  1. Dr. Rodriguez is wonderful and operates in a full service hospital which you stay at the whole time.
  2. Some places won't release you that fast, especially when you are flying home so it will be more an issue with the docs requirements, also, I've had band, sleeve and now MGB, I will say it was the worst of the 3.
  3. I had revision from sleeve also, surgery was Thursday night, I flew home Saturday and went back to work Tuesday. My energy was very low but I managed. I ended up with double pneumonia (prob from the flight home) but had it not been for that which kept me feeling crappie for about 4-5 weeks I would have been fine.
  4. I heard too Dr. Rutledge will be opening a new clinic in California.. he has a video on his fb page discussing it.
  5. So this isn't normal for you ? That's been my whole life for almost 2 years, everything I eat just goes right through me.

    Eat whatever you want?

I eat whatever I want. I also run A LOT.. I just did a 15k and I'm doing a half marathon in March, it's a trade off for me, but I refuse to deprive myself or "diet" . I do try to make good choices but if I want something sweet I have it, if I go out on the weekend I order whatever I want. It works for me and has for almost 9 years.

    Newbie with questions :)

That's who did mine ! Dr. Rod was great ! I had a wonderful experience at the hospital, no it's not like the US but it was extremely clean and they took good care of me. They don't fuss over you constantly but all my needs were met. They don't give strong pain meds but i didn't want or need them. I'm a revision so former band and sleeve patient so doc went longer on mine which is recommended for revisions.

    Newbie with questions :)

There definitely are. Milk is pretty much out of the question except for the occasional sip, ice cream is the same and anything else high in fat and sugar. Not to say I don't treat myself, I do but I know I'll pay the price. There really isn't anything that I've cut out completely, I just practice moderation. If I had to pick the biggest down side to all of it, that's easy...it's the bathroom trips. Without being too graphic, it's a constant and it's terrible! Everything I eat goes right through me.. In the first few months I was scared to even leave the house ! Now I'm a little more routine and I can usually make it through my workday without issues but if I do have to go, I will drive all the way home or to my parents house and will NOT ever go at work. It's absolutely horrid ! I carry poo pouri for emergencies or when I'm too far away from home. Not everyone experiences this, but my bypass is almost 9' so that makes it worse... I'm okay with it though, it's what keeps the weight off, it's what I paid for, the malabsorption. Who is doing your surgery?

    Newbie with questions :)

The MGB is a great choice ! It has better long term weight loss and less risk/complication than any other surgery! I'm happy to answer any questions you have. I'm a former band and former sleeve patient so I've been around the block a time or two ! Lol

    Newbie with questions :)

The stomach cancer issue/reflux has been resolved as long as the procedure is done correctly they can now position the bypass so that bile flows down and not up.
  11. Who is your surgeon ? If they do things right you should never have to worry about bile reflux. I was a band too, mgb 14 months ago, only thing I'm low on is iron. Very happy with my decision.
  12. I would say I averaged close to that the first few months but now it's much more routine. I go 2x first thing in the morning and then I'm good for 8-10 hours but the first few months I was scared to leave my house !
  13. Can you increase your calories any ? Maybe try that before another surgery.
  14. My BMI was 32.44 when I had mine, I'm 14 months out and no problems, weight loss has slowed down immensely. My bypass is just over 9'.
  15. I've done so much obsessive research, I'm literally making myself crazy over this! I originally wanted to be resleeved and thought that Dr. Wilhmey was the perfect surgeon for the job, then through my research I decided a revison to MGB would be best and Dr. Rodriguez would be the man for the job (Dr. Wilhmey doesn't do revisions to MGB) then last night I find a post where someone went to him in February and had a bowel punctured (I know things happen) but still in all honestly I'm amazed by the following and support of both Dr. Ramos Kelly and Dr. Illan on FB which makes me think if SOOO many had such great expereinces with them, maybe one of them would be the better choice....I would love to have this done in April and that's getting close, I'm seriously starting to lose sleep over this, it's such a hard decision and I want to make sure I make the best one, especially with this being my 3rd and final attempt to get it right!!

    MGB Information

I revised from sleeve to MGB last April with Dr. Rodriguez. Very happy with my decision and willing to answer questions if you have any.
  17. I researched obsessively for 6 plus months, I read everything I could get my hands on, I watched videos, read medical research, talked with surgeons and many many people who have had various procedures as well. MGB was the best choice for me without a doubt.
  18. I had a revision to mgb April 23 last year. Everything is great, I'm about 7lbs from my goal and very happy with my decision !
  19. Right and good chance you will have less horrible bathroom issues and chances of dumping as well
  20. Ahh it's a relief to hear about people who are doing really well. Sugar sometimes cause me to dump and others it's fine. Haven't tried high fat food yet but dairy and cheese I can tolerate well it was Protein shakes that caused the worst dumping. I'm sorry do you mean your bypass was 9 feet?? That's around 2.7 meters.. Isn't that a lot!!!! I only had 1.8 meters that's around 5 feet.. I'm glad your not having problems with your labs because malnutrition was really what was scaring me out of all this.. That's reassuring, I hate taking anything chewable and chalky and I definitely hate having to take my vitamins several times per day.. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App Yes my bypass is close to 9', with revision from sleeve it is usually recommended (by dr. Rutledge) to go longer on the bypass and leave sleeve pouch alone.
  21. I LOVED my band, still miss it a lot of times as far as never feeling hungry and literally being unable to eat. I unfortunately got to the point where I was worried about the long term effects and the constant heart burn was frustrating. I've had three procedures and will never be sorry I had the band or what it did for me..it was I guess you could say a love/hate relationship lol
  22. I'm an original band patient (2007) then revised to sleeve (2013) and MGB April 2014 so I'm 1 year 1 month post op. I'm very happy with my MGB, I haven't had any issues with malaborption so far and I'm honestly not great with my Vitamins. I take a couple one a days and b12 when I remember it. My bypass is around 9' and I was only 189 the day of surgery. Dairy and high sugar give me TERRIBLE gas and high fats make my dump but really everything I eat goes through me pretty quickly. I'm happy to answer any questions.
  23. Sure thing.. Banded in 2007, lost 100lbs kept it off for the most part. Got sick of living feeling stuck and never eating and worried about long term damage so I revised to sleeve and immediately gained 30 lbs! The sleeve was much "looser" than my band and I found myself able to eat anything after years of restriction. Revised to mgb last April and I'm happy to be back on track. About 8 lbs from goal.
