  1. I just got my surgery date today for 11/12/15 6am! Super excited. Looking for a someone in St Louis or near St Louis Mo to buddy up for support. Anyone with a Surgery date on or near 11/12 message me.

This is bittersweet for me, my mother was supposed to be with me on the day of my surgery, but she is no longer with us so it's going to be my brother and bf with on the day of surgery. It's hard knowing she's not going to be there physically with me, but I know she will in spirit. That's all that matters for me.

  2. @@Zugehily - I agree with dede0314 if any insurance company requires a 6-moth diet it's a physician supervised diet for 6-monyhs straight, no lapse or you have to start over. Call your insurance to make sure that you are required to do that though. Document, document, document every call on who, when, time, & record # of each call from your insurance co. This is to make sure your info matches hou surgeon's info.

  3. I have BCBS and I would have been approved in 3 days from the insurance company receiving my info, but they said they needed more documentation. Overall I was approved within 13 days. I had to see a pulmonary dr & have a scope done. The scope is scheduled for 10/13. Once that's complete I pick my surgery date. ????

I know it's confusing & frustrating, but it will happen for you once the insurance gets your info.

  4. @@auttinicole - if it gets sent today call on tomorrow to see if it was received. Once the insurance company says they have it, then call on Monday for status.

Get names, dates, document what is told to you, the time of the Call, and the record #of the documentation for each time you talk to the insurance company. If you didn't get that the last time get from the when you call tomorrow. It will help you with the process. I kept mine in a notebook just in case.

There could be some confusion, which the surgeon's office can clarify for you.

The insurance company may not do a pre-auth but they could need a pre-certification or pre-approval before you have the date set for the surgery.

  5. I knew people around me that had the surgery, I picked their brain for every piece of info. I went online to find a facility who does weight loss surgery & then called my insurance to get info on it bejng covered.

It's a 50/50 chance your insurance will cover it. Check your enrollment guide & then call them. The member services line is always there to help. Then once they say it's covered get tge the name, date, time & reference # from the representative you spoke with. Keep records of that info. Oh! If you go into a new year & have that open enrollment which usually is every Oct or Nov, please make sure that it's still covered & document.

Then call the facility get the info on any procedure the do for weight loss. If anything you can go on their website & will have demonstrations.

You will have a seminar required to go to which is the best source of info for you. They give everyone time to ask the surgeon that day all the questions you can think of.

I went to 5 seminars before I found the surgeon perfect for me. Mine is awesome. He listens, is helpful, wants me to succeed in the weight loss.

Oh, family not with you on this journey...Their loss, message anytime. I love helping people. Besides that you need a network of people through this process.

Good luck, hope to continue seeing you on here. I'm Melissa also. ????
