    December 2013 Sleevers Come In!

December 9th!!!! I had the option to go in October but life and schedule didn't allow. But I'm just glad to have it scheduled and start the new year with a new me!!!! I'm 38 5'5 and currently 270. I start my two week liquid on Nov 25th, so no turkey and yams for this chick! I'm ok with it though...I decided to host an early Thanksgiving and have already told my family I will be a no show on turkey day. I comb through this web site every day and can't believe I'm finally starting this journey. I have always had weight issues and have wanted wls forever but never had insurance that would cover it. Now I work for a local hospital and it's covered and I had a relatively painless process into all this. I got luck and was able to use most of my pre-testing from a recent gallbladder removal to satisfy my surgeon and ins. All I have left is the the labs the day before Thanksgiving and then the big day on Monday Dec 9th....oh yeah and I'm getting married October 26th!!!! New Year, new partner and new life! WATCH OUT 2014!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  3. You got this.....just add walking and change a few things now that you're going have to change anyway after surgery like cutting soda, carbs and sugars back if not out totally. Start preparing now with your lifestyle changes so you are ready post op and the lbs should come off. Are you on or will you be on a preop diet? That should take care of at least 10lbs.

  6. Thank you jashantee. I think so too.
  7. i know the feeling...december 9th can't get here any faster. I'm getting married october 26th and really tried to have my surgery over the summer but it didn't work out that way...a little dissapointed that my wedding pics will be of the old me.
  8. I'll be on the two week deal...unlimited liquids but at least 60-80 grams of protein.
  9. Personally I can't think of any...but bring a note book with you. Start jotting things down that come to mind so when you meet with him you'll have it in front of you.Congrats btw!!!
  10. Not trying to be rude but then why are you on this forum? Weight loss is not ALL about control. I think it's a little insulting to make it seem like those of us who have decided to go this route are not in control. I think the total opposite. I speak for myself but if weight loss was ALL about control and just putting the fork down then wouldn't life be so much easier. This goes without saying but obesity is a combination of things for different people. I think most people who have decided to go this route have exhausted other means. I know I have. So excuse me if I seem like I'm cherry picking but I find it counter productive for others for you to be on this site and comment on a thread about it being a control issue. In order to have this procedure we have all had to make sure this is the right thing for us. If it isn't for you that's fine...I'm glad in your case, you figured it out before you did it. If you are able to lose weight on you own BIG props too you, please don't let me knock wind out of your sails. However, don't take your victory and turn it around to make others feel like they are failing for their choices.
  11. Well i finally met with the surgeon today and luckily I've had all my testing with the exception of blood, chest xray and NUT consult. So in a perfect world I would be planning my surgery date....BUT.....due to a few meds I take daily( for anxiety and depression) I may be held up another three months. It seems that since I can't swallow pills post surgery I will have to crush my meds. If my meds can't be crushed then I have to try alternative meds that can be crushed. However, I would have to stay on these "new" crushable meds for 3 months to make sure they work before the surgeon will give me the green light. Anyone have this issue?
  12. Hello, I'm new here and and a million questions. First off.....How long did the process take for everyone. I am going to a seminar which is the first step before my consult. the office tells me it's a 2 to 2 1/2 month wait time from seminar to surg. She says due to the testing and prep.

I have Humana...and as far as the surgeon I'm using says that I can use my sleep ap test and endo testing, as well as the others. I've had a lot of health issues related to my gall bladder that sent me in all different directions of testing in the last few months. I guess it depends on the doc and the ins.

Update....I went to the seminar and spoke with the surgeon after..... and I've had a lot of the pre op testing in the last year due to other issues. He said they can still be used since they were done with in the last twelve months...so yay! I work for the hospital that I'm having it done at so I know my insurance should be easy to deal with. My first appt is June 11th. Hope it won't take too much time. I'm very excited and ready to get the surgery.
