What are you doing week 1 post op?
NancyG replied to artymama's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
One week today. I have felt great especially since I got my drain out this afternoon. I am having an opposite issue, I am having trouble sleeping. I have been taking a dose of pain med at night to try and help me sleep (not taking it for pain). I think someone changed my settings on my CPAP at the hospital and think that may be some of my trouble. I slept to 4:30 am and that was the latest I have slept. Driving me crazy because I know on Monday when I have to get up to go to work I won't be that awake! -
Do most people have drains?

Bless your heart if you had to have the drain for two weeks. I know that had to be aggravating. -

Got mine out today. You were exactly right about the feeling, I feel set free! The lanyard was a great idea. I finally figured out to take one of my rubber band type head band and put it around my neck and pinned it while I was in the shower. I just safety pinned it to my underwear the rest of the time. Came home and put on some comfy/stretchy shorts that came in (Zulily) since my surgery. Feeling spunky!!! -

I haven't had much luck with the unflavored. It has "the smell". Tried it in orange Jello. Could get it down but wasn't crazy about it. Love the chicken soup flavor though. -

My experience so far is if I can smell the protein I am going to have trouble getting it down or if I can choke it down it will make me feel yucky for a while afterwards. I actually like the things I listed and hope that they might help someone else. I wish there were more savory choices. I am about tired of sweet taste. Part of my issue too is that I live in a rural area so I have either ordered my protein powders off the Internet or gotten it from the doctor's office. I also put a few drops of imitation banana flavoring in the banana cream shake before I got the SF pudding and that was not good to me. I could drink it but it was not an enhancement! Good luck! -

I have some hanging at the entrance of my closet so I see them when I open the door. Had a friend that came Monday night she brought food for my family and a size 16 inspiration little black dress for me. She had WLS 10 years ago so she knew the absolutely PERFECT gift. I thought it was awesome! -

anyone losing self confidence with weight loss?
NancyG replied to ********'s topic in The Gals' Room
Weight loss gets rid of the fat but doesn't change your body type. I will ALWAYS be short waisted and big-butted/extremely hippy. I lose weight from the top of my head down to the top of my thighs. (Luckily I have very pretty calves) You can focus on the negatives but to what end? I am celebrating my face not being such a marshmallow, I am excited that shirts are fitting better and know that it will be a long time before the butt/hips give me any satisfaction at all. Try to find things about yourself that you like. For me it is my calves and my nose, which may be weird but everybody has to find their thing to get them through. -

I have one, I am supposed to have it taken out Friday which will be one week for me. I can't WAIT to get it out. Worst part is when taking a shower there isn't anything to pin it to and it just hangs which feels weird. Thinking about getting something to hang around my neck to pin it to during shower time. Maybe I will make it cute and put it on Pinterst! -
I had mine on the 21st. Was dismissed by the doctor early in the morning but didn't get out of there until 3:00pm. It was Saturday and the hospital had just switched to a new computer system that week so I feel like that was why. I had great care and I am feeling great. How are you getting along? Any troubles?

Surgery day was my worst day. Once the anesthesia started wearing off I started feeling great. Glad to know the hiccough thing is normal. I think it is everything moving around. Sneezed night before last and that was a treat! Will do my best to make sure that doesn't happen again for a while. Did anyone else come home with the jb drain? I get it taken out Friday and can't wait! I started to say it was a pain but thought that could be taken wrong so I will be more specific and say it is aggravating. Glad that is all I have to complain about! -

I was sleeved the 21st. So far so good. The gas pains were rough but since I had been reading about them on here knew it was temporary and didn't let it get to me. Finally started pooting last night. I wanted to cheer! Got home yesterday still have drain (yuck!!!!) can't wait to get it out. For those that are waiting I can't tell you how much better it has been than I ever thought it could be. Keep a positive attitude, that will help a lot. -

Praying for all of you going into surgery today. So excited for all of us. I am starting to feel empowered and like I am getting control back. Trying to appreciate these last two days before my new life starts. The only thing I am anxious about is having to drink the magnesium citrate tomorrow night. Otherwise I feel like a kid and want to start packing my overnight bag. Grateful to God for His many and wonderful blessings! -
