I'm 5'8" and I weigh 270ish ... they set my goal weight to 150. I guess each doctor is just different. -
Day 2 since surgery....
inarakatra replied to Pixie Dust's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree with the water. I was told to get my water first, then protein, etc. Maybe you are getting dehydrated. I don't know. I do hope you feel better soon. -
Congrats! I'm so excited for you.

inarakatra replied to NotLookinBack's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I wish you the best of luck and hope that they answer you soon and that your surgery is schedule quickly. -

The pre-op diet is NOT a punishment ... it's an opportunity.

4 Week Liquid Pre Op Diet
inarakatra replied to StarryNightSky's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doctor said that they only required 1 week, but I'm going to due 2 weeks minimum. I'm enjoying the food that I will put to death. I decided a year ago that I didn't want caffine and haven't had it since. I decided 2 months ago that I didn't want carbinated drinks, I haven't had it since. Now the things that are harder for me (ice cream, chips, french fries, etc.) I'm enjoying them for 30 more days and then good bye to them. I'm really working on my mental powers (hehe) to convience myself that bye bye food isn't going to be a problem, but I didn't get fat overnight and if it was easy to just not do it, then I would be skinny. I'm not! So I'm allowing myself some time to enjoy them just a little onger bfore I can't have them anymore. -
That's my last weigh in date and then all my requirements will be done and I will just be waiting on approval and surgery date. My surgeon said they will have everything ready to send the second I have my last weigh in.

I have 60 days until I can be approved.

completely infantile and unnecessary whining!

I'm excited for you. -
I'm sitting in the waiting area listening to the receptionist complain that they have to work tomorrow and see paitents. She's like "...and it wouldn't be bad if we didn't have patients coming in." Then the phone rings and the same lady says, "hello...which dr referred you?...can I call you back because I'm with a patient right now?" Then she go back to talking to a coworker. WOW!!!

At the mental dr...
inarakatra replied to inarakatra's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well...just got out about 30 minutes ago. The dr I saw was nothing like the staff. Eitherway...don't know if I will go back. -
I still have roughly 60 days. I've been reading several post from people who said they were having doubts. I couldn't understand why they would doubt. I'm so ready for this. Then yesterday I was laying in bed thinking, "Wow ... only 60 days left until I start my two week liquid diet...Wait...why is my heart racing all of a sudden? Oh ... what am I doing? Do I really want to do this? OMG...I thought those people were crazy and here I am." I do want to have this surgery, but the closer it gets, the nervous feelings and doubt are creeping in. I do want this and I will go through with it, but WOW ... that was sure a wake up moment for me. I can now say that I understand.

Why you chose the sleeve
inarakatra replied to corcor85's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I chose the sleeve because my doctor said she strongly suggested that no one ever get the band again. There has even been talk of it being taken off the market because of the failure rate. -
People seem to think that this is the easy way out when actually it's not. It's a tough road that reaps excellent benefits, but only if you are willing to change. Best of luck!

I'm IMPATIENTLY waiting.....
inarakatra replied to tmposton's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I know what you mean! They hurried to get all the preop done and now I have to wait roughly a little over two months. :/ -
Hope everything turns out right with your insurance. Best of luck!

Anybody out there just beginning their journey?
inarakatra replied to J33PGRL's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have two more 3 more dr. visits. I should be having my surgery the first or second week in Oct. It feels so close yet so far away. -
When I went into my doctor for the first consult she said that she talks every one of her patient who want the band into getting the sleeve. She said if she never does a band again, she will be happy. She said it has a higher regain weight percentage.
-
I'm trying to follow the diet that I will be following after the sleeve, but in larger portions. Like tuna after the sleeve will be 1 to 2 oz at a time. Now 4 oz. I don't know ... kinda winging it right now because I'm still wanting to enjoy certain foods that I know I won't be eating after the surgery.

Wow ... What I have to look forward to ...
