  1. I do that every time i swallow chewable vitamins. I would talk to your Dr aout it for sure. If its blood sugar related you need to know and need to know how to handle it.
  2. Your practice seems to be doing things completely different than any other I've seen. I would ask right up front what the process is and what time frame is remaining. My process was See Dr, go the counter to get list of insurance required items. Return home and schedule those items. Complete them. Return to See Dr, go to counter to select date Have survery Time frame brtween 2 Dr visits-6 weeks. I am 2.5 hrs from my surgeon. I moved things along faster because i did not use the Drs providers or scheduling. I scheduled all of my own with Drs near my home.
  3. Are you tracking what you eat and drink with my fitness pal? It seems to me that you might be getting in more than you think. If you aren't i would recommend downloading the free app and doing it. Its the best thing i have done to really know where i stand. Guessing or going on memory will not work. Could be that you're better off than you think. Best of luck.

    Ouchy Sex! Help!

Personally i think you should go to your Gyn for an exam and a full consultation. I think its probably hormonal but thee are a few reasons i can think of for vaginal dryness. There are several good quality lubricants on the market but I would ask the Dr for advice on the best one for you.
  5. I didn't accuse anyone of basing this on money. I simply asked a question. As i said i am not in on the goings on behind the scenes here. Its apparent that there are many people on this website that are making money from facilitating services or referrals. That is apparently a legitimate business so not of any concern to me. They all look the same to me.I have no reason to care but it does breed competition and that is what i was referring to. Some people compete in a healthy way and others do it in an underhanded way. It is what it is. That is what is meant and that is all I said. .
  6. I love twilight sleep when its administered properly. That day all the stars were misaligned for me and nothing went right.

    I'm in love

I have spent a lifetime avoiding anything to do with chicken soup, like the plague. The very idea of chicken soup in any form was revolting to me. I am in my post surgery liquids phase. I am to not have anything that doesn't easily run through a wire strainer. That thought alone is somewhat gross to me. Today i gave in and decided to bite the bullet and try a cream of soup. I chose Campbells Cream of Chicken with Herbs. I thinned it way down with skim milk and warmed it. OMG its absolutely delicious! How is it possible that a persons taste buds can change so drastically? I mean seriously, to go from utter disgust to love! Bizarre. I will take it happily. Now instead of dreading i look forward to discovering new things i will enjoy while smiling because I honestly don't miss anything i can't have. Yay sleeve!!!'
  8. That's good, I'm glad you're a bit better. I don't mean to steal your thread but it has reminded me of my personal EGD horror story. Many years ago I had my first EGD. My husband was handed a pager and told to go to the main waiting room and wait for it to beep before returning for me. It would be 30 minutes to an hour they said. I was given twilight sleep. I woke up slumping off the side of a wheelchair in an empty room. I was unable to hold my head up. My husband was nowhere to be seen and neither was anyone else. I was extremely groggy, much more than I should have been. I managed to get the wheelchair to the door and open it. Eventually a nurse walked by. Just as I feared I had been forgotten in this room and my husband had never been beeped. He was furious because it had been 4 hours since he had seen me and he had tried and failed to get to the back many times. Nobody he asked had any information or offered to look for any. The next day I was in pain head to toe. I thought it was normal. A week or so later I phoned for results since I hadn't heard. Guess what I was told? I had fought and gagged so wildly even sedated that it could not be completed. I had sat around wondering for a week what the had found only to learn they hadn't bothered to tell me it was never done because the scope never went past my throat. They had over-sedated me trying to get me deep enough to stop fighting them to no avail. I spent many years not going back for an EGD when I actually needed one because I thought there was something wrong with me and that it couldn't be done. Turns out there was something wrong with the Dr (loosely used), nurse anesth. and facility. All were incompetent. EGD and twilight sleep when properly done are not painful and do not leave you in a state of blubbering idiocy for 24 hrs. Sorry, back to your regularly scheduled program.

    Short lived

To lose a child at any stage of your pregnancy is painful and the loss is real and profound. I am so sorry you and your husband have gone through this. My prayers that the child God has hand selected for you will come very soon.
  10. I don't know you or your wife and I'm not "in on" whatever the goings on here are. I will say that if you have been freely giving of yourself to help others with no ulterior or monetary motive behind it then perhaps those issues are coming from the ones that complained and set about attempting to stop you. Did you inadvertently step on the toes (or wallet) of a few that are being paid to set patients up with Drs other than those you support?
  11. Do you mean you were fully awake during it? I had one before surgery with twilight sleep. I had no pain other than a slight sore throat. That was gone by the next day. If you were awake i wonder if you fought against it and strained musçles. Either way, it isn't normal and you should contact your Dr.
  12. Congrats, i have to say my stitch is the bane of my existence. It is e excruciating and getting worse daily. How many days out were you? Someone told me yesterday that Dr Nicholson said it might take 6 weeks. I cried!

    I need Advice!

