Question for all the "Oh my god, what have I done?" people...
I am in a mindset to have it done - but - I do want both sides of the story. I want to talk to the people who had post-op complications. I also know that i'm probably going to regret it when I wake up in pain, have a problem sipping, not liking the liquids i'm allowed to have - and I know i'll miss and mourn food

~10 months out pictures- Finally comfortable in bikini!
You look great - not sure whether my skin will look like that - I think the fact that you're 23 has alot to do with that. You did it.

When can we drink soda
OK, I think NtvTxn - is a snob about everything - it's like talking to a reformed smoker, There are some people, that once they are able to control the vice that they lost control of, become holier than though. Have mercy because they don't know how obnoxious they are

Passport?
After reading the posts and realizing that when I lose the weight I might want to travel (since my a$$ will fit into 1 seat) My husband and I will get the passports - we can get them right at our small town Post Office

My mom is making me want to scream
I too had a what-iffer as a Mom - she drove me nuts alot - but obviously your mom taught you to think for yourself and make your own decisions. Thank her for that and tell her that you're doing what you feel is best for you. Right now I wish I could talk to my mom and have her drive me crazy with her what-ifs

Seriously, you can't fix stupid
I am not stupid - did I do stupid things - yes. Now I know better, and when you know better, you do better. I refuse to beat myself up for the past. I have never eaten because I was hungry - I ate emotionally, and still do. Or I eat because it's there. Believe me, if theres an Edward's frozen pie in the freezer it's mine. Yes, I am a before sleeve. I can understand never cheating, and I hope that I am so terrified of gaining this weight back that I won't cheat. I'm not taking this removal of 85% of my healthy stomach lightly. I am having this surgery in Mexico, and I hope my Dr. is as thorough with post op instruction as the OP's Dr. I wish I could have a Bariatric Bible. I am doing this on my own, but, I have a psychologist, a nutritionist, and support from my immediate family, and this web-site. It took me 10 years to come to this decision, and I will do this for myself - but I will try not to judge others, one thing I learned from al-anon is that you cannot control other people.

Surgery date changed from the 12th to tomorrow 06-05
This is good, now you have less time to worry and obsess!

Where did your companion stay?
I intend to have my husband stay at the hotel the night of surgery and the nights thereafter. If I have a bad 1st night - he'll just feel helpless, also before the surgery he's going to have to put up with me quitting smoking 6 wks before the surgery, don't want to give him a chance to smother me with a pillow

Don't you just love the inequality?
I pay $1200 a month for insurance that states right up front - we will not cover bariatric surgery - or any non-surgical weight loss -don't ask I wish I had insurance that would pay for this - I will pay for my own psych opinion with my psychologist - I have arranged for my PCP to handle any complications after I get home. I may not have to go thru 6 mos. of PCP supervised weight loss, I also don't get to have this surgery in a hospital where I live. Life is not fair - I really get it.

Passport?
My hospital rep told me that because a driver is taking us across the border - and we're not actually flying into Mexico, that our drivers license and original birth certificate is sufficient.

July 2013 sleevers
My surgery is July 30th in Mexico. lilyrose, I wanted to have it in Australia because it's the one place my husband and I would really love to see. Unfortunately, the travel alone would've been more than just having the surgery at home - which kind of defeats the purpose of having it done in Mexico. Anyway, I can't wait - well actually I wish I was the type of person who could do this on my own, but i'm not very good at handling failure.

Huge regret, what have I done? So sad.
I am pre-op, and I have only been on this site for a few weeks. This is not the first time I have seen regret posted. It seems to pop up in the early weeks of being sleeved. As posted above, you should call your dr. to make sure there is nothing wrong. If there's nothing wrong physically, I would talk to your NUT and try to modify your diet. From what i've read you can eat small portions of all foods - but probably not at 5-6 wks. Not being able to eat is a common problem and everyone is different. If modifying your diet isn't working, maybe some counselling. I find it's amazing that everyone has to have a psych eval to get this surgery, yet after surgery it's not required. This is a huge physical and lifestyle change

Does nail polish apply to toes also?
I use regular polish on my toes but, I get shellac manicures - I have it removed at the nail salon, I don't even know if it comes in clear.

Droopy under chin
At this point I don't have a chin - Even at my thinnest i've always had a weak chin. Whatever plastic surgery I end up with - a chin implant is definitely in my future
