I had my done 1st on May 13th. Then my husband had his 9 days later! He saw me struggle at first and said it would be so easy for him. Men! lol Wrong! He was just like me! He wanted to sleep all the time for the 1st week. Congrats to you both! No regret! I've lost 25 pounds since surgery and my husband has lost 30 pounds!

maybe posting this thread on malboro, camel, or newports page would have given you the answer you were really looking for? not a site dedicated to people who are trying to get healthy, and live longer. it gets me everytime when people ask a question then get huffy when they dont get the "ok" they were really looking for all along

BCBS PA, BMI over 60, inequality????? i have to go through my 6 months of insurance appointed monitoring by my PCP. i dont gripe, i dont complain, im just doing it. my wife and i are considering it preparation time for the rest of our lives. to say the fattest of the fat get preferencial treatment is plain old stupid and in my opinion uneducated. if you dont like how your insurance company operates switch companies, wait another 12-18 months for that surgery date, then be happy and live your life. yes, we all ate ourselves to this point. some may have other conditions to help things along but the bottom line is you (no matter who you are) ate too much. thats the common denominator here, no ifs, ands, or buts. try and learn what you can about the new lifestyle you will be living over the next 6 months and consider yourself lucky that this is even an option for you.
count your blessings, dont air your complaints. especially on a site where we all are going through pretty much the same thing.

This insurance stuff gives me a headache. Only thing I understood was the bottom line price. The EOB's and whatnot are confusing :-(

Thanks for all the responses! I used the term "friend" when I should have used acquaintance. We live 1000 miles away from each other and are work colleagues and I see her her maybe once a year. We are FB friends and that is where I have seen these great stories of her successes. I did message her about it and she swears she only lost about 20 pounds due to her WLS, got stuck, started taking the pills and BOOM, lost 100+ pounds.
It's all good, though. Every week or so I post something on her wall or on her status asking her how her RNY is going and how "proud" I am of her success regarding her decision to have surgery, brave, strong, great choice, yada, yada, yada, and leave it at that. Oddly enough, she's toned down the enthusiasm for her magic Beans. I also messaged a few of the takers of her pills and told them to be sure to ask her how about her pills in conjunction with her surgery.

according to your profile you had 1st letter of approval for the surgery? sorry, but this statement of yours seems a bit hypocritical being that your "noncaring" insurance company took care of you on your 1st attempt?

My insurance doesn't care how overweight you are. You still have to have 6 months of physcian supervised visits. So if you are BMI 41 on Day 1 ... or if you are BMI 55 on Day 1 ... you still have to do the 6 months of physcian supervised visits. Don't get me wrong. I would love to have the surgery now, but I can't change it so why complain ... I'm just happy that in 6 months (well 4 months now) I will get to have the surgery.

I've been complaining a bit about having the 6 month diet to complete, but after reading this thread, I'm going to try and not be so impatient. I've realized that my insurance WILL eventually pay, and I won't have to pay for it myself or go to Mexico, so I'm going to make myself be content with the wait.