I don't necessarily think 14-15 is too young. I think it depends on the child's other health conditions, risk including family health history, her full understanding and desire, commitment and maturity. The reality is that she is morbidly obese and she is/will suffer physically and emotionally due to it. School, especially a new one will be even more difficult for her. It isn't wrong to give her options if she is capable of handling them and the ramifications. The girl needs help. What i would do in this situation is go ahead with my surgery now and postpone hers for 6 months or a year or so. In that time i would take her to counseling sessions and let her see what i go through first hand, good and bad. In that time she'll be a little older and have some first hand knowledge to base her decision on. Who knows, she might make healthy adjustments on her own in that time. She might see your meals and lifestyle and think it doesn't work for her after all. Its easy to read about it on a forum but i can tell you its not the same as living it. Good luck to both of you whatever you choose.

    i have no idea

I would be standing at he door when they arrive today. I would bypass the person that isn't doing her job and demand the Dr or at the very least his nurse practitioner.

    New commercial!

He talks about how he had the lb inserted 13 years ago. There wasn't the option for the sleeve just for the purpose of WL then was there? So many Drs are recommending pts NOT to do it the makers of the band are just trying to get some business back.

    IsoPURE NASTY

My brilliant idea for the day. Mix in 1 packet of sf drink (I use strawberry crush) To 1 bottle of isopure punch RTD. Pour it into popsickle forms. Totally tolerable.

Amy, you might like it. Make sure that they're very cold. I've read that helps a lot. Don't decide that they suck based on anything I say. I'm not the best judge of this stuff. I struggle with liquids i don't love, (kinda in a big old fat cry baby kinda way)

I'm not a chef but i agree, its awful! I made the mistake of buying a case of 1 flavor! I manage to get through it by diluting 1/2 with water then adding 1/2 packet diet Crush drink mix.
  19. I think communicating feelings is going to be of help here. I know a lot of men aren't all that much into discussing feelings but i would try to get to the bottom of his. In a completely nonthreatening way i would honestly express mine too. In this situation I would feel hurt and I would tell him so and why. It would be especially hurtful and frustrating for me if I had just lost weight because that tends to make us feel more sexually desirable. If you've been apart it might be that you just need to learn to be comfortable with each other again.
  20. What was your sex life with him like before surgery?
  21. With the large incision on the left ( the one he pulls the removed stomach through) he does a stitch. I think its to prevent a hernia. What he does is from the inside of the hole he stitches back and forth between the hole and the muscle in your side. The stitches are pulled very tight. Mine is tight enough that it is drawn in seveal inches into a several inch deep tight crease. The stitches are dissolvable and after 2-3 weeks they break lose from the muscle. You should feel a pop when it lets go. After that when your muscle and tissues are released and allowed to return to their normal position the pain goes away.
  22. I wound up getting it in the bend of my arm 3 inches below the elbow. The thing is I can go to the little lady that does blood draws for my PCP and she will get it on her first try everytime. If she can do it then it seems to me that its a matter of practice and technique and they need more of both. I'm doing OK. I'm pretty sore from the left stitch in the muscle he does. That seems to get worse before it gets better, at least for me. I'm very tired a lot of the time. I'm still very glad i did it. The left pain thing will pass as soon as it pops in another 2 wek or so. The fatigue will pass in the next few weeks too as i continue to mend. I'm anxious to get on with a normal life.
  23. Well, i am a hard stick but never that hard. They were very kind, knowledgable and caring. They just need to brush up on IV and blood draws or bring a good lab tech in a soon as they see they can't do it. I would go back and recommend them to anyone for everything else.
  24. I will say this. The nurses at Victory Plano are the worst i have ever encountered for starting IVs and doing blood draws. There is no contest. I am a tough draw and i expect problems. Not like the ones i had at Victory though. To start the IV took 3 nurses and 30 minutes at least. They started off by trying to do it in bizarre places. As you say, in the underside of your arm. Before i went into surgery i had at least 10 bad attempts and bruises already forming. After surgery they needed blood. 3 nurses tried. Eventually one actually pricked my arm and squeezed blood into the vile in a pumping motion. Not enough though because shortly thereafter they came back wanting more. The trickles in the first vile had dried up before getting to the lab. Thank God by that time the nurse that was supposed to try asked permission to call (?) from the lab because she could see i was impossible to do. The angel from the lab walked it, drew blood and left in 2 minutes tops. i tory seriously needs to either train their nurses in this or have the lab there ready to do it. 8 days later and my arms are still lack and blue. They gave me amazing care but boy, they gotta work on the lab draws big time
  25. Thanks for writing this. I was starting to think I was different. Like i should be full pf energy and I'm just not. I'm tired every day and i don't last too long no matter what i try to do. I don't know whether or not all surgeons do the deep stitching thing from the large incision down into the left side muscle or not but mine does and that makes it much worse. That is more painful by the day. I can't wait until it finally pops loose.
