devine.adon got a reaction from m. brack in Any Dr. Guillermo Alvarez patients here?
I am headed to Eagle Pass, TX in July and then on to see Dr. Alvarez in Mexico for my sleeve surgery!! I have researched several Dr's for over a year before making my decision to go with Dr. Alvarez, however he was my first choice!! Would love to hear from anyone that has been to the same Dr. I am looking to loose over 150 lbs! I'm 5' 8" tall and 340 lbs! I'm so ready to begin my wonderful new journey.

Dr. Alvarez and his staff are amazing. I was sleeved on 5/31 and was overwhelmed by the support and care I received (and am still receiving post-op). I had absolutely no pain or sickness - they were always on top on meds to make sure I was comfy. No issues with traveling to/from Mexico, it was a breeze. Hospital room was recently updated and was a good size for me and hubby. The hospital is being renovated on some floors, but wasn't an issue noise-wise or otherwise.
Wouldnt trade my experience, even if money was no object,
I am hopefully going to type up my story this weekend. Feel free to msg me with questions.

Yes, I think I understand what you're saying. I also have a lot to lose, and many of us who have more weight to lose to begin with see more dramatic weight loss in the beginning. However, I think you touched on something very important: the surgery will not magically fix everything and it does require a lifetime commitment on our part. It's not a diet, it's agreeing to embrace a different lifestyle. We didn't get like this overnight and we're not going to lose it overnight, which actually is a good thing, since sustainable changes over time is what leads to success long term. We all need something to keep us motivated, and the weight loss will definitely be a big motivator, but just remember that there will be times when you are frustrated. You can't throw in the towel, but you can come here where we will be waiting to support you, and you can support us, too Be comfortable with and committed to your decision, and you will accomplish great things!

It doesn't really matter if you tell or not, if you go from 250-300 lbs to 150 lbs in 6- 12 months people will know! I live in a horrible gossip village small town so I know I will eventually have to tell bc I don't want to lie about it... There are several people in this town that have had the band and RNY and they actually lie about it, it's their thing I know but when the lady that teaches Sunday school class that has lost over 200+ lbs in just a little over a year stands there and tells you oh I've just worked so hard at this diet and get lots of exercise.. I don't agree with that!!! Don't lie... If you don't want to tell that's one thing but if someone asks you, did you have surgery then please don't lie about it!

OMG - I am certain most, if not ALL of us can identify with this. I still hold up my jeans after coming out of the dryer and think "NO WAY, they've shrunk" I'm serious!!! When I was just post op, Victoria's secret had their special, 6 for $25, something like that and I stepped OUT of my comfort zone and onto a limb. I got 6 pair of MEDIUMS!!!! I kept them in the bag, wrapped in the tissue paper and would look at them every so often. I was wearing an XL, the high cut ones, and they fit, they were NOT loose at all. These I got were bikini.....I really did think I was being overly optimistic, but my youngest daughter wore a M and if I never could, she could. I wore the others till they were falling off. I threw them away and went straight from the XL to the M - talk about a NSV!!!!!!! This is not a diet and you HOPE you'll do it, girl, you WILL do it and you WILL be in the size you got...and I'd bet money you will end up in a smaller size than that. Have fun!

This made me very happy I am 5 ft 8 in tall but I wear around a size 24w as you did in the beginning, I will be 36 years old (November) so it makes me feel good knowing someone semi close to my size and age has had such a great outcome!! I have said all along I've gotta start saving now for when it is time for the body tucks lol but I'm glad to know you were not just tons of skin hanging to your knees lol sorry its a fear even though I don't believe there's actually that much there thank you so much for sharing!!!
I get my wonderful life changing sleeve in mid July!!! I'm so excited to start this journey!

I did Medifast and lost 100 pounds. After I went into transition, I gained it all back in less than a year. If you can make the mental changes needed to sustain long-term, Medifast is great. I found out that I needed help, and the sleeve is the method I'm using to control my eating long term.

I started this journey at 338 I am now 197. 100+lb weight loss Can be done, but it takes effort and commitment! I agree with the other poster that suggested that you get a nutritionist since you are having the surgery in Mexico. The sleeve will work if you to choose the right foods and exercise.
    Good luck!
