  1. They were ProtiDiet Soups. Tomato and creamy chicken. The tomato was awful and pink, and the creamy chicken wasn't awful, but I'm not sure I could handle it. I'm just bummed cause they have 15g of Protein. I was so surprised, since the concentrate stuff is so good. Bahahahahahaha. That gave me a good lol. Cinnamon. Ha!

i have tried proti-stuff before in my pre-op....blech! i bought the puddings...well, i spent so much money on them and they are high in protein so im gonna figure out a way to use them. but definitely, i know now to just make regular food, and use the unflavored protein to add to it! i tried protidiet caramel pudding - made the cup of pudding, took a few bites. it was alright...if i can add something it might taste better, idk what tho...well, i ate half, then got a shower and when i came back, it was this nasty liquid something or other in the cup, like it completely lost its pudding texture!!

  2. Woo hoo! Tomorrow! And I'm doing good. I'm I'm that "I'm paranoid that I don't have what I'll need to drink/"eat" after surgery mode. I'm trying to figure it everything I need to do tomorrow, since Tuesday I have class then that awesome bowel prep.... But so far, I'm far too excited to be nervous. And yes it is. We got this!!

my surgery is tomorrow morning (Monday).i have my times of nervousness, and my times of feeling calm and collected lol i have to be to the hospital at 6am.

  3. My sister and I walked to the Walmart several times. You make a right after you exit the front of the Marriott and it's up the hill about 1/2 mile. You are walking along a major highway and have to cross one busy street, so to me, the traffic was the most "dangerous" part. Not sure about walking completely alone, though. The husband of a fellow patient walked several places by himself, but one, he's a guy, and two, he spoke Spanish. I'd ask the bell hops in the lobby what they recommend.

I just made the trek myself...it wasnt bad, i went in the afternoon. It's a nice walk, i'll be doing that again. :) I just met 3 other people at the pool area who had surgery with dr. ariel ortiz and the OCC yesterday and they are doing great. it was nice to bump into them and hear more positive things about the OCC and helps solidify in my mind the decision i am making! :)

  4. You will do great! But feel free to cry away. I'm sure it's scary to be there by yourself, but the Marriott staff is really friendly and you will meet fellow sleevers on Monday. Our gang of 5 (plus Slvrsax for a short time :)) had a fun 3 days bonding and kinda travelled in a "pack".

kindle, they told me there is a Walmart nearby...is it within walking distance? ok to walk or should i take taxi? never been in MX before, can you tell?! lol i only brought a carry on so i need some items that i couldnt bring and i could really use a stretch of the leg after 8 hrs on a plane today!

  5. The shuttle just picked me up from the airport. I have today and tmw to think about how crazy I am. I go in on Monday at 6:10am. Starting to freak a little like what am I doing! I think I was so busy researching the logistics of things that I failed to think about the emotional side of things. The good thing is a fellow sleever I met on here is having the surgery same day as me down here and she will arrive tmw so I will have a friend. But right now I think I need to run to my hotel room and have a good cry about what I am about to do! Who's idea was it for me to go to Mexico for major surgery?!! Lol...kinda ;)

  6. "Never trade what u want most for what u want at the moment" I know this is hard it's darn right tuff but uve come way too far. I truly understand that the struggle is real!!! Hang in there it's so worth it. Maybe take some alone time to ponder why uve chosen to embark upon this WLS journey, maybe view VSG before and after Picts that showcase other people success stories on UTube, or take some time and think about where u will be 3-6 months from now after surgery with ur new tool. I haven't started my pre-op diet yet and I'm not looking forward to it but when the time come I'm sure during that time I may need u to remind me of my own quote above. Hang in there u got this! We r all here for u and understand totally how ur feeling.

you are so right! good encouragement :)

  7. This is day 5 of my 2 week preop diet....and the first real day I have struggled. The preop Soups and shakes are nauseating today. The snow is heavy and I am stuck in the house with my kids and surrounded by valentines candy and Cookies. I haven't given in to temptation yet. And I'm staying strong, but I am worried...can I do this..can I make it....how will I do after surgery??

I totally feel you! I am on day 12 of my 15 day pre-op diet. At first it was hard, then it got easier. Now I'm miserable again. I want the surgery done... Im just so hungry now that i cant have salads to help fill me up with Protein shakes! hang in there!!!

  8. Good luck. It's all pretty easy. My starting weight was 213 and I'm 5"1. I was suppost to loose 10-20 lbs and I lost 20. Only lost 8 on my preop liquid diet. They don't seem a bit concerned about the amt lost pre op. What was your starting weight?

My starting weight was 288. I started trying to lose weight when i booked my surgery back in November. As of this morning, I've lost 26 lbs including my 2 week pre-op diet.

  9. Completely off topic and couldn’t find a section for it but is anyone else experiencing really slow page loads? timed it a few times and its taking well over 1min to load a page sometimes it times out. this isn’t normal for me I have fibre optic fast broadband so 1min+ page loads is super slow just wondering if its just me (other sites loading like normal)

I've been having trouble with it all day but I'm thinking it's all the snow storms where I am and maybe it's affecting my internet?

