out loud for like 5 minutes. That is exactly the response I would say.

I am having my surgery tomorrow and was on full liquids today and all I can think about is food. It's like I am obsessing over the fact that I won't be able to eat for x amount of days and I am terrified that I will still have this fixation on food even after the surgery. (I will be seeing a counselor to get to the bottom of my dependency on food)I guess I am looking for someone to tell me it will all be okay. I am scared and nervous about tomorrow.
For me as soon as I came out of surgery food was the last thing I wanted. I was thirsty!! But almost everyone I talked to said you won't be hungry after surgery and I thought no way of course ill be hungry but I wasn't. I am 18 days post op and still don't really want food. It'll get so much easier!! The hard part is getting to your surgery!! Good luck on your surgery and new life!!

Also, I must say I have a boyfriend. That might be coming out of nowhere, but just invade I thought I should mention it.

Stupid Question?
in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A

I used goo gone to take it off but it wasn't in my actual incisions just around them. I did have tape on three of my incisions and they said if that didn't fall off in 5-7 days I could remove it.
