No doctor visit prior to surgery?
Michellemo replied to ladyomnom's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That does sound strange. I had blood work done and an EKG. Some people have to do even more then that. -
How to measure when eating out?
Michellemo replied to loftyleo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've never measured my food. My stomach lets me know if I'm eating too much. -
When I was a size 22/24 skinny jeans just pissed me off and I couldn't understand anyone wearing them but now that I'm a size 10 I love them!

Difficult question to ask.
Michellemo replied to MinnesotaDreaming52's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm almost a year out and I can tell you my bowels are functioning better then ever. Before surger I had the diarrhea 3 to 7 times a day. Now I don't. It's great! -
To ignore or grin and bear my 90 year old grandmother
Michellemo replied to BKLYNgal87's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I would tell grandma that your looks, surgery and weight loss are off limits. If she can't stop abusing you with words then I would cut off ties with her. Just because someone is family does not give them the right to abuse you! -
why do people hide it?
Michellemo replied to KayCTheNewMe's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've kept my surgery a secret except for a few people. It's my business and my choice to tell. My medical history is no one business. I had a cousin who had a breast reduction because they were large, and one was much bigger and saggier then the other but she didn't make it public knowledge that she was having a surgery to fix them. Why should we have to tell the world about our medical conditions? -
2 year post-op bone density scan results
Michellemo replied to lsereno's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
I've been looking into calcium from milk and lots of stuff I've read says milk actually causes our body to lose calcium. Crazy I know since as children we are taught that drinking milk is good. The stuff I've studied says its better to get it from grains ,fruit and vegetables. -
I had a horrible headache for about 3 days after surgery. It came from my neck and up the back of my head. Thank god it finally left! Hang in there!

Any sole providers here?
Michellemo replied to Mrs.FullerRN's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm a single mom and I took one week off from my stand up job. It was enough time off. The main reason I had surgery was my fear of all the health problems I was sure to get from being so over weight. I kept thinking what was going to become of me in 10 years? I knew there was no way I could stand on my feet and continue to run my business. So I figured maybe having complications from surgery was a smaller risk then knowing I was definitely going to have complications from being so over weight. -
GETTING MY SLEEVE BANDED...
Michellemo replied to LULU TATT's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doctor said if the sleeve fails he would do a bypass not the band. If what you are eating is ok then why would a band be needed? -
Is anyone else cold?
Michellemo replied to Getting Wispy's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story

Controversial - The evaluation of before and after. Healthier by definition, but does everyone who is VSG'd really 'look' better?
Michellemo replied to Madam Reverie's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am 5'4. I have had No problem with eating to many calories in the 11 months since surgery. Now I need to Change my focus to maintaining my weight and that's hard. I know it's time to start eating a little bit more so I can stay the same instead of losing but I don't want to eat more! -

Michellemo replied to Madam Reverie's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I know a few people who have lost too much weight and look bad. In at 165 now and i Think I look perfect! I would rather have a little meat left so my face stays looking good. I've had one person tell me how BAD my face looked now because of my weight lose but she is full of crap because I get told all the time how great I look. I do have saggy skin but seriously how many 38 year old women really look great naked? -
Scared. Is ANYONE healthy after this surgery?
Michellemo replied to Kaj's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm about 11.5 months out and heck yes I'm healthier! Before surgery I had a constant headache, diarrhea multiple times a day, back killed me, plus other stuff! Anyway I don't have any of those problems now! I feel like a million bucks! -
Stories we tell...how do you not "lie" without saying you had WLS?
Michellemo replied to Slurpee_girl's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
When someone asks how I'm loosing so much weight I just tell them I stopped drinking soda, watch my carbs and I cut my portion size way down. It's the truth so I'm not lying plus I don't feel my medical history is anyone's business. -
Almost no restriction- depressed and stressed
Michellemo replied to Reigo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have a problem with your dr saying just cus you can eat 16 oz doesn't mean you should! Well that's why we had weight loss surgery in the first place because we don't have self control. My surgery has forced me to have self control! I think your dr has done something wrong! If you can eat 16 oz after 10 weeks then what will you be able to eat at 6 months? A lot -
Almost no restriction- depressed and stressed
Michellemo replied to Reigo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would be pissed! It sounds like your surgery was a waste of time! I'm so sorry. I would do some serious talking with that doctor -
Cheating during two weeks?
Michellemo replied to angiefall01's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Yes that's where I had surgery. I had a great experience! I'm having my one year check up there in about 3 weeks plus I'm meeting with dr hoehn about him doing my tummy tuck! So excited! -
Cheating during two weeks?
Michellemo replied to angiefall01's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I also cheated in my 2 week liquid diet. The nut told me I could eat tuna or an egg or chicken but just a little instead of just a shake. I did break down a few times and ate bad things but for 3 days before surgery I only drank shakes. I was afraid they would find actual food in there so I was really good for 3 days. I lost 15 pounds in those 2 weeks so I did fine. -
medicaid while married?!?!?!
Michellemo replied to jaxmommy2012's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
ok never mind we shouldn't move there! She is from Tennessee and I looked up how to qualify for Medicaid on the Tennessee gov web site. Its called tenncare Medicaid and there are lots of rules and guidelines you must meet before you can get on it. Pretty much you have to be poor, disabled stuff like that. But if 26 bucks an hour means your poor then more power to ya!
