    2 Week Pre-Op Diet

On day three, so far so good I decided not to work out at all, I don't think my intake is enough to exercise and not really feel exhausted the next day.
  2. Premier Protein - I paid $24 for a case of 18 at costco. Tastes better than others on the market too, best super cold!
  3. Odd question, can we have brussel sprouts pre-op? The handout says leafy greens, not sure if this is limited to lettuce and such. I start pre op on Sunday, the time sort of got away from me. I haven't had time to ask the nutritionist. Thanks!

December 16Th Sleeve Date, Who's With Me?

Me! I am! I'm scheduled at OCC with Dr. Ariel Ortiz for December 16. I start my pre-op on Sunday. I'm more nervous about the pre-op diet than I am the procedure itself! I've done a few things. I cut out caffeine months ago, soda was really no problem. I started taking a multi back in February. I've been doing Zumba 3X a week (ShakeItLatinStyle in Mill Creek WA) since the middle of October. I love it! I am hoping the exercise before surgery will help me with my recovery post surgery. I have no doubt Zumba will be my exercise of choice when I'm ready to start exercising again. I doubled my life insurance. I found a nutritionist here locally who has offered to arrange for IV fluids through a clinic if needed so I don't have to visit the emergency room. She has also offered to check my vitals periodically after I return from Mexico. Good to meet you Joan!

    White House Black Market

I'm in Seattle too, or rather Snohomish county, White House Black Market just opened an outlet store at Seattle Premier Outlets in Tulalip if that helps
  7. I came across Hoosier's blog before I found this message board. This was where I first learned of Mexico as an option (I had NO idea people did this!) and her blog convinced me to call OCC in the first place. Thanks Hoosier!
  8. I've been told the same thing - that the shape of the sleeve has to do with the skill of the surgeon. I was also told that a misshapen sleeve can hold more food later and could make maintenance more difficult.
  9. I'll be in your shoes in 11 days. I feel for ya!

    Surgery Around Holidays?

I am having my surgery Dec. 16 in Mexico. I am also pre-diabetic. My work slows down in December, allowing me a week off/half days for a week when I return and I get my bonus which is helping pay for my surgery. I'm striking while the iron's hot! I could care less about Christmas eating related festivities, I'm ready to do this!
  11. Mouse, glad you made it home and Karlily, so glad you are recovering! My nutritionist here locally told me that if I ever think I need IV fluids, to call her and she'll arrange it for me in a local clinic without having to visit an emergency room. Nice in case I need it!
  12. Mouse and Karlily, how are you doing?

    100 Roses

    That's awesome! You look fantastic!
  14. Would be fun to get some Seattle area peeps together for coffee sometime!
  15. Congrats Mouse!! Glad you're on the loser's bench! I remember you were worried about your pre-op diet loss, glad it all worked out! I'm going to worry about it too I"m sure.
  16. Actually I haven't measured myself yet, but I better add that to my list. Measurements and front/side/back before pics. I just finished my 10th Zumba class since late October, I bought 10 sessions on Amazon Local, I am so surprised at how much I enjoy the classes. The hip pain I've had intermittently since 2006 (daily most of this year) was completely gone after my sixth class. No more Advil! I'm ready to toss my gym membership and sign up with this dance studio for my regular form of exercise! It's a relief to find exercise I actually LIKE and not just "tolerate".
  17. I plan on using Premier Protein for pre-op and post-op and doubling up on my regular Women's One a Day vitamins for pre-op, then switching to chewable Bariatric vitamins, Vitamin D, B-12 etc. post-op. I just ordered the Unjury sample pack. My nutritionist here locally tells me that Unjury passes taste tests in her office hands down to any other product. I am most interested in their chicken broth and their unflavored for a change of pace from the sweet stuff! On a side note, I found out that I had not gained weight like I thought! My scale at home isn't working! It was showing a 7 lb weight gain after 3 weeks of Zumba and it just didn't make sense because I FELT smaller. When I weighed with my nutritionist yesterday it showed me down 2 lbs from my last visit back in August. Good news!
  18. I'm a month pre op. I can't even imagine what maintenance will look like but I'm already thinking about it. I work a desk job as well and middle aged - I figure regular exercise will have to be in my long term plan in order to maintain whether I like it or not!
  19. Best of luck to you Mouse!!
  20. Congrats on your surgery date! I too, am scheduled at OCC for December 16. My husband and I are leaving MX on 12/19, we may cross each other's paths at some point. I feel like I've made the best decision possible in choosing OCC. I feel no doubt about not having surgery in the US. Maybe I'll see you next month!

    Between 2 Doctors

Easier said than done because I know it matters, but don't let price influence you too much. Even if it means saving up a little longer. It's super important for you to be 100% confident with your surgeon selection. Good luck!
