I was sleeved 6/26 and have mod-severe RA' date=' hypothyroid, planters faciitis, metabolic syndrome and sleep apnea. I am "pre-diabetic" and my cholesterals jump around.....I gained 11 pounds Water weight in hospital, surgery weight was 322, when released on Friday it was 333, as of tonight (Tuesday) I weigh 314!! Lost the Water weight plus 8 more pounds in 4 days! That is crazy! So far I have not taken my RA or thyroid medicine, and have no related pains yet. I have a call into my PCP to ask if I can crush my synthroid, since pharmacist said to check with her on that one...so far no answer....I was told to wait a few weeks before I continue my Enbrel injector Pen, until my incisions heal, and I may have to switch to injectable methotrexate at that time since I take 8 tablets at once. I am hoping and praying my RA might actually go into remission like others have....I have had daily pain from it for 4.5 years since it hit, a break would be nice, lol.......I only take my surgical pain med at bedtime now and feel pretty "normal" all day, whatever that really means, lol...I get to drive tomorrow!! Going to see a movie -No popcorn or soda though!!Prior to surgery, I took all of meds up to the day before except the Enbrel and methotrexate.....I stopped them one week prior per my surgeons directions. So I have not had my RA meds for 2 weeks, with no problems so far, knock on wood....
I only had to do the pre-op diet for 2 weeks, but I did it for 3 weeks to get used to it. I had 2 Protein shakes during the day and one nutritious meal in the evening. I gave up sofas and caffeine then too. Had to wean myself off caffeine over a 2 week period prior to starting my pre op diet though, a little at a time to avoid withdrawal and headaches. I did not have a weight loss (amount of pounds) requirement luckily.
How is everyone else doing with your autoimmune diseases post surgery? Any issues pre-surgery? Things you have to change? Questions? :-)[/quote']
I had surgery on 5/22. I went off all my RA meds for 2 months prior (I got sick and then by the time I was better it was time to get then out if my system) I am 6 weeks out and still off my Remicade infusion, methotrexate, Folic acid, and naproxen. Unfortunately, the past couple days my hands have been slightly swollen, so it's probably about time I go back on everything. I just don't want to! It's so nice not having to take a million pills in the morning!

I have ms and fibro. So fatigue and pain are my norm.... But 4 months post op and I can say my energy is getting better and my joints are near as painful as they were pre op. Also I have noticed my Migraines have occurred less frequently. Which is a true blessing.I am wondering if there is a way to get a forum dedicated to autoimmune sleevers. That way we can have a place to discuss the sleeve and how it has interacted with our autoimmune disease. I see a lot with RA' date=' psoriatic arthritis, lupus, fibro, and a few with MS, and I think it would be a great place for us to share stories, tips, successes, ect. Does anyone know how we would request that?[/quote']
I messaged Alex about getting a forum dedicated to autoimmune sleevers. I never got a response :/

How much weight have you lost? As our bodies change the guy will def be able to go deeper (less cushion for the pushin)' date=' but I think that just requires communicating about how deep he should go or trying different positions.
If you have lost a substantial amount of weight you can be experiencing decreased vaginal lubrication bc you have less estrogen (fat 'makes' estrogen). Keep giving it a try and hopefully it'll get better![/quote']
That's the weird thing I've only lost about 34 lbs. it's so strange to me. Maybe ill try lube see if it helps.

You should talk to your gyn...ive heard that that happens but not til way later in the weight loss
Yeah I probably will talk to my gyno. I think the pelvic thing bothers me the most. I have always had pain in certain positions (tilted uterus) so from behind is pretty much a no go.
-
Sex is actually really painful for me now. I had great sex before surgery with my boyfriend. Since my surgery (may 22nd) my vagina hurts the whole time. I believe it's because I lost weight on the outside of my vagina. I can feel our pelvic bones grinding and it's uncomfortable. My boyfriends penis also goes so much deeper, which normally wouldn't be a bad thing but for me it's still too much. I want to like sex again but right now it's uncomfortable.
Please tell me I'm not alone here!

Anyone else notice after a long awaited BM you feel bad the rest of the day? My entire abdomen gets crampy and I feel overall crappy- no pun intended.... Tell me I'm not alone here.Your not alone here. I still don't have normal bm. I feel really gassy throughout the day though.

I got one too! It's really nice! I haven't been To any restaurant that won't use it! Also, sometimes they can give you just a side order of what you want or a smaller portion.

I am just over 4 weeks and am also struggling.. I thought it was because I was eating to quickly' date=' but I am not sure. I do ok still with smushy food, but the more solid Protein makes me throw up. I think it is a trial and error kind of thing. Remember to take small bites and eat slow, which is so hard to do with real food!!![/quote']Yeah, that's what I first thought but I've been putting my utensils down when I eat. I eat with children's forks to prevent large bites and cut my food up first. I hope it's just trial and error. I have been so excited with my new taste buds and trying new bariatric recipes. Now I don't even want to eat. I dread it and fear ill throw up

My doctor talks people out of lapband most the time. When I went to my dr for the first time
I went in about the sleeve. My dr said a lot of people have complications with reactions, slippages, and not losing a lot of weight. My doctor said with the sleeve you have to work VERY hard to gain it back and stretch your stomach back out. When you get the sleeve or band you need to change your diet point blank. So no matter what your friend got she should be eating well and working out and shouldn't have to worry about it.
My opinion don't do the band. Everyone I know with the band only lost like 50 lbs max.

I actually love weighing myself now. I weigh myself everyday and even through the stalls I've seen a pattern of how long I stall before I lose. I use to hate weighing myself, but now I love it!!

I am 5 weeks post-op today. I have been worried because I am barely getting in one ounce of food at each meal, but other than that I've done great. On Saturday I threw up beef. Since Saturday I have thrown up 3 other times. It's almost all been meat. I also have been in pain eating anything solid. I don't know what's going on. I see my doctor Tuesday, but thought I'd see if anyone else has had this problem. Prior to this week I could eat meat and eat things without being in pain.

Kcolli28 I think you and I are on similar paths we hit onederland same time and I am having the same pooping pattern it seems. How far out from surgery are you? I know I won't start to normalize until I start getting some protein' date=' but I'm not allowed for another 6 days. <img src='http://www.bariatricpal.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='
