  1. Usually with HYPERthyroid (overactive) you would tend to lose weight. HYPOthyroid (underactive) usually makes it harder to lose weight. I have had hypothyroid for many years, which has always been one of my problems. I am only going to be 10 weeks out this coming Monday, but compared to others, I'm losing a little more slowly. 109lbs in 4 months is amazing! That is over 20lbs a month. I am at about 27lbs in 9 weeks. Your body just could be adjusting to the fast loss and taking a break. I wouldn't necessarily contribute it to your thyroid. Give it a little more time and see what your doctor says. Try not to get too frustrated. You didn't put 184lbs on in 6months or a year, did you? Be patient and it will happen.

    Diet Progression

    I had 2 weeks full liquids, 1 month soft solids then I was allowed to introduce whatever I wanted, within reason as stated above!
  3. It is pretty much why do you want the procedure and what have you done before in regards to weight loss. They will ask the standard questions too like are you depressed, do you have any substance abuse issues, does anyone in your family etc. They just need to make sure you are in the right frame of mind. Just because you are going through a divorce and have normal feelings surrounding that, they are not going to fail you.

    Anyone from Boston MA?

    Yup, went through all the hoops - physical, EGD, 6 weeks of behavioral medicine classes, then monthly after that, met with nutritionist, psychiatrist, blood work, etc. Once you get the call that you are approved, it is going to seem like things went by so fast! I was so happy to have gone through all the stages and once I got the call, all of a sudden it was real! This was really going to happen! It is a surreal feeling. You are happy but scared at the same time. Besides the fact that I can't eat a lot, or quickly, I feel totally normal. Actually better than my usual normal! Can't wait for you to get your date. It will be here before you know it!

    Anyone from Boston MA?

    Well, welcome to Worcester! I feel I have been very fortunate and have not had any real problems with my surgery. I was in the hospital for one night. When I woke up from surgery I was a bit nauseous from the anesthesia, but that happened with my gallbladder too, so I wasn't too surprised. Very tired that night. They woke me up every 2 hours to take my blood pressure. Nurse got me up around 5 or 5:30 to go for a walk. Felt pretty good that morning. Around 4:30 or so, right before discharge, started to feel really bad. It was the gas trying to find an escape route! Lasted for a few hours maybe. Came home and went to bed. Next morning, day 2 post-op, felt good. Moving a little slow, but otherwise good. By day 3 I was walking 1.5 miles a day and by day 7 I was walking a little over 3 miles a day. This coming Monday I will be 10 weeks out. Good luck on your journey and if you need anything, don't hesitate to ask!

    gaining back weight

    I didn't have my period until 9 weeks after surgery. There are others that have posted on this topic as well that it may takes months before you are "regular" again. Also, exactly how much weight have you gained back? And, are you tracking everything you are doing. If you aren't getting enough Water, that could be holding things back a bit.

  8. Water poisoning can happen after drinking excessive amounts of water. 64oz a day is not excessive. If drinking less is working for you, that's great. Best of luck on your journey!

    weight lifting

    Same here, it was just about a month. Original paperwork said not to lift over 20lbs for the 1st 6 weeks, but at my follow up my surgeon said I was healed enough at that point that I shouldn't have to worry about it.
  10. Every program is different. For me, I didn't have such a strict pre-op diet to follow.The only thing I really had to do was the liquid diet the day before surgery. So, although I don't recommend cheating, you haven't really caused any harm.
  11. by doing a 3.5 miles walk/jog! Walk 1 minute, jog 35 seconds (I'm new to this!). Last Sunday I just did the intervals for 2 miles then jogged when I felt like it for a bit. Today I did the entire thing in the 1:35 intervals! Pace 15:23 minute miles! And burned 521 calories to boot!

  15. My question is, how do you know what your levels are and if you even need to bring them down? Just because you were a smoker, doesn't necessarily mean that you need to do anything special to bring levels down. My mom was a heavy smoker (4 packs a day) many, many years ago. She quit and did not have any problems with CO2.
  16. Are you still writing down everything you eat? If not, that might give you an idea of what might need to change diet-wise.

    Chicken

    I honestly just ate the chicken with a little low fat honey mustard dressing or made chicken salad. I didn't see the use in trying a recipe since it took me so long to eat it, it would be cold by my second bite!

    how long does it take?

    By day 3 I was able to get in a 10.75oz Ensure Protein drink. It took me about an hour, but I did it. I was constantly sipping on something the first couple of weeks.

    Help! I need help!

    I can't speak from experience as I am only 8 weeks out, but I would think getting back to basics would be a good thing. You know what you are doing wrong so no need to tell you. Start eating clean and only during scheduled times and see what happens. Good luck!

    Help with my fitness pal

    I had about 2T of mashed potatoes today. In MyFitnessPal I put the 1/2 c serving on the right hand side and on the left put .25 of a serving.
