My surgery is scheduled for July 24th at 7am sharp. I live in Houston, but will be having the surgery in TJ Mexico with Dr. Ortiz. Nervous is an understatement.

Long story short, I'm a divorced single mom of one and I come from a large, close knit family. However, they have almost disowned me over this. The backlash has been awful. We are all barely speaking to each other. I'm all alone and I have zero support. I almost regret telling them. But in a way, I wouldn't have felt right keeping it a secret either. But now I just have to suffer in silence or be happy in silence. This forum is all I have to help me through this. Which I am grateful for.

I just got back from TJ on Monday, and I can honestly say that I would not have minded at all if my surgeon showed up at my hotel room to "check my stitches" or anything else. My husband might have objected, though...

So I can get my sleeve AND have sex with a young, hot doctor?! Lol

I turn 40 in six days. I had my sleeve done 5 days ago. While I was in the hospital, my dentist's office called and asked me if I could come in. I have been working with him for a while on some teeth issues, and I was supposed to have some kind of device to wear for six months to fix a problem. There has been problems getting a lab to make the device, so it hasn't happened yet. He wanted to meet with me to talk about my options.
It turns out, he had consulted about my case with an orthodontist. He found out that I can fix my concern and fix some minor spacing problems I have in about 18 months if I have braces instead.
Braces. At 40. Plus massive weight loss?
It is something I would have done normally. I have been working on getting this problem with my one tooth fixed for more than a year now. It's a slow process. If it wasn't for the weight loss that I expect to have, I wouldn't hesitate getting the braces.
But both together? Braces and massive weight loss? It makes me feel like I'm going through a midlife crisis and focusing too much on my looks. Although, technically, my teeth aren't a deterrent in terms of my looks. The one tooth comes down too far, and it needs to go back up, but if they are doing all of that, I could actually have these other things taken care of as well. The cost for fixing the one thing is the same as the cost of fixing it all with actual braces.
If financing can be figured out (I have already paid for 2 sets of braces for one of my kids and just had two more kids put into braces that I will be paying for over the next couple years), I will do it. But boy, by the time I'm 42, I'll be looking quite a bit different.

The heart can go pidder patter and it can also break... At any age. Have fun and enjoy, but be wise with that precious heart of yours

I'm not single so I can't speak from personal experience but I have 2 single sisters in their 50's and a single father (my mom passed away some time ago) in his 80's and it's the same giddy feeling no matter what age based on my discussions and observations with them. My dad asked a gal out about a month ago and when she said yes, he was so happy, playful and excited the whole day. I think you have tons of fun to look forward to. :-)

I'm 41 I've been single for 9 years due to being overweight I told myself as long as I'm fat I will not date well I had my sugery I have about 46 pounds to go till goal my question is how is dating and falling in love differ from your 30s since I missed that period does your heart skip a beat do you run to the phone hoping its him calling does it feel any different?

Send/leave MSG that you're considering a switch. See if that gets a response. You're not committed to anything.. Especially if you're not satisfied with everything. Almost all surgeons have openings that can accommodate the date your wanting. Good luck

Is there anyone else at this compamy that you can speak to and express your concerns? Usually there are several coordinators working and sometimes they help each other out.

I agree with Amanda...trust your instincts on this. If you aren't happy with the pre-op communication of your coordinator, I think it's indicative of what you can expect post-op. If your instincts tell you that your need aren't being met, don't ignore that.

Your coordinator should be responsive or have notified you of any times they would be unavailable. My coordinator never takes more then 12 hours to respond by phone, email, or Skype. The only time he was unavailable, I knew well in advance he wouldn't be available for those two days. I don't know what I would do without the continual availability and support from my coordinator.

If you are comfortable with the surgeon and hospital you have chosen, there may be another way to use them without your current coordinator. Do not send money until you are 100% ok with all aspects of your trip. Lord knows this process is stressful enough without that!

Don't jump to conclusions right away. She could be on vacation, travelling for business, sick. My co-ordinator did actually travel for her work when I was in contact with her. Your phone contact person is a very small part of the entire process. It is more important the surgeon you picked and his team and co-ordinators when you get to your destination.

It's a big deal, you being comfortable with your WLS choice. 100%. I was set to go with one particular surgeon but couldn't get over my anxiety. I switched and had an amazingly great experience and as soon as I switched I felt better.
I'm not saying switch or don't switch. I'm saying go with your gut.

I colored my hair throughout the thinning and regrowth stage. I am almost completely gray on top so I have to color or commit to gray hair.< /p>
At about 20 months out, it is finally thick down to the ends again. It started thinning around month 4 or 5 and started coming back in by month 8 or 9. My hair grows slow and I kept the length, so it took a while to get thick all the way to the ends again. I have been very vigilant about taking my Vitamins, drinking fluids, and eating right.
I go to a salon and told my hairdresser about the surgery, but he didn't change the products. He did a few styling tricks, cutting tricks, and coloring tricks to make it look thicker. I did try to slow down the schedule, with touch ups every 2 months instead of my normal 6 weeks.

I don't get gray hair. I prefer to tell people I'm growing Fiber optic cable!

OTR... At some point, every person you have either provided sound info to, made laugh, or helped to pull back on track, should meet you somewhere in mid-America for a big bash! You're a hoot!
