    2 months post op

Hey Deb thanks for responding 65 lbs down since surgery is awesome! My surgeon told me that I my weight loss will slow down down over the next 3 months. That being the case i walk a 4 miles a day 2 in the morning and 2 at night NO MATTER WHAT! That along with seeing my trainer 3xs per week, and of course my main tools my doggie Jackson, & (Sleevenstein) the weight is coming off constantly. Now I make sure i get my 80 to 100 grams of protein in everyday. I've learned that you have to bump up your caloric intake when you are working out or your body will hold on to the weight; well that's my non scientific explanation lol. Keep pushing Deb we got this for the rest of our healthy lives. Go go go!

    350+ Sleevers?

I started at 459lbs at surgery I weighed in at 384. Today starting my 8th week pos op I'm 335. I'm off my 2 blood pressure meds that I've been on for over 8 years. I'm walking 4 miles a day (which just 8 months ago I would have looked at you crazy if you suggested I walk 1 short block!). I have another 126 lbs to hit my goal weight of 210. My surgeon says I should shoot for a goal between 230 & 260 lbs, but HELL NO 210 is my goal.
  3. Taking all my supplements on time. Drinking 48 oz or more of liquid per day. Walking 4miles a day with an avg pace of 18 per mile. Working out for 1 hour a day. Eating 3 meals and 3 Snacks everyday without skipping. Taking in 80 to 100 grams of Protein everyday. Getting 6-8 hours of sleep everyday. Add more ideas lets get of motivation on!

    October Sleevers - Who else

Congratulations BigLew. Hitting those milestones and goals is an Awesome feeling isn't it?
  5. Driving to Los Angeles from Visiting my mom and vacationing in Las Vegas. I have to say it was and is the biggest eating challenge of my post op era. Finding and making good food choices in Vegas is almost near impossible most of the casino/hotels serve extra large full of fat, sugar, & sodium meals. This is so hard. I'm out of my element meaning I can't control how I make my meals on this 12 day vacation.
  6. Patva I avoided the buffets like it was rush hour traffic near LAX. As for alcohol I haven't had any since 3 months pre op. I did a lot of walking and working out while there.
  7. Thanksgiving dinner at my mom's place was interesting as usual. I decided to morph into take charge man when I arrived. I set the table, coordinated all the food, and cleaned all the dishes afterwards. I was so busy that no one noticed I did not eat other than my mother who was very very very upset that I could not eat any of her delicious creations because they all were too high in fat, sugar, and sodium. I explained to her that this is how I will view and consume food for the rest of my life. She was not hearing it! My Aunt explained my mother's reasoning to me; "mother's put their love into their cooking and it wounded her pride and ego when I did not eat." At one point I found here crying alone, I consoled her and explained again I was not rejected her, but this is my life and I want to live. She was not having it. Arrrrrgggghhhhh!
  8. I was sleeved on October 14, 2013, so I'm 3 1/2 weeks post-op. I know I could benefit from having 1 or 2 people who have been there and done that. So HELP! LOL Looking forward to the journey of living a better healthy lifestyle.

    Is Starbucks Bad And Evil?

I'm 6 1/2 weeks post op that being said. Hi i'm Ken and I am a Starbucks addict!! I've come to terms with it, so I limit myself to one visit a day compared to my usual 3 - 4. Instead of getting my grande mocha latte I've been ordering a Short Soy sugar free vanilla latte with half the pumps of syrup that comes with it only 70 calories.
  10. This is the third time after working out that I have experienced severe headaches caused by having low blood sugar; however, I check my blood sugar randomly and its always normal except for recently post workout. I have not been diagnosed as diabetic. I am 6 weeks post op. I'm wondering if I should eat right before working out now? Any thoughts folks????
  11. Thanks I was thinking the same thing. I'll take a Protein shake b4 workouts going forward.

    Muscle Mass

Make sure to get the required amount of protein down each day. I'm 5 weeks post op and last Saturday started back with my trainer. I supplement my protein intake with 1 New Whey protein shot it has 42g of protein per shot, this will help keep your body from burning muscle.

    Cookbooks?

charlie and klaker I know there are many cookbooks out there concerning bariatric surgery their is one of those "for dummies" book i do have it "somewhere", don't remember the title go to your bookstore - they can help you hopefully others will chime in good luck kathy Thanks ProudGrammy My NUT told me about the Dummy's cookbook for post bariatric patients as well as "Eating WELL AFTER WEIGHT LOSS SURGERY" by Patt Levine and Michelle Bontempo-Saray. I bought the Kindle version for iPad through Amazon for $9.99. It looks great!
  15. I've made three trips to donate my size 60 and above clothing to GoodWill over the last 2 weeks. I'm flying to Los Angeles tomorrow so i'm packing and went upstairs to my storage room and realized I have 30 nice & expensive dress shirts and 2 leather jackets hanging in there. I got really sad thinking how much i had spent on all of them. To make myself feel better about being obese I would buy new clothes all the time. Today seeing all the money invested/wasted made me feel really guilty. I know the right thing is to donate them and I will, but is it normal to feel the loss?

    Ladies And Gents

Linda The first 2 days if the pre-op diet were lets say CHALLENGING; however, once you get passed them it will be a breeze. Just keep yourself busy. I cleaned my apartment over and over. I detailed my car like 20 times. My goal was to get as healthy as I could for the surgery.

    Cookbooks?

Amazing I'm 5 weeks and today I was thinking the same thing. I'm getting bored eating the same thing over and over. I'm going to do some research this evening. I'll post my findings when I'm done.
  18. This is my first week on full solids and it has been a major challenge to eat dime sized bites slowly. I'm so used to eating quickly so that I can get back to work or so that others won't see me eating and judge me. I had to force the 2 to 3 ounces to come up about 7x's since last Friday. Ugh not fun at all. Steamed Salmon seems to be the worst of all the food that I can't keep down.

    October Sleevers - Men's Room

As of the 14th of November I was 1 month post op. Today was my first day back with my trainer in almost 2 months and he was blown away with how much weight I've lost and my high energy level. What a great feeling that was. I'm actually doing it!!!

Today was my one month post op date. The time has really flown by I also started full solid foods as of today as well.
  21. I've decided to treat my stretch marks as badges of honors from where I've come from and where I'm going. I will embrace each and every one of them!

    Sleep Apnea

I was diagnosed with severe sleep apnea in November 2012. I one of the special people that the Regular cpap machine fooled my brain into not telling my body to breath, so I use a BiPap machine that breaths for me until my body kicks in. I was sleeved on 10/14/12, I'm down 30 lbs post op and 96 lbs total since May. I have an appointment with the sleep Center this Friday and am hoping to hear some great news about scaling back on the use of the BiPap machine.
  23. My surgeon prohibited flying for 30 days due to the high risk of blood clots post surgery. I know surgeons have different rules, but please please folks get opinions from multiple professional sources in the medical field before flying after any surgery.
