    Converting from Sleeve to Bypass?

Okay same date as me then, except I was sleeved Sept 2013. I'm aloud cream soups but I'm supposed to go easy on milk (can cause dumping) and high acid foods. I will try to blend some chicken noodle later. I have been wanting peanut butter and also cottage cheese but too afraid To try yet.
  2. I think the pre op is a good thing ! Especially protein loading for surgery. I did cut back some and lost 4 lbs in 4 days. For headaches I took mostly the pain meds they gave me for surgery, not sure what they were, they melt under your tongue and when it got really bad I took tramadol. You should be good for tylenol until you get closer to date.
  3. I didn't really do a pre op diet since I was low BMI but after surgery I had terrible headaches for 9 days in a row ! It was the worst thing about surgery for me! I'm guessing a combination of detoxing from the junk I was eating, plus stress and anesthesia and a little dehydrated too.

I know what you mean about feeling numb though ! I'm afraid of taking in too much because I can't feel anything yet either !

    Converting from Sleeve to Bypass?

I'm glad the pain is better ! How far out are you ? I'm still very very weak, I'm still trying to survive on liquids and yogurt. I think I'm dehydrated, I just don't even like the thought of having to try to consume anything right now I did mix a little bit of a baked potato in my food processor last night with a ton of chicken stalk to make it runny and then lots of salt. It was delicious and went down okay. I'm SO sick of sweet things right now

I feel exactly the same ! I wanted the sleeve to be enough for me too how are you doing now ?

    Only Me !

If I count pre op I'm down a total of 10lbs in 12 days, that sounds much better !!
  8. I know the first few weeks are about healing and not weight loss but living on broth and jello and G2 for a whole week it would have been nice to at least lose enough to make it worth it !! I had surgery on Thursday 4/23 and as of today Iv lost 4 lbs !! I know it will come, it HAS too but it doesn't make it any less frustrating !!
  9. Hi there, glad to see everything going in the right direction. I am in total awe of you being back at work already. Will be following your progress. Not long now toll my own MGB hope it goes as smoothly as yours. Take car.e x I'm sure you will do great ! Just follow the plan exactly
  10. I'm one week and one day post op. Everything went great !! Dr. Rod and his team were amazing ! I am however glad it's over and I'm home and doing good. I still get very tired in the afternoons and I get a lot of headaches but Iv been on nothing but clear liquids for the first week. I'm finally now adding some yogurt and will start protein shakes tomorrow. I'm actually terrified to eat but I'm trying to work though. Surgery wise I felt fine after some very uncomfortable gas and discomfort around the drain area. I went back to work on Tuesday and other than fatigue I was okay. My incisions are healing nicely and I have no pain in that area and it may sound crazy but I feel like my insides are healing well too ! So far so good, I have no complaints.

    Scared

It's hard to explain, it's easier to just look up comparison images between the two. Basically it has a longer bypass and only one anastomoses. The operating time and recovery time and risk of complications are all less but weight loss is just as good if not better long term. It got a bad name for awhile because of risk for bile reflux but that's since been rectified through a new adaption to the procedure and it's making a comeback. Its been around over 15 years.
  12. I'm one week and one day post op and Iv only lost 4 lbs, it could be worse !
  13. Yes things are stapled up but that's a different part of the anatomy ! Lol just go slow and find a comfortable position, no swinging from the chandeliers

    Scared

I had a mini gastric bypass one week ago and my day of surgery weight was 185.

    So disappointed :'(

Dr. Rodriguez in Mexico is amazing and he does in house financing! Maybe just for a plan B.

    SF Jello

I'm not aloud pudding until week 2 with protein shakes and cream soups. I in no way consider it a clear liquid.
  17. My paperwork literally said : when ever you feel up for it. For me it was last night and I had surgery last Thursday 4/23.

    Converting from Sleeve to Bypass?

In my opinion, you try everything possible on your own first. You get brutally honest with yourself. Are you really trying ? Are there places in your diet you could cut back ? Are you eating all your protein ? Drinking your water ? Exercising at least some ? If the answer is yes 100% yes you are giving it your all and still can't lose or worse gain then and only then consider surgery.
  19. Yes the hospital is very large and very clean. Some of their equipment is a little older than what you may see in the US (xray film) but still does the job quite well ! I didn't have any concerns.
  20. Today was a hard day for me. Recovery wise I feel great ! I'm just still very weak and working a few hours really takes it out of me. On top of that I still have headaches. Everything will be fine !! You are ready for this, and you're going to do great ! Keep us posted as you're able ! I'll be thinking of you and wishing you all the best !

    What would you do ?

Thanks so much ! I'm feeling pretty good today, still having headaches. You're right no vaca time, I'm a contract worker but my boss is good about letting me leave when my work is done. Yesterday I worked 9-2:30 then went home and slept 2 hours to recover lol I'm keeping my fingers crossed this is what was best for me .. Time will tell.

    What would you do ?

So here is the short version of my story. Banded 2007 did great lost weight kept it off, decided to revise to sleeve in 2013 because of how "great" everyone said it was and also honestly I was tired of feeling stuck for 6 years and just wanted to feel full for once. Since my revision Iv gained 10lbs, Iv felt hungrier (physically) than I ever did with the band (my stomach actually growls now !) and I can eat very large portions. Iv checked my X-rays and I know my sleeve is much larger than it should be and that my doc used a 42 Bougie and went very liberal at that. Iv obsessively researched options for revising the sleeve and Iv found a surgeon who is very experienced with this and who I feel good about. The question is, Iv had 2 prior surgeries with zero complications, is it crazy to risk it a third time ?? What would you do ?
  23. I had the band and loved it...well.. I loved that I lost weight ! lol I converted to sleeve because everyone said how great/wonderful/amazing it was BUT that was not the case for me! My "sleeve" was made large due to scar tissue and removing the band opened the flood gates so to speak. I could eat anything and everything and larger portions so I gained 40 lbs. Also, my body was already used to a restriction only procedure so it was less likely to work for me the second time not that I knew that then. Thursday I revised AGAIN to a mini bypass. I'm doing pretty good, but it's been emotionally very hard for me this time unlike the last two. I've had a little bit of freaking out wtf did I just do to my body kind of thoughts I'm trying to deal with. I have a crazy fear of dumping and getting sick !! Recovery is good though and I'm even back to work today but I do have almost constant headaches I can't kick yet..surgery wise though I feel fine. Best of luck to you!
  24. Thanks! I'm feeling pretty good, weak still and headaches I can't kick but I'm back at work today. You will be fine!! It's a lot of worrying before you get there though, I totally get that but you will feel fine once you are there. Best of luck and keep us posted!
