  1. I consider myself one of the blessed individuals who has had none of the side effects/problems/complications - whatever you want to call them. My surgery was on April 29 and I'm down about 20 lbs. I've been steadily loosing about 2 lbs a week with no stalls as of yet. The recovery was quite easy except for the 6 hours in recovery following the surgery - gas pains which thank God were gone the very next day. Thankfully I've avoided bouts of nausea or vomiting so as I said I consider myself pretty lucky and truly blessed.
  2. I figured I'll post my stats as well - here are the details: Height: 5,6" 4/13 - pre-op testing weight: 266.0 LBS 4/29 - surgery day: 251.5 LBS 5/31 - weekly weight-in: 239.5 LBS It's been slow but steady and I'm loving the experience. Haven't had any issues with food or liquids so things are quite easy. Just need to incorporate more exercise as I've been slaking off in that department.

    Pre made Protein shakes

For me the best one so far has been GNC's Total Lean Shake in Swiss Chocolate Flavor. At 14oz. only 170 cal 6g Carbs but you get 25g protein. i think that's pretty decent.

    Am I going to die ... ?

Thanks for the laugh! I'll look into the strips tomorrow. For now it's little disposable toothbrushes that have toothpaste sot of build into the, They are small, discrete and I can even get away with using them at my desk.
  7. Thanks - I'll definitely with check them out.

    One month post op

That's wonderful - congrats on the progress!
  9. I was actually wondering about this topic going to work this morning. I'm glad to hear that I'm not doing something wrong since I've hadn't had any issues with getting my liquids in. Thanks!!

    Am I going to die ... ?

I was actually considering Listerine Breath Strips that you simply place on your tongue and they simply dissolve... any thoughts?

    Am I going to die ... ?

Thanks for your input. I agree, it is amazing how the instructions vary based on who did your surgery...
  12. Since I've already had very positive experience with NYU Medical Center I've decided to go with their NYU Langone Weight Management Program. I went to seminar led by Dr. Christine Ren and decided to use her as my surgeon. I was initially interested to do the Lap-Band but after thinking it over and some additional research I opted for the VSG and I am so happy with my decision. I'm sorry i don't have any suggestions for Queens but hopefully there are others who might give you some recommendations. Best of luck! -d

    Am I going to die ... ?

Thanks everyone - you are the best! I did speak with the nurse at the surgeon's office and he confirmed that I should be fine. As long as I'm not vomiting or having issues with drinking, the gum will run it's trail to my system and that should be the end of the story. Lesson learned!!!

Thank you for giving me hope! I'll try to get in touch with the Dr. and hopefully I haven't made a huge mess. Never again am I touching gum!!! It's too nerve wrecking to think that I might be sabotaging my healthy by not paying attention. Still breathing ,,,
