  1. Well it was a very long process for me to get to this point. I had a Lap-Band installed in 2007 I lost nearly 140lbs. but right at 2 years in 2009 it slipped. So I had to have revision surgery, during which the surgeon nicked my hepatic vein. Long story short the band was removed they were able to save me and of course over the next few years the weight all came back. Then in late 2013 I decided to get the gastric sleeve, date was set insurance was approved but as the day approached I chickened out. I just couldn't get past the idea of something happening again. So fast forward to Oct. 7th 2014. With the support of my wife who I could not have done this with out I now have had the gastric sleeve. I started at 405 lbs. and my goal is to get down to 215 lbs. over the next 1 and a half to 2 years. To everyone who has had this surgery done already good luck and don't look back you will continue to feel better every day. and to those still waiting to have it done, please do not be discouraged by what happened to me. The chances of it happening are like hitting the lottery (now if I could just find the right lottery numbers LOL). And as soon as you wake up in recovery no matter how crummy you feel you will still have it in the back of your head that you just won the biggest battle of your life. Good luck to everyone.....
  2. I will be getting my sleeve on the 4th if June. This will be my second weight loss surgery. I had a lapband about 4 years ago and it worked wonderful. I lost 145 lbs. Only 10 lbs. from my goal weight of 240. But the band slipped and during the revision surgery the hepatic vein was nicked causing me to nearly bleed out on the operating table. But due to the skill of the surgeon and his team I survived. It has taken me a long time mentally to do this again but here I am. Hopefully I will again regain my life and be able to live and love to the fullest.
  3. just about to start the pre-op class with the bariatric nurse. Class is 2 and a half hours long and should be full of good information about post op diets and vitamins. I will follow up after the class. Wish me luck.
