  1. That's not what Iv heard with the MGB, most Iv talked too have to avoid or severely limit most dairy with the exception of yogurt and especially high sugar foods to avoid terrible gas, bloating and dumping all of which scare me to death lol I had some dumping symptoms (nausea, sweating, cramping) the first six months with my sleeve whenever I ate anything too fatty or greasy so I think that is a likely sign I could have it with MGB as well. I'm okay with it, anything that keeps me making good food choices is an added bonus ! Lol
  2. I went today and bought some Premier protein to try and I also found a high protein organic nutritional shake that I bought singles of at Kroger in vanilla, strawberry and chocolate. It only has 10 grams but it has lots of other vitamins and nutrients in it. I'm desperate to find at least one that tastes good as I usually hate them all I also plan to order some nectrin syntax protein soon. I'm struggling right now with my farewell to food tour ! I know it's terrible but there is a good chance I'll never be able to eat some things ever again and I have this overwhelming desire to have them one more time ! Lol I haven't gained any weight luckily but I still work out a lot. I was only asked to do one week of pre op diet but I want to start increasing my protein and water now to help with healing. I already take B12 and biotin and a multi vitamin daily.

    June Date

Wow Iv never heard of that before ! There is a closed group on FB called MGB and Iv found everyone there to be very supportive and willing to help. A lot of them are 6/7/8/10 yrs post op! Maybe try there as well .. Good luck !
  4. I'm scheduled for 4/23, anyone else around the same time ? I'm traveling alone and it would be great to talk with someone who will be there too !
  5. I really think you will feel great and will be anxious to get back home and start your new life ! I bet you won't need the extra days at all and will prob be itching to go after 3 days
  6. Also, just FYI, when I consulted with Dr. Ortiz he wanted to plicate my existing sleeve and not actually revise the sleeve so be aware of what each surgeons idea of "revision" is.
  7. Thank you so much for all the encouraging words !! After sleeping on it I'm again feeling confident in my decisions! Though I'm also a little mad I have to admit, not that they love and care for me but that also part of their argument was that "not everyone was meant to be skinny" and "god made me this way "and the more I think about that the more mad i get ! I AM meant to be skinny and more importantly healthy and confident with myself !! And I'm pretty sure, poor genetics, slow metabolism, horrible food choices and an addiction to sugar made me this way ! Lol
  8. Yes ! Actually I was just logging on to see if anyone has heard of this. That is what Iv been told he does.
  9. I had just come from my Crossfit class and I was sitting there still sweaty form the workout I had done, I reminded them how hard I was trying and still gaining weight! I even brought out my original before pics and they all said they never even remembered me being that big ! I understand they love me and they are worried and it makes me sad but it also scares me because I don't want them to be right. I have researched SO much, I think it's just overwhelming for them and for me as well, I mean surgery is scary but on top of that there is worry about flying across the country, going to another country, and to a city once known as the most dangerous city in the world !! I admit, it's a lot of variables !! but, I can't do it without the surgery and I want so badly to feel better again.

    That's good to know ! Thanks !
  11. As if I wasn't worried enough, my family had a small intervention tonight to beg me not to go
  12. I'm revising from sleeve to MGB with Dr. Rodriguez on 4/23, I never even considered a malabsorption procedure until Dr. Rod recommended it but I now after obsessive research, I feel 100% confident in my decision.
  13. Thanks so much ! Best of luck to you with your procedure as well, I will definitely be asking more about what he does and how it prevents the bile. I hope it all works out for you, please keep us posted.

How long did it take to go get from the hoarder to the hospital ? Did you have to drive through the rough parts of town ?
  15. Wow, thank you so much for sharing your story. I'm sorry to hear you are struggling now. From what my surgeon said, he now does something (I'm not sure what exactly) during the procedure, to prevent bile reflux as I was very concerned about that as well. Also, there is a group on FB called MGB, It's a closed group you should definitely check out if you haven't already, there is a lot of others on there who had the procedure many years ago. Best of luck with your situation and please keep us updated.

That's great !! I feel very good about Dr. Rod and the hospital but have started to freak myself out a little with Juarez, I made the mistake of googling it lol

How was your experience in Juarez ? I would love to hear more about it, I'm scheduled for 4/23
  18. Sure ! With the band, I did very well, it changed my life. I kept it very tight however and I had a lot of reflux and back and shoulder pain and honestly after 6 years I was sick of feeling stuck all the time, sometimes I would be up all night uncomfortable because of something I ate hours before. I also had a couple of dilated pouches so I knew it was already not what it had been in the beginning. When the sleeve came out everyone said how amazing it was and how you never felt "stuck" just full. I had also read a few things about the band embedding into the liver over time and I just got worried that only being 35 at the time, what would another 10/20/30 years be like with the band, that was scary to me so i had it removed. From that day on I have been hungry all the time and my portions have always been larger than any other sleever I know. Iv had X-rays and my "sleeve" is very large and distorted and no matter how much I try (eating right, crossfit 3x a week !) I'm still slowly and steadily gaining.
  19. According to the coordinator he does the procedure but prefers the mini version of the DS.
  20. Dr. Rodriguez in Mexico is doing mine but I also know that Dr. Ramos Kelly does it as well.
  21. Wow 15 years! I'm having a revision from sleeve to MGB on 4/23. How have you done ? Any regrets ?
  22. I'm scheduled 4/23, anyone else going to Mexico? I'll be with Dr. Rodriguez.
  23. Sorry to hear you are going through that Sounds like you've done great with your surgery though !
  24. I agree its important to feel comfortable, if he was still working out of Tijuana I would prob go there but unfortunately he isn't any longer scheduling at both.