  10. I think its perfectly normal! I was headed down to Mexico by myself and I was as cool as a cucumber! I was ready, on a mission and just looking forward to being a tiny girl. My goal was 130 lbs and to be in a size 2-4. I am mostly there!

That's how I feel right now. I'm headed to Mexico on Saturday, flying out to San Diego on Saturday by myself! I think I'm just prepared for this....although on the OR table I may freak out a bit ;)

  11. I had mine done there 8 days ago. Went perfect. I have a bit I heart burn now. But I'm working on it with some new meds. Good luck.

That's so good to hear! Glad everything went well I'm starting to get nervous now since I fly out a less than two days! My surgery is on Monday.. Did you have to lose a lot of weight before your surgery? So far in my two week pre-op I've only lost about 10 or 11 pounds, I was hoping for about 15 pounds. Did you travel alone or with someone?

  12. I had mine done there 8 days ago. Went perfect. I have a bit I heart burn now. But I'm working on it with some new meds. Good luck.

So glad to hear that! I'm getting nervous! I fly out on Saturday... what was your starting weight, if you don

t mind me asking. were you able to lose what you needed to pre-op? I'm only have lost 10lbs so far in a week and a half (started my 2 week pre op last monday.) down 25 lbs total. was hoping to be down 30lbs before surgery. :\

  13. Let me know how it goes I'll be going 3 wks after that. I'm so excited for you!!!!

ii fly out on saturday for the OCC. Im staying in the marriott a day earlier than i need to so i can get an idea of the area around me...plus it was $70 cheaper for me to fly on saturday instead of sunday, and id rather spend the extra $70 on a night at the marriott in TJ rather than freezing here in Philly :)

  14. Ok, my biggest anxiety about all of this is not about the surgery but about flying since I have never flown and I am scared of heights. Help a girl out here... What airline is the most comfortable? I will be traveling about 7 hours from the looks of things. Which seat is easiest for a plus size person to fit into? (I am a size 24 if that helps) I will be traveling with my husband who wouldn't mind me pressing up against him but what about arm rests? Seat belt extenders? Is there a way to know ahead of time that you need one? Any tips I need to know?

I've traveled on many different airlines. My favorite that I always use now is southwest. Super friendly staff every time! I'd say the seat size are about all the same for any airline, just my opinion

  15. Till my surgery on the 13th and it's getting harder honestly. My favorite place was taco bell and I see a commercial for them every 5 minutes it's ridiculous...As it gets closer to my surgery date, my urges are becoming stronger. Anyone have that feeling?

I totally get it. My surgery is 2/17/14 and I'm flying on Saturday to San Diego because my surgery in Mexico on Monday. Not only am I going crazy wondering if everything with the surgery will be okay but also all I can think about is all of the things I wish I would've eaten before I started my preop diet and what if I'm not able to eat those foods after surgery LOL I know it's such a stupid thing to think about right now. I just have to remember that I am doing this because I am going to be healthy and slim since I'm turning 3–0 this year! Good luck to you! Your date will soon be here!!!

  16. I am scheduled for 2/24 with Dr. Aceves in Mexicali. I started a week early on his 6 day pre-op diet to prepare myself for the lifestyle change. Bye Bye Diet Pepsi & the drive-thru.

Lol I started trying to do my pre-op diet over a month in advance bc I was worried it would be hard for me to adopt. Honestly it hasn't been too hard especially now as I'm nearing the end of my two week pre-op diet because I'm totally ready for this part of my life :-) i'm going to be 30! It's time to put myself and my health first. Best of luck to you! Can't wait to hear how everyone does after their surgeries.

  17. Do you use the coconut oil in the shower or after?

I like the jar of coconut oil sit in the shower with the lid on while I'm in the shower so the hot steam melts it so it's like oil. Then I apply to my skin after I get out of the shower and dry off. I have noticed a big difference in how soft and moisturized my skin feels.

  18. It's so funny- when I started this thread, I felt like there was nobody getting sleeved in Mexico in February LOL now I see how many people and it's incredible! The countdown is really on for me, I leave on Saturday to go to Mexico and my surgery is on Monday with Dr. Arielle Ortiz. I will be staying at the Marriott in Tijuana while I recover. You will be there at the same time, send me a private message and we can exchange email addresses. I won't be using my cell phone while there but I will be able to send emails or FaceTime.

  19. So close to my pre-op goal of 260. I'm 264 right now, I've lost about 10lbs since last Monday but now I've kinda stalled. I think I'm eating too few calories. In the beginning of last week I was eating about 1000 calories but I'm not that hungry anymore and only eat about 600. Gonna add the greens back in my diet for the next few days and see if that helps lose the last few. I fly out on Saturday for San Diego and surgery is on Monday. Can't believe it's finally here!
