Yes to the mini bypass actually. I don't necessarily believe that the surgeons are " blowing smoke " I feel some really believe it or base it on the information available at the time but we learn more everyday. I always said the same about the band too, I don't feel I was lied to or misled about the band in 2007, I feel that I was told what we knew at the time and obviously we know a whole lot more 8 years later just like we will with the sleeve 8 years from now.

There are plenty of places in the US that do a one night stay and even some that release patients same day as surgery. -

I never in any way said I could verify this because I failed at losing weight ! I said I could verify this because I had xray pics which I provided of not only my personal pouch but of others as well.
There is NO ignorance or misinformation here, there has been a discussion about the information provided by personal experiences and by the medical community.
And, since I am a glass half full kind of person, I assume people take this information and use it in a positive way to be more adamant about making changes, exercising and not taking risks with their sleeve instead of "giving people an excuse to fail." Which btw, since you don't know me or my situation have no right to make those statements about me. I lost over 100 lbs with the lapband and maintained it for 6 years, the sleeve has been a Detour for me yes, but "failure" I'm sorry, that word doesn't now nor will it ever describe me. Have I gained some weight ? Yes, but have I stopped trying or pursuing my goals ? Hell no !
I truly hope that no one out there experiences their sleeve stretching or losing their tool, it's not an experience I would wish on anyone but I will hold with my original opinion, the sleeve can stretch ! We've seen it with every weight loss surgery out there and IMHO to go around believing you are "safe" from that happening is a disservice to anyone who has had surgery because the simple fact is we don't know for absolute certainty that it won't.

This thread has gone on for 8 pages without "getting real bad real fast". If you read the entire thing, you will see that some people are able to discuss/debate/disagree without throwing out personal insults. You are actually the first to do so.

I am sorry you are having these challenges.
Yes the sleeve is a tool but the control center for that tool is the brain which is why at least for me, all the counseling I go through and mindfulness I practice helps my brain keep my sleeve in line (not that you didn't do everything right.)
It does stink that there's an issue of the fundus dilating as there's no 100% guarantees on this thing. I had an acquaintance who had bypass and she is back at ground zero again.
At the risk of sounding optimistic (I am so not an optimistic personality, lol) I'll say focus on your triumphs and keep it moving.
Best of health to you and everyone!

You absolutely insulted someone IMO.
As for my "famous run ins"? First, there is nothing "famous" about me. I'm a boring old mom. Second, as you can see from this thread, I (along with many others) am able to disagree without making personal insults and innuendos.
Yes, your style and mine are COMPLETELY different and I can't help but shake my head at your need to come into a good AMICABLE debate/discussion and throw gas and a match on a fire that doesn't exist. That floors me.
It's my OPINION that one should debate the argument, NOT the opinion holder.

Band07 reacted to VSGAnn2014 in Fear of STRETCHING Sleeve!
@@Babbs ...
Thanks for that video about post-VSG stomach stretching / not stretching. Very clear. Very simple.
It makes great sense to me regarding VSGs that were done *standardly* (the new stomachs were shaped using small-enough bougies, e.g., 34-36F) on *normal* shaped / sized stomachs (that aren't misshapen or injured or unusually long or short).
Our eating and drinking choices and behaviors are critical to our future (short- and long-term) success. However, it all begins with and depends on the skills of our surgeon to give us sleeves that will be a good tool going forward.
Can some VSG patients suffer from outlier / very unusual circumstances? Surely. But I assume that the vast majority of us just need to do what we need to do post-op: Make good eating and exercise choices / behaviors long-term.
@@Band07 ... I hope you get your own situation resolved and fixed to your satisfaction with a good result. Best wishes.

Yes, I agree completely, however if It was just that easy, why would anyone have had surgery to begin with ? We obviously needed a tool and I can only speak for myself but when mine stretched out I had NO tool to help me at all.

I guess I just have "what if's" going through my mind. What if there are complications? That's my main concern. Coming back with complications and how I will received here in the states after having a procedure in Mexico. But I also firmly believe that the benefits outweigh the risks here.. I've been heavy my whole life and I'm ready for a change! Good luck to you and I can't wait to review your post!

Band07 got a reaction from Babbs in Fear of STRETCHING Sleeve!
It's true my sleeve was made larger because of scar tissue from the band. I said I would be happy at 150 heck today I would be happy at 160 ! 150 is still overweight though on the BMI scale for my 5' 3 1/2 height. This morning I was 188. At this point I easily have an extra 50 lbs to lose. My highest weight ever was 260, I was around 230 pre band surgery and I got down to 139, I maintained between there and 145 for years.

Band07 got a reaction from Kimberly Bouche-Perez in FAILED GASTRIC SLEEVE SURGERY
I have a large sleeve, it literally does nothing to help me. My doc used a 42 bougie and went loose due to the scar tissue from my band and it easily stretched out quite a bit. I've got my x-rays to prove it looks nothing like any other "sleeves" I've ever seen. I've done a ton of research on this and I'm pretty sure that narrowing through the middle which can create an hour glass shape is sometimes a post op "complication" of the sleeve, i say complications however obviously it's not causing any issues, it's just not the desired outcome. I'm currently looking into options to revise. Best of luck to you !

Never did I say I REFUSE to believe it's possible. It's my OPINION that if the procedure is done correctly, a sleeve will not stretch significantly. My opinion is based on my experiences and those of the sleevers I know, most of whom are 3-5 years out. This is also what I was advised by multiple surgeons. It's my OPINION that your opinion has been vastly influenced by your own experience (understandable). Your thread here - http://www.bariatricpal.com/topic/334573-sleeve-to-mgb-low-bmi/ - opened my eyes to your situation. I do hope you find the success you are seeking.

Feeder days....what a great name! That's what that is called??? Lol! I thought it was just me but now I see it isn't so unusual! I go through that also....some days I can feed more, some days a qtr cup of anything is too much.
I do know if I ate all simple carbs day in and day out, one spoonful at a time Id gain my weight back in no time.
This is why the sleeve is a tool to use. We must not relinquish control back to that monster in our brain that got us so heavy in the first place.
@Band07: Good luck to you! Hope all works out! Best Health!

You can surely see the difference in the two though, right ? I'm not sure at all what swelling has to do with the X-rays though ? I would bet money if I had an xray today it would be even bigger as I know I can eat more now than I could in October when it was taken. I'm revising next week and I'll definitely ask my doc more about what he finds when he gets in there and keep you guys posted
