  1. I would go with Maalox for instant relief. But you need to take an over the counter daily PPI like omneproprazole (sp?) to help with acid reflux until you and your tummy work out a system. You may also be drinking too much, too fast and that is causing your heartburn. Take longer breaks between sips for awhile. Your new tummy is still swollen and you need to take it slow. Good luck!! It will get better.

    Pain

Sorry you are so miserable By day 4 or 5, you will definite feel better. The first 3-4 days were the hardest. I'm 9 weeks out now and I honestly can't remember much. All I remember was the bed was miserable. Feel better, it will get better.
  3. My first 4-5 weeks were just miserable. I had the same issues with dizziness, muscle aches and soooooo tired. I saw my doc and he said I needed to eat and drink more. I was barely getting in 500 cals on a good day and never enough to drink. I started tracking and drinking premier protein drinks with 30g of protein and getting in at least 600 cals a day and I feel much better. Plus I add this stuff called Greens to my shake, the extra vitamins help with the energy. I still don't drink enough fluid but I found that I tolerate Gatorade G2 better then water and the little bit of sugar and carbs in it actually help with energy and the muscle cramps. I'm 9 weeks out and don't need a nap every day. Lol hang in there and keep giving it your best, you will get there.
  4. You look amazing!! And I love that you now way less then your hubs!! I can't wait until I reach that goal mark! Good for you!!

New - doctor recommeded I join

Welcome!! I hadn't surgery 9 weeks ago tomorrow. I can tell you that for the most part, I am extreme happy that I did this. It most certainly is not the "easy way" to do this. You will also have plenty of ups and downs throughout the process. I have recently become a little saddened by my inability to enjoy food. I have had to realize that my life, socially and otherwise, can no longer revolve around eating. But that has made me appreciate more the choice I have made for myself and realize that now I'm learning to look at food like the skinny person I always wanted to be. Loving food and missing it when we can't have it, is what got us here in the first place. It has finally become time for me to change that unhealthy relationship. I think everyone goes through this. Plan for it, accept it and know one day you will have to make that choice. Do you want to be thin and heathy or overweight and comforted by what's on your plate? Make sure you have a support system to hug you and live you along the way! Plus, there is always this board and everyone's unending desire to help each and everyone on here succeed! Good luck to you!

    BMI of 40....

I was sleeved on May 6 with a Bmi of 41. My start weight was 244 at 5' 5.5''. Today, almost 9 weeks out I weigh 207. I have had a bit of a struggle with my sleeve as it appears to be on the tight side. I am currently consuming approximately 600-700 calories a day, much of that is still protein shakes. I actually don't specifically exercise yet but I lead a rather active lifestyle since I am a mother of 3 and a photographer, so I am always moving.
  8. Well you are only one week out so you need to be careful with your new tummy. I think that maybe you could turn the focus off food and find another way to celebrate? Do a little clothes shopping. Get a pedi and sip some tea? Your food options are so limited and the risk is far greater then the reward. Celebrate your b-day knowing that you made a choice for yourself and you will no longer be a slave to food. You aren't being a party pooper if you are taking care if yourself. Happy 30th birthday!! Welcome to the 30s club!!
  9. ROCK ON girlfriend!! You look AMAZING!!

    FINALLY! Somebody noticed

I found that it takes a while for the weight you lose to start showing up. It seems like a two week delay. I'm at 35 pound loss and people are just starting to comment. I also feel like its melting off from the head down. My face is thing but my butt is still bootylicious. Not in a great way. I have lost this much weight before but my body is responding totally different this time.

    Puree

I couldn't have crackers until 8 weeks. Maybe it's 12 weeks. Just hit 8 weeks Monday. And any crackers I can have are to be very nutritious.
  14. When my fall bladder went bad, before I had this surgery, I would get horrible pain in my stomach. I found rubbing my stomach in a clockwise motion seemed to help. Or having someone rub my back, opposite of my belly, in a clockwise motion, helped. Gall bladder pain is no fun!
  15. You have to be careful with the crackers and rice. Those types of foods swell once you have eaten them. You don't want to put pressure on your tummy incision and cause a leak. That was the mental note that has helped keep me in check. Good luck!

    When can I go swimming

I was told 4 weeks and even then, they had to be healed. I had an infected site and I wasn't able to swim for 7 weeks.
  17. Glad you are feeling better! Please know that dehydration can happen at any time and please don't hesitate to get help when you need it. I'm glad you are home safe and doing well.
  18. It took me quite awhile to figure out what I felt. I couldn't tell if I was hungry, gassy, full. I couldn't figure out my stopping point until it was too late. It just takes a while to learn your new tummy. Take it slow and keep up with the protein shakes and fluid.

    Sooo excited NSV!

    Awesome!! Congrats!
  20. Have the no sugar added fudge pops. Delish! Those got me through that phase!
  21. Try different protein shakes. I started with a soy based protein and it made me miserable. I switched to Premier Protein and my system became quite happy. You just have to keep trying different ones til you find one that works. The sugar alcohol and sucralose thing was also an issue for me. Good luck!

    Starving

When I first came home I was hungry too. And my whole family came over for a taco dinner. It was awful. I went and laid down in my bed. I had to remind myself that I made this choice for me and as hard as it is to follow through, I have to do this for me regardless of everyone else. After the first week, the hunger pains subsided and now I hardly ever feel hungry. It gets better! The protein shakes will help tremendously along with an acid reducer. It takes time but you will adjust. In the mean time, vent away! Good luck!!

    Liquid phase diarrhea...

Totally went through that! No one warned me and i was just starting to get worried. Lol I called it the clean out phase. Emptying your body if all the old stuff. Hang in there! It will get better
  24. Once a day?!?! You need to go to ER. Go now. You have an entire day before your flight. Go now! A flight is not worth the risk of your life.
  25. It's hard to say how long it will take. You are taking some chances. If anything, just keep sipping Gatorade. And head to the hospital as soon as you land. But I wouldn't even risk that. Dehydration is serious biz, especially after this surgery because it is such a challenge to get adequate fluid when you are already hydrated let alone when you are so dehydrated that you are this sick. They would need to check your levels and put in an IV and push fluids into you. Are you going to the bathroom at all?
