I'm approved!
Just found out today that my insurance has approved my procedure for the 25th of September. I'm so excited and nervous at the same time. I have my blood work and physician sign off to do next week. Also doing the endoscopy September 12th. Anyone else had to do the endoscopy?

Why Does Weight Loss Surgery Fail?
That's exactly what I have always thought. It's a conspiracy plot from the manufactures' of food products and restaurants' to advertise food on all network stations. We know how food tastes so why advertise it? They will claim, it's all for increasing their sales but, I beg to differ.

What Obesity Is Doing To You!
Thank you Alex, if it wasn't for you we would all be lost. It's because of your struggles for support you developed these sites and to that I thank you...

i might die
Newbie, I'm sorry you're going through all of this. It is bad enough that the first week to 4 weeks are tough that you have to make these new adjustments to eating but, to have a passive aggressive chef on board who is not supporting you, you should kick 'em to the curb. I haven't had my surgery yet but, reading these forums are very helpful to me to know what to expect before my first appointment to the Nutritionist, psychologist, and Dr. Appointments. Stick with this forum and reach out as often as you can. Use your other resources such as your doctor and nutritionist, etc... Good luck to you and remember why you did the surgery and what you know the end result will be... Don't give up!!!

Does anyone have BCBS Empire?
Just wanting to know if anyone has had any problems with this insurance. Was there any surprises on the approval process? What has the insurance asked to have submitted to them? Thank you ahead of time for this info...

Who has baggy skin after VGS?
I am wondering who has had the experience of loose skin when approaching weight loss goal? Does everyone who has surgery have loose skin or have you snapped back to shape? Of you have snapped back to place, how much weight did you lose? Any info would be great. I'm still going to have VGS, just want to find out.

- Insurance delay?!?
Okay, that gives me better hope. Thank you- Insurance delay?!?
I have BCBS as well. Darn they better not give me any crud.- New - doctor recommeded I join
Yes, a program fee that covers Protein powder, Vitamins, pre and post-op exercise physiology eval. Message board access, support group for life, program and insurance administration, and unlimited dietician support for the first year after surgery.- Insurance delay?!?
What insurance company do you have?- New - doctor recommeded I join
Bright eyes, this is a great place to get support and information. Welcome aboard. I too have my first appt psych, nutrition, etc, in August 12th. My coordinator says the next thing will be scheduling for my surgery. Does your doctor have a program fee? Mine is $1000.00 out of pocket that insurance will not pay. Good luck to you.- Protein drinks
Good luck to you. I haven't gotten to my first appointment which is August 12th as many of the doc's (Nutritionist, psychologist, and Bariatric doctor) are out on vacation. Keep me posted on what you find that you like as I will be doing the protein shakes next month. Thank you for your post.- 4 1/2 months post op
Need to go back to the basics. Re-evaluate why you wanted to have this surgery done. Be careful because you can stretch out your stomach and the surgery would be all for nothing. Do you want to be overweight the rest of your life? Need to ask yourself that question. You've made it this far, don't revert back to the beginning.- Seriously? Does everyone exercise?
My Nutrition class, Psych eval, and physician meet is on August 12th. My surgery date will follow thereafter. I'm not much of a person who likes to exercise but, after having such an invasive surgery, I WILL LISTEN TO MY PHYSICIAN... I am so not going to mess around with this. This surgery will be my only hope as I have struggled all my life with my weight and have always been obese. Good luck!- Just found out
That's great to hear. I hope I can get mine done around August because the program fee is a $1000.00 and I need time to save up. Not to mention the co-pay office visits. On top of that, my husband's company is closing so we have insurance till the end of December 2013. So I think everything will be ok. Good luck to you- Just found out
I just found out that my insurance has approved me. I do not have to do any 3-4-5 or 6 month supervised diet. Insurance just wants psych eval, nutrition visit and dr visits. I've filled out all my paperwork and insurance only needs detailed diet attempts and primary dr letter of concern. My Bariatric dr is a 2 hr drive for me. So they e-mailed me the forms to fill out and e-mailed them back. Once my coordinator gets all the ducks in a row, she will schedule an appointment for a physician consult, psych eval, and nutrition class all in one day. It should be by mid August 2013 when my procedure happens. I will keep you updated. My preference is the gastric sleeve. - Insurance delay?!?
