  1. I was officially sleeved on July 23rd. I'm told that my surgery was textbook perfect and finished in only 45 minutes. After I woke up, I didn't really experience much pain, but the first time I stood up, I about doubled over with pain on my left side. It felt like tremendous gas pain, but wouldn't move. After speaking with the surgeon, he determined it was most likely discomfort from the JP drain. I continued to struggle with this pain for the next two days, but had immediate relief the moment the drain was removed. My biggest pain in the neck now, is my throat. The little hang-me-down thingy in the back of my throat is swollen to twice its normal length. It makes me gag when I talk, when I cough, lean forward or pretty much anything else. I'm told it will heal, but takes time. I also seem to have a rolling gas bubble that I'm working with. After drinking anything, I get a wave of pain/pressure that rolls up from the bottom of my abdomen to the top and radiates through my back. Once I get past this, I should be good to go! Good luck to those with surgery dates still to come.

  4. Pre-Op song currently is....Sixteen Tons "...You load sixteen tons, what do you get Another day older and deeper in debt Saint Peter don't you call me 'cause I can't go I owe my soul to the company store..." Post-Op song will be "I Wanna Live Like That" by Uriah Shelton "I wanna learn from my mistakes, and I wanna give back what I take I wanna be there for my friends, I wanna always make amends I wanna live like that Well, I wanna laugh right out loud, and I wanna make my mama proud I wanna have the strength to cry I wanna always wonder why I wanna live like that I wanna live that way, I don’t want to be afraid I wanna love like that, every day I wanna live like that Well, I wanna be here when I pray, and I wanna slow dance in the rain I wanna love and be loved back, lose my way without a map I wanna live like that Well I wanna go when things grow wild, and I wanna see my baby smile I wanna go gracefully, gather shells by the sea I wanna live like that....."
  5. So I've done all my required pre-op testing appointments and on my first visit with my NUT, the Dr. Instructed her to put me on a clear liquid diet starting now. I've done well in the last month since my first consultation with the surgeon, I even managed to lose 10 lbs. I'm on day 3 of liquids and doing ok, but I can't wrap my mind around how long this will take. I don't have a surgery date yet, and as far as I know, my file hasn't been submitted to insurance yet. Has anybody had to do a longer than normal pre-op diet?
  6. Hi Everyone, As the title suggests, I'm a newbie! I've been visiting the forum for the last 2 weeks reading everyones amazing stories. Other forums on the net seem to focus so much on the negatives, but I'm looking for support! Glad I found this place. I'm not far into my journey yet. I went to the seminar in April, had initial consultation with the surgeon on May 8th. And now the fun begins! I hope to meet lots of new people that are on a similar journey. Be good to you!
