  1. I went to an info seminar last spring and was very excited. However, upon discussing the lap band with my family they encouraged me to try a diet again, so I'd know that I'd given it my best shot. I've gotta tell ya, I didn't last 2 weeks on the diet. Here I am again, I really think the Lap Band is the tool that will help me succeed! I need to be realistic that it's not a magic pill, that it will require hard work and determination, but I will be held accountable and have the support system that I don't have trying to just "diet"... I've been reading through the board and I loved this thread. Just thought I'd join in to say so.
  2. I haven't been banded yet, just starting the research process and trying to get insurance straightened out.... anyway, I have unintentionally given up my daily 44 ounces of caffeine-free diet coke and started drinking water and crystal light for the past 3 days! I'm excited. I figure I might as well keep it up since I've already started to "give up" my beloved sodas...
  3. I've been overweight all of my life and have tried every diet I think! Don't get me wrong, I've been successful on some, but the weight always comes back with some more! I've always been active despite my weight, but lately I've been so exhausted! I sleep the weekend away, and don't have the energy to clean my house the way I'd really like to scrub and clean. I have PCOS and have been diagnosed Pre-Diabetic and am taking Metformin. I don't think it's a last straw for me to want to get banded (I'm just starting the process. Thank God this group is here!!!) I feel like this is an answer to my prayers for so many years. I'd thought about GB surgery, but it always scared the heck out of me! When I heard about the Lap Band, I realized it's not as dangerous but is an awesome tool to help me be the me I want to be. I'm 32 and haven't been able to conceive and would like to be able to have a baby as well as be a healthy mama. Basically I want to be healthy and I'm tired of feeling trapped inside what feels like a ticking bomb called my body that's just waiting to explode with disastrous health problems. I hate feeling helpless and like I'm just waiting to die.
  4. Thank you very much for your input. I really appreciate it!!!
  5. What is PBing and Sliming? Sorry, I'm new here.... and just starting my LB journey..
  6. I just went to the seminar last week and am in the process of getting insurance to cover my lap band. What I really want to know is what to expect. Is it a lot of pain after the surgery? What can you eat at various stages? Do you ever get to eat "normal" foods? Is there a lot of gas/vomiting? How about diarrhea or constipation? I know, this may be gross, but I'm just really trying to get a true picture of what to expect, ya know? Thank you for your help. I've been reading around here on the forum and have learned a lot of great info. Any help you can give would be awesome.
  7. Hi, I'm Bridgette from Chesapeake, VA. I've been overweight all my life and really need to do something about my health! I suffer from PCOS, pre-diabetes, mild sleep apnea, and aches and pains that come from carrying around all of this extra weight. I went to WLSC in Newport News the other night for the informational seminar and was really impressed. I'm looking forward to getting to know you all and learning from you!
