  1. I had the surgery 1 week ago today. Feeling pretty good so far...still a little achy, but each day I feel leaps and bounds better. Here are my stats so far:

    Highest: 333.4

    Pre-Op Diet Start: 274.4

    Surgery: 266.6

    1 Wk Post-Op: 261.2

Notes: I'm 5'6" tall. I did weight watchers for 1.5 years before approaching a doctor about the surgery. Weight watchers tapered off and I was struggling to continue losing. My pre-op diet was 2 weeks...and I wasn't perfect the whole 2 weeks, but I really tried.

  2. Sorry you threw up but it gets better! Today is my 4th day of liquids I got on the scale and I haven't lost anything but I feel like I'm less puffy <img src='http://www.bariatricpal.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' /> good luck to you 1.6 pounds is nice your on your way!!

Thx! Good luck to you! Feeling less puffy is a good thing...eventually that will be pounds. :)

  3. Today is day 2 of my pre-op diet...surgery on 6/26 in CT. I had one shake and Water for breakfast...then all of a sudden threw up while blow drying my hair. It was about 30-40 mins after eating. Not sure what brought that on...hope it was just an one time deal...I have another 13 days of this. :-/

Good news...lost 1.6 pounds in 1 day of pre-op diet. Lol.

  4. What you should of done is handle it like a mature adult which means you should of grabbed the plate full of food and throw it against the wall and tell them if they wanna eat then they better be locked in their rooms with fans blowing the smell out the house. I mean that's what I would of done. Lol actually felt like that a lot. I lived in my room when they ate. It was torture!

    Omg - roflmao! :)

  5. I had a 2 week liquid diet w/2 days clear liquids right before surgery. I lived on Protein shakes' date=' G2 gatorade, Water, broth and Jello. yum yum. lol. I had my doctor take a picture of my liver during surgery and give it to me afterwards because i wanted proof of how pretty it was after I survived that diet![/quote']

That is hilarious and ingenious. Lol. I start my preop diet tomorrow...a little proof at the end would be great incentive! :)

  6. Hello all! I've been reading the forum for the past couple of months' date=' thank you all for the great advice and sharing your experiences. It's been very helpful and informative! I met with the surgeon a week ago today, my surgery date is June 26. Anyone else for June?[/quote']

My surgery date is June 26th too! :)

  7. You should write down any questions you may have so you don't forget. My surgeon explained everything in detail so I didn't have too many questions. Ask what he requires you to do as far as a diet and what tests he needs you to do. I had my surgery 2 months ago and the sleeve is the best.

Thx! I am meeting with the office's nurse practitioner to discuss tests they need me to do, then the surgeon and psychologist next week. I have intentions of making a list, but you're right - I should start the list now so that I don't forget any of my questions.

  8. I used the time pre-op to make sure my head was in the game. I DID go out for a nice dinner with my husband a few days before surgery. We saw a movie and had sushi because my doctor asked me to stay away from sticky things for a long time post-op (especially white rice). I had a full meal' date=' certainly, but I didn't stuff myself silly like I would have a year before.

You still have time. Get your head in the game! You'll need it.[/quote']

    Good advice!

  9. My surgery isn't scheduled yet - I'm in month three of six months worth of visits ... but I've already been planning a last visit to Red Lobster' date=' Olive Garden, and White Castle LOL! Not a last, last visit, but a last visit where I can go and overeat. That sounds so terrible when I say it out loud, but it's the truth![/quote']

At least you have a forum where you can admit the dirty little food secrets in the back of your mind...and people understand. :)

  10. Well everyone is different! I'm going to present a different take on it. It ain't a food funeral. All your (well' date=' mostly all) of your 'food friends' will be available to you much later, so what are you burying? I've kinda decided that the point here for me is to learn a new relationship with food, so that's what I'm Trying to do. My Optifast starts Sunday, but I've certainly been trying to focus on Proteins, and Meal Replacement shakes for the last two/three weeks. Also, this liquid "fast" is a lot longer than two weeks -- you have to count AFTER surgery too, right??? and that'll be a Lot longer...

Bottom line, I ain't so happy with my "friend" food right now. She's got me to a bad place. She's been a trickster and a deceiver. She makes me feel good in the short run only to bring me pain in the long term. I'm not so sure I want to take her back after she's done this to me...[/quote']

You're right...this "friend" isn't so great right now, but it is great to hear I'm not alone and their is a healthier, more constructive way to view my behavior. I've worked hard to lose 60 pounds and I'm close to being approved for the surgery...I don't want to go backwards now. Getting approved and having the surgery isn't an excuse to mourn food, but a reason to keep working hard.

Thx for your insights and thx to the original poster for bringing up a great topic!!

  11. Oh boy' date=' I'm having the sleeve in July and I'm eating to my hearts content, knowing that in just two months it will all be over. This will be my second attempt ( the band damaged my stomach so much that the surgeon removed my band and did not attempt to do the sleeve until my stomach healed.that was 7 months ago)I have vivid memories of the preop liquid diet and how awful it wad so now I'm gorging, until my preop liquid diet.. can't help it. Am I a sicko or what?[/quote']

Omg - I never thought to call it a "food funeral" but that is exactly what I'm going through. I have been saying my "goodbye's" for the past week...ever since I realized I don't need to do the 6 months of NUT visits...I just need to submit a letter of medical necessity to my insurance. I thought this was just me...

  12. I just had my 9 month checkup' date=' I have lost 116 lbs since June 18, 2012, I'm 5'11" and started out at 334.9 lbs, I am so excited about getting to onderland!

Wow! You look awesome! I started at 333.4 and I've lost about 60 pounds so far...but I have been stuck in a plateau for a long time (starting weight is from August 2011). That's why I'm proceeding with the WLS. I hope to see your success one day...great job!
