  1. I flew from Texas to Memphis with no issues at all. I stayed an extra day just to make sure it was all going to be fine but I could have flown the day before. I was a little nauseous as well those first couple of days but before my feet hit the floor I chewed one of the nausea pills Dr. A gave me before I left. After that there was no issues in drinking the chicken broth I brought with me. I sure didn't think I would have ever just drank chicken broth but it was really good. I used the coffee maker in the room to dissolve it. mmm, mmm good.
  2. Dr. Alvarez and team are fantastic! 8700 but well worth it. I have seen a lot of reviews on here for many doctors in Mexico and I too was reading everything I could find. I chose Dr. Alvarez because of the overwhelming positive responses I had read and one other medical thing.. . . I did not want to wake up from surgery and have a tube coming out of me that they would have to remove before I went home. No , no. No tube of any kind. I tried to think it was ok and from what I had read it wasnt going to be that bad but to me I just didn't want to deal with it. I'm 2 weeks post op and I returned to work today, no issues, no problems. Down 21 pounds!

    Dr. Alavrez patients...

My surgery was 6/8 with Dr. Alvarez. Absolutely wonderful experience! I lost 20 lbs in the first week and 1 pound the second (most likely because 20 pounds was way to much for the first week). I'm 5'7 and 224 the day of surgery. There is nothing to worry about if you handle any surgery ok. They literally guide you through the whole process and stay with you the whole time to make you feel like everything is under control. I followed the post surgery meal plan the first week to a tea and followed it fairly well the second week. The changes I made in the second week weren't bad one's, like I diluted mash potatoes from the box and made potatoe soup one day but I felt watered down mash potatoes were about the same consistency as yogurt so I went for it. I don't want to do anything to mess this up because my doctor isn't in the U.S. so I don't feel like I can just run to someone. Since everything has been going so well I haven't worried about following up with a doctor here but feel I should before to long just for my own piece of mind. Like KSREDHEAD's comment, I was not in pain at all the day of surgery. I've really had no "pain" at all. It feels like you have sore stomach muscles from doing too many sit ups. Dr. Alvarez sent me an email this past week to find out how things were going and I told him I have to really be careful because I feel so good that I have to keep reminding myself that I am just two weeks out from surgery. Lovin life right now and can't wait till some more time passes so that I can get some more of this weight off of me!

Mizzougirl - have you shared your surgery story anywhere on the web yet. i would love to know how it went. I'm really interested in the day of surgery and how you felt when you woke up.

This is what I wanted to hear. I'm wanting to think I'll be alright to come back to work after only 9 days off but I'm concerned sitting all day will not be good for my stomach and I just won't feel like I have the energy to function but your story let's me know its at least possible.

Yeah, I thought to myself i didn't care what people thought until I told one particular person at work and boy did I get it for the next 15 minutes on how people that get this surgery stretch their stomachs back out and how so and so did it and didn't do to good. It was so funny though because once she finished all that rambling she told me how she had just recently lost all her weight again doing weight watchers and she was really sticking to it this time because it works when you stick to it. She never made the connect that both methods are the same. It has to be a lifestyle either way. I decided then that i didn't want to hear anyone else's opinion. Even though their opinion doesn't play a part in my life, I don't want to hear it in the first place.
  10. Did you do anything special that would have contributed to your not having any pain with gas and heartburn like the other stories I've read?
  11. My Surgery with Dr. Alvarez is scheduled for this Saturday ! Lord, the time just flew by. I'm excited and can't wait. I've heard so many good things about him and the staff that I really feel everything is going to go perfectly but there's still that thought in the back of your head related to all those ladies talking about how they couldn't swallow and had really bad gas and heartburn the day after surgerly. Lord, I hope I follow in the footsteps of the less hurtful ones.
  12. Hi ksredhead, When did you have the surgery by Dr. Alvarez?
  13. Anyone being sleeved on June 8th?
  14. Oh My Gosh! I'm so sorry to hear you are having this difficulty. I haven't been sleeved yet so I can offer much in the way of advice but I wanted you to know someone is out here thinking of you and praying you get to feeling better soon.
