    6 weeks post op

I was in exactly the same place, gained a pound at my second visit post-op and when the PA came in I was balling like a baby. She said to me that my body was adjusting and that it's not all about the scale, it's also about how you feel, the size of your clothes and health. This is exactly why I stay away from the scale except at my dr office. I just try to put one foot in front of the other and just do what I need to do.

Hope everyone is doing well and moving forward in their progress. I am having knee surgery end of August and hoping that I will be more mobile and be able to move more to accelerate the weight loss. I need all of you and so thankful to have you via this method. Thank you

    Introduction:

I was so totally there, don't know my actual top weight, however, I do know three weeks into my "Do over" as I call it I accidently stepped on a floor scale in a hospital and saw this number flash on this little screen in red, it said 479. When I figured out it was a floor scale and that was my weight I did the stealth look around me to see if anyone was near me and I wanted to DIE!!!! Seriously I did want to die when I saw that. In the next three years I was fortunate that I was able to give up about 165 pounds. I became stuck due to numerous issues and bounced between the same 20 pounds and decided after reading about the different surgeries to give it a go. Now I had verticle sleeve November 2 2011, and I have never heard of two surgieries for it. Not even in the literature of the lectures from the surgeons. Not sure what your surgeon is talking about, however, I sure would ask for the specifics. When I finally saw the surgeon before my surgery to get approval I had a list of questions to ask him and he was great about answering them. Everyone is different as is every surgeon, I would sure ask though. Best wishes and to all, thanks for being here, this is a safe place I need to be.

    I just want to eat

Oh I have been there and done that. I HATED the whole liquid thing as I get really bad headaches if I don't eat. The first day I called the wonderful nurse that helps us all through and she talked me through it. I was two weeks on shakes prior to surgery not to mention the couple of weeks after. I really came to detest shakes, still haven't really had one since. It does get better, really it does. I looked around and found a few good weight loss surgery sites that helped. There is a GREAT blog called "The world according to egg face" she loves to cook and makes some fabulous receipes. One that I did after surgery and on to soft foods was this ricotta bake which was yummy. I also did lots of sugar free jello puddings with plain protien powder added. It will get better swear it does. I am 18 months out and struggling and felt such freedom when I came to this site. Keep on keeping on you got it!

    Feeling Like a Failure

I so totally get this, believe me I do as I have been there and feel sometimes I am still there. The good thing is tomorrow is a "Do Over" I found this site tonight while I was looking for info about stretching out your sleeve. I just learned a few things tonight that make total sense. When eating certain foods "Sliders" I can eat more of but when I eat healthy Protein I get full faster. Tomorrow is a DO OVER and you will be ok. I am 18 months out and I am down 80 pounds with about that much more to go. I can do this, I will do this, one day at a time!
